  2. oh, the humanity. the sun will never shine again.
  3. He's had that game where he struck out the side with the bases loaded and no outs. Otherwise, I have no idea where his good numbers come from. i just never see him get any outs, but apparently he does.
  4. wuertz has always been a very good reliever, but it's strange. i can't remember him ever pitching well.
  5. How much have you watched Rose play? I don't think you can make judgments about something like court vision unless you've watched him play extensively. why would you say this to me and not to someone who says he might have the best court vision of anyone they've ever seen? i mean, isn't that a bolder statement than "i wouldn't call his court vision a weakness but i don't think he's in the class of some of the best point guards in the league right now"? i hate having to defend my perceptions by boasting about who and what i've seen and how many times i've seen them in person, so i'm not going to do it here. but let's just say that i've followed derrick rose's career rather closely since before he had ever set foot in tennessee.
  6. Rose's "court vision" is better then you give him credit for. And IMO, I think his court vision will rival Kidd, Nash, and Deron Williams in no time. To say that Rose's court vision is not a strength is laughable. i wouldn't call it a weakness, but as far as i can tell, it's not something i'd mention as great strength in the vein of the better point guards in the league.
  7. is this a joke? i always thought he was a good coach, and he kind of got the shaft in 1989.
  8. hawk got the job done, but was kind of funny looking while doing it. he always looked a bit stiff out there and i don't remember him ever really diving for anything, kind of like ryno. but his arm was pretty fantastic.
  9. i know the knee-high 90-mph fastball is coming, you know it's coming, everyone in the crowd knows it's coming, but when it gets there, everything goes terribly wrong for loney.
  10. like i said, he hasn't given up a run since coming over. nobody hits this guy.
  11. Because they've been watching 83 MPH sliders dropping out of the zone all night. Those fastballs looked 200 MPH the way they were swinging late. that shouldn't matter, they know this guy has 2 pitches and he throws one more than the other. even if they see a good slider, he's bound to come back with a fastball, they should have just sat dead red.
  12. yeah, good luck against saito. he hasn't given up a run in america.
  13. i can't believe that we don't just sit on this guy's fastball. soriano should have been able to hit that pitch 3 miles.
  14. can we somehow not hit ground balls against this guy who hasn't gotten anyone out all year? he's about to shut us out and get his second complete game against us. he's been tough on us forever.
  15. but you hate him for a rational reason, which makes you a non-meatball.
  16. cool, are we friends yet?
  17. why, because he hasn't hit in a handful of games? trust me, he'll be gone soon and he won't have caused even a particle of the damage that any of the guys you named did. i've heard of meatball hate, but this is ridiculous. actually it's ridiculous to keep calling people "meatballs." you supported the signing of edmonds; time to take your medicine. i don't get it. i wasn't telling anyone that this was for sure an awesome signing. i was saying that it was, at worst, a pointless signing. but you've decided to put words in my mouth, apparently. i'll not deny that one of my favorite pastimes is ridiculing the poor slobs who hate edmonds not for his offensive decline, but for his past with the cardinals and because he's apparently gay. if you hate him for one these meatball reasons, you're a meatball and you belong with da superfans. that's all. The gay jokes were old when he was a cardinal and they're getting embarrassing at this point. But I don't get why you think you can call people poor slobs and meatballs because they they don't like a particular player and they didn't want him signed by their favorite team and he took ABs (although limited ABs) from a young prospect...oh, and because he sucks. It's hard to separate all the reasons why people wouldn't like Edmonds, but it's disingenuous to suggest that most Cubs fans would hate for any former Cardinal to be signed by the Cubs. Hatred for this particular Cardinal can't be generalized to hatred of all Cardinals (at least for most people). There was a history with Edmonds and the Cubs (esp Z). He has a pretty bad reputation. And he's now terrible. But those are apparently meatball reasons, since you don't approve of them. You know what would make things easier? If you came up with a stupid little self-important "stamp of approval." are you sure you really want to do this, again? do what again? Have a discussion with you? Are you going to pick a word I use and just repeat it for 6 posts in a row, effecting ending the thread b/c you annoy everyone? hahaha. you have a wonderful imagination.

You were dying to get Edmonds on this team. 2-3 years ago, yes. but find a recent post of mine where i voice really any opinion other than give him a chance. i was interested in seeing what he could do with the cubs at this point in his career. it appears that the answer is "nothing", and finding out hasn't destroyed this team in any way.

Thanks, you stated exactly what I was trying (and failing) to say. i understood exactly what you were trying to say.
  21. holy crap, dude, lighten up. can't, meatballs are heavy. guh.
