  1. No. Luna for Belliard was pretty much an even deal where neither team improved that much or lost that much. This deal just plain sucks a fatty fatty ding dong. Just curious, but who would you have preferred from LA? I doubt they'd have given up any of the Martin/Ethier/Kemp group, and Guzman was sent to TB. I would've taken the single A throw-in on the Lugo deal. Or his sister. Or a urinal cake.
  2. He's due $4.15 million next year, and there is a $5.45 million option for 08 with a club buyout for $300k. For that kind of speed and defense he should be making at least $8 mil a year. God we're awesome.

  4. What an outrageous statement. Rabble rabble rabble! I like cheesecake! Where are my pants? You kids don't know squat. Where are my pants? Rabble rabble rabble.
  5. I hate this stupid baseball organization. I cannot f- believe this. Seriously. They may have ruined 70s night tomorrow for me AND I DIDN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT THE ACTUAL GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE.
  6. Those people are all morons. Giant, giant morons.
  7. Quoted for Truth. On the bright side Kevin Kennedy said on XM that the fans in Chicago would love Isturis. "Switch hitter and good glove, liitle bit of pop in his bat." Kennedy should go into PR for Enron. He has 11 career homers in 6 seasons, and a career SLG of .339, so if Kevin Kennedy means NONE WHATSO-F***ING-EVER when he says "little bit of pop in his bat" then yes, I agree with him
  8. 2B I would rather have than Todd Walker: Utley, Figgins, Uggla, Weeks, Phillips, Durham, Iguchi, Roberts, Freel, Barfield, J. Lopez, L. Castillo, Giles, Biggio, Loretta, Polanco, Vidro, Grudz, Kinsler, Kent, Cano, Cantu. THAT is what I mean by mediocre. Izturis?
  9. 06:$3.1M 07:$4.15M  08:$5.45M club option($0.3M buyout) Oh. My. God. That contract makes me yearn for Neifi's deal. We're going to pay $9.5m for a guy who can't put up a .300 OBP? What was Izturis's OBP in 2004 (his last healthy year)? .330. That was by far his career year, being the only one where he OBPed over .302 and OPSed over .667
  10. Christ, so it really is like having double Neifi. Wait, a MORE EXPENSIVE Neifi. Double turds
  11. Lugo to LA for Guzman and Sergio Pedroza.
  12. Sergio Pedroza. 2005 third rounder, with a .998 OPS in low A.
  13. Unbelievable, yet pretty much what I expected to happen. At the same time.
  14. What if it meant turning it into a baseball venue for one, maybe two years while Wrigley was thoroughly renovated? Okay, if we're playing what if, what if they do that, and while the Cubs are in the temp stadium, they win their first WS in 100+ years. Bet a lot of people wouldn't want them to tear down such a historic place. And then it collapses under the weight of 80k Cubs fans going ballistic, and they have to turn it into a mass gravesite due to the collapse and build a whole other stadium anyway. Wait, what were we talking about?
  15. Of all the players of his generation, he will be the most difficult for the USMNT to replace. IMO he was far more important than Reyna, and what's worse is that while we have some midfield talent to replace Reyna, we don't have anyone ready to replace McB. Do you guys think that Johnson has enought talent to fill that role? In the current system Johnson is an off forward alongside a target guy. The wings cross in or play up top to the target, who wins 50/50 balls in the air and knocks the ball down for the parter forward or the outside mids. I don't think using him to fill in for McB would be a wise use of his skillset. Right now the guys who would technically be replacements would be Brian Ching, and maybe Taylor Twellman and Nate Jaqua, which is why a new system is needed. Note that McBride was a world class single target man-type player up front. He is not easily replaceable.
  16. The whole point of a temporary stadium is to give Chicago the building with an 80k seating capacity that the olympic games demands noawadays. The chances of that stadium being renovated afterward into a Cubs stadium are pretty slim, IMO.
  17. Well, the havoc on the basepaths counts for something. WALKER!!

Its really going to be good thing a new coach will probably bring in a new attacking style. Hopefully we will know who that is going to be pretty soon. Klinsmann. it's a matter of time.
  19. Gee, we weren't tempting fate sending him out there for another inning or anything..... Even the patrons of the Evnaston, IL Chili's knew it wasn't going to end well.
  20. I'll have finished optometry school, which I haven't started yet. Also, I'll be there (god willing).
  21. If it has anything to do with "flute" or an "apple pie", we don't want to hear about it, vance..... what if it was a baseball bat or a well greased catcher's mit? better than a well greased baseball bat, I suppose.
