  1. no, whiped his brown.
  2. How does a team accidentally sign someone? Obviously I meant the discovery of the fact was by accident.
  3. Not that it's directly draft related, but I feel better about the Dolphins not pursuing a pass rusher in the draft after discovering the 3 month old news that they signed Cameron Wake by accident. I couldn't even find him on the roster at any of the major sports sites, nor a mention at the major Dolphins fansites I peruse. How'd that go so far under the radar?
  4. I'm mad confused by the Dolphins' draft. I love the first two rounds--Davis is a stud, and Smith could also be a stud. Lots of size and overall athletic ability in a secondary that's been below average for years = good. The Eric Green signing isn't going to stop either of these guys from having a chance to start. There's almost no way the Dolphins shouldn't be able to field a quality secondary out of Will Allen, Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, Jason Allen, Gibril Wilson, Yeremiah Bell, Eric Green, and maybe even Chris Clemons. (BTW, i find it hilarious to get a guy named Clemons from Clemson.) Pat White was a surprise, but one that has at least three chances of success--qb, wr, or rb. For a team that had trouble stretching the field offensively last year, that's a strong potential positive. And, of course, there's the wildcat thing. On the other hand, the second day stuff is just kind of weird. Patrick Turner doesn't stretch the field, but he does give you a gigantic receiver with above average hands, so that's understandable, if a bit of a reach. At least it was until you drafted Brian Hartline 21 picks later. Huh? John Malbone with the next pick...a complete tight end prospect, but a long way from contributing, most likely. Maybe he's being groomed for when Fasano, Martin, or both are gone, but why pick tight end now? Chris Clemons is an interesting prospect at safety, but it's still perplexing that they've drafted 3 DBs and nobody on either line at this point. Finally, an OL in Andrew Gardner, a pick I liked at this point in the draft He's tall with a good frame and great feet. He's just not likely ready to contribute much, if anything, in '05. Moreover, he's a tackle. No guard? The Dolphins' line struggled when both starting guards last year went down. I guess they feel that good about Donald Thomas and Shawn Murphy, the 6th and 4th round picks from last year. I just think they could have used more depth or addressed the DL at all. And to wrap it up, LB JD Fulsom from Weber state...still no defensive line help for a team whose #2 sack provider had 3 last season. I guess the expectations for Langford and Merling are just that high. Fulsom will probably be a special teamer or get cut. All in all, the secndary should be massively improved from last year, and the WR corps should be deeper. I'm not sure Harline or Turner helps them make plays in the end zone, where the Dolphins had trouble (top 3 receivers had a total of 5 touchdown catches), but we'll see. The Fins are clearly banking on improvement from their young linemen, on both sides of the ball.
  5. how do you decide which teams to root for? cubs, rockets and 49ers??? Cubs, Dolphins, Lakers, and Oilers here.
  6. The Dolphins add depth to their interior line by taking Duke Robinson, OG, Oklahoma.
  7. You picked who I would have picked. How doe something happen EVERY TIME it's my turn to pick? I was watching the board specifically waiting for my turn, and somehow missed it. I even got a pm, and it was deleted before I got it. The hell?
  8. Neither does Dwight Howard. Not saying Griffin is as good as him, but when you're that good at playing back-to-basket and working from strength and athleticism, sometimes it doesn't matter so much that you lack the finesse skills. Put it this way: he had similar numbers to Beasley last year, and I think his game is better geared to immediate success at the next level than Beasley's.
  9. Something tells me Davis didn't beat Parcells. If this guy is a former starter on a team like the Dolphins, which went through interior lineman on a weekly basis, he's probably just not good. My understanding is he got injured midway through the year and missed the remainder of the year. The former part may mean that Jake Grove was definitely unseating him, but to my knowledge he was never outplayed for the job. Parcells may know what he's doing here (he deserves the benefit of the doubt), but this seems way too low of a price for a guy who's very talented but a little weak. He didn't miss any time this season. That was...pretty much every guard on the team. I'm a little alarmed at how little they got for him, even if they didn't see a future with hem. He was quite good in '07.
  10. Nice pick. I just woke up after driving from Atlanta on 30 minutes sleep....I vaguely remembered something about this.
