  1. I was at the Brewers game last June where Patterson made a full-extension diving catch on a line drive with a guy on 2nd and 1 out late in the game and the Cubs up 2-0, then stood up and doubled the guy off of second in about two microseconds. I like Pierre, but to even suggest that there's a possibility that he is a step up from CPatt in the field is absurd. I was at that game too. That was a fantastic play. The crowd went wild, and kept cheering him on as he came up to bat first in the bottom half. Too bad he immediately followed it up with a 3 or 4 pitch strikeout.
  2. I'll do it. But don't have any expectations of me. in terms of the Cubs winning, I mean.

    Who'd got a Super Bowl team left? I don't.
  4. WOOOHOOO 8) - Its not just me behind the boys in black and gold, then. Nope. Go Stillers!

<------- 4-1, with a better tiebreaker (proximity to Wrigley field)
  9. Go stillers!
  10. The news articles are fake, but the interviews are always real.
  11. Nah, that was the hockey coach that made me keep playing when I broke my other hand. Baseball with a broken hand is relatively easy. Ice hockey with a broken hand is quite a bit more difficult and painful.
  12. How much did he sign for with the Red Sox? 3 years, $25.5 million
  13. You think Kerry would have been ticked off if they shut him down w/ 50 too go?? Too bad Kerry has a heart.... I guess.... I had a baseball coach stop me from pitching in a teener league game once. I was throwing a one hitter and I'd gone 2 for 2 at the plate. However, on a pitcher coverage play at the plate two innings previously, I'd made a tag in an awkward position and come out shaking my hand. He watched my hand swell up for two innings and then decided to pull me out of the game. The next day when the swelling hadn't gone down I went to the orthopedic office and got x-rays. Sure enough, it was broken. Two years later, I was doing plate coverage drills in practice and made the same awkward tag and felt the same pain. I told my coach that i'd probably broken my hand again. He told me to take BP. It didn't hurt all that much on the first swing, and the batting glove kept the swelling down, so i took bp and finished out practice. The next day i went to the orthopedic office and got x-rays. My hand was broken again in the same place. Guess which coach I hold in higher regard.
  14. If only there was a way to make sure swordsman has this problem again in about 5 years when I'm no longer a student...
  15. It hasn't been announced yet. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the dugout and bullpen box seats (let's say, the regular and value dates) go up for sale on the first day of ticket sales this time. just a hunch, though, based on my perception of demand for those tickets around the neighborhood.
  16. As for the weather, weather.com went from saying a high of 38 to a high of 32 for Sunday. However, Tom Skilling is saying a high in the upper 40s. Someone's wrong. Probably weather.com
  17. The problem is that it's the exact opposite for money purposes. The weekday night games are in the spring and fall because otherwise they'd be value dates. The weekday day games are in the summer because they can still charge a lot for them since they're int he summer.
  18. take me. I'm currently going through a horrible divorce and all of my friends have moved to South America and I lost my job.
  19. I read Ryno's Yahoo column on a regular basis, and i have to say that it is generally the most unintelligent bunch of dreck I have read in a long, long time. For that reason alone, I would avoid him as manager.
  20. That's fine. let 'em keep believing that.
  21. Can we put a shock collar on Chris Berman so he stops making the "Whoop!" noise?
  22. LaVar graduated from Penn State! Did he? Oh, well in that case... I hate it when they inteview people that don't know how to speak. I remember MNF went to his home and he had a chess room. No joke! Are you serious? Wow. Yep. All of the chess pieces were about 5 or 6 feet tall.
  23. LaVar graduated from Penn State! Didn't he leave after his junior year? Did he come back and finish his degree? Oops. Forgot about that. Ok, I'm done defending LaVar. he wasn't a great character guy. Still isn't. But he's a hell of a physical specimen.
  24. please expound. i don't recall. I do remember him absolutely mauling people on kick coverage, though. Edit: Ah, against Pitt! No wonder I loved it!
