I love Lou. But honestly Dusty DID show some emmotion the first couple of years. And had a real Gem when he threw his hat, threw the line-up card, and threw just about anything close to him while a'shoutin. And after that, He was "embarrassed" doing that infront of his son, and never did it again. while it's entertaining to watch a manager have a meltdown on the field, it doesn't do much for the team. i'd rather lou not have a reason to throw a base or go after the closer physically. but dempster better throw strikes. I don't disagree with you at all. Lou wasn't "physical" at all. But it was an emmotional type strict order. And players can respond to that. People can make of it all they want, but that type of passion for the game and passion for winning can really get the players to perform. i don't think it has much effect on performance above the idea of getting dempster to stop screwing around and just throw strikes. if you could yell someone into hitting a baseball, more managers would be doing it.