  11. Nice pick. That's exactly who I would have picked if I didn't have a shady connection that requires me to sit on the ground in just the right position to make it.
  12. Orton hears a TO
  13. Here's hoping he signs with another team and makes another terrible rap song about it.
  14. The Miami Dolphins had a fantastic turnaround season in 2008, coming from 1-15 the previous season to 11-5, a division title, and a playoff berth this past one. They thrived on being okay to good in most areas and being exceptional at not giving the ball away. However, for the Dolphins to continue to be a playoff team, they cannot depend on such things to get them ahead. Never was this more evident as in their playoff game, when Chad Pennington threw 4 interceptions against the Ravens after having thrown 7 all season long prior. The Dolphins don't have an explosive enough offense or stout enough defense to come back, and to persist as a top team, they need to get stronger at the point of attack. The Dolphins' offensive line was pretty mediocre this season, though mediocrity was a sizable improvement over the previous year. Outside of #1 pick rookie and Pro Bowl alternate Jake Long at one tackle and Vernon Carey at the other, the line lacked consistency, especially after losing both starting guards to injuries before the midpoint in the season. Rookie standout Samson Satele suffered a bit of a slump in his second season, and the second stringers at guard were merely adequate. On the defensive side, The Dolphins boasted solid depth on the offensive line, but they struggled to get any pass rush outside of Jerry Porter. On the other hand, they did work several young players into the rotation who haven't seen their potential yet. The problem here is that most of the linemen targeted on either side of the board are off the board, and many of the others on the Dolphins' board would be somewhat of a reach or could possibly be available at a later pick. This would be a great position to either trade down or up, but given the constraints of this draft, the Dolphins choose to shore up the outside to take some pressure off the interior guys. The Dolphins' secondary was highly inconsistent, though it did improve over the course of the season. Still, the Dolphins would like a potential shutdown type back or a quality interception threat. They look at Sean Smith, who has terrific size, but they already have a guy like that in Jason Allen, and he hasn't done much in his time in Miami thus far. D.J. Moore's lack of size and pedestrian speed is a concern at this pick. On the offensive side, the Dolphins have a trio of solid receivers in Ted Ginn Jr, Greg Camarillo, and Davone Bess. Bess really came on late last year, and Ginn has shown flashes of being a big play threat. But Camarillo is coming off a major knee injury,, and there's a lack of deep speed outside of Ginn. The Dolphins roll the dice on a player with pedestrian numbers but tremendous upside and athleticism, selecting WR Darrius Heyward-Bey of the University of Maryland. Wow, that was ridiculously long-winded.
  15. Weird, it says in your link that it's 27.5 mil over 5. I am wondering how much of that is guaranteed, though. We all know NFL contracts are just renewable one-years.
  16. Wow, that's awesome for OKC. Why would NO do that, though? :-k
  17. It's funny that this has happened twice now. Celtics run up a long winning streak; Celtics play the Lakers; Celtics lose to the Lakers; Celtics proceed to drop game after game.
  18. kobe had a very james worthy-esque line. 61 points, 0 rebounds How is that James Worthy-esque?
  19. It's a freaking AWESOME idea. Horse with NBA-level players has the potential to get really creative and fun.
  20. Is it really perplexing? I mean, he was out of options...and he sucked right now...I think those two things are pretty much fact. Either they trade him for something/anything, or they risk losing him for nothing as he clears waivers. This was clearly the better option. I certainly understand the hand wringing over this, but I think that has more to do with Hill's failures than anything the Cubs failed at. Certainly you wish that the coaching staff could have worked him through his issues, but maybe it's just not meant to be. Better pitchers than Rich Hill (Rick Ankiel) caught a case of the mental yips and couldn't get it back, even with a pitching coach with the midas touch (Duncan), which Rothschild hasn't proven to be. I think this is just one of those moves that people will understandably be unhappy about, but understand. It's not that he was traded that's perplexing...it's the timing of it coupled with the fact that it's yet another trade with the Orioles that doesn't appear to help the team at all currently.
  21. Yet another perplexing move in this bizarre offseason.
  22. If last year was any indication 8-12 weeks means the rest of the regular season and the playoffs. Yeah, hopefully this time there are no loose bodies involved.
  23. Neither was Marino.
