  1. Yeah but the umpires have to stand out in the sun the entire game. The players get to go in the dugout (and or clubhouse) between innings. And by the end of the game some of the players were probably on their second or third uniform shirt and undershirt.
  2. if the Cubs put him on waivers, I don't think he'd fall that far. He absolutely would pass through waivers. Name one team (non Yankees division) that probably has enough room to add Aramis's contract without first finding a way to shed payroll? Red Sox?
  3. Really I see him as a Matt Clement type guy. A guy who can go out and give you 7 innings, 0 ER, or a guy who will go 3 and give up 7, but usually ends up somewhere in the middle and hopefully with more towards the former. Look at Wells' July to see how good he can be over multiple starts.
  4. It's not all that long ago that the system was very highly regarded. I would consider almost a decade ago to be a very long time in baseball. Okay then. So to you, "in the past" means 5-8 years ago? No. I consider it the future.

  6. Ahhhh, the sweet smell of average. Smells better then the crap that was the system in the past. Also, I hate these types of articles. It's clear that the writer didn't really look into the system at all and only perused a couple of old articles about the system. I wouldn't trust this article for any info or opinion on the Cubs system or any others.
  7. Torn ACL: http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-braves-blog/2010/08/12/mri-shows-jones-has-torn-acl-agent-said/?cxntlid=brkng_nws_bnr Crappy way to end a career if he does retire.
  8. I predict: Cubs lose 5-1 Dempster goes 7, 4R (3 ER), gvillecubs or whatever his name is shows up to moan about how he didn't throw a perfect game and therefore is over paid.
  9. Whatever happened was during an inning. Boise was losing 2-0 with 2 out in the bottom of the 1st. The last play was a run-scoring double. Nothing in the game recap indicates the reason for the forfeit. Jody Davis told the umps to suck it. Seriously though, there was a rain delay and Davis didn't think the field was playable, but the umps did. He refused to have the Hawks take the field and the umps called the game a forfeit: http://www.ktvb.com/sports/boise-hawks/Hawks-forfeit-at-Everett-100207394.html
  10. I just got home from the Peoria game and damn did they suck tonight. (Both teams did) The 1st inning took almost an hour to complete and ended with the Chiefs leading 3-1. There was 1 hit in the entire inning, a 2 run single from Mercedes. (It didn't help that the River Bandits pitcher was trying to be Steve Trachsel and take as long as possible between pitches.) Wallach did not look good. He had no control and little movement. Hopefully whoever worked with Archer can help him, because if he doesn't improve dramatically, he isn't getting past Daytona at best. There were two plays by the Chiefs that pissed me off. One was a bunt where Logan Watkins didn't bother to cover first. Luckily Wallach was able to run and barely tag the batter. The second was a possible DP fielded by Bour to Lee, but the pitcher at the time once again didn't cover first. This is just stupidity. I guess the entire Cubs organization is infected by it. Lee looked okay at the play and had a couple slick plays at short. Bour sucks. Ha is improving but still needs to build his pitch recognition.
  11. I think Jason Kubel did it last year, but I'm too lazy to look it up. I think the walkoff was a grand slam, too. It was the game-winning hit but happened in the bottom of the 8th.
  12. I highly doubt it since he has only thrown 28 innings in AA. With Bibens-Dirkx, Jay Jackson, Samardizja, Mathes, Atkins and Coleman all already in Iowa, they don't need another starter. I would hope for Cashner to go back down and get back to starting. Carpenter could also be moved up, I think.
  13. We already have too many outfielders. And I like Hermida. DFA Nady. Problem solved This. DFA Nady (31) and replace with Hermida (26)
  14. Bruce Miles thinks that is why Diamond was pulled early from his start a couple days ago. That's where I got the rumor from.
  15. I'm pretty happy with the return. Wallach could turn into Archer Part 2 which would be great and Dewitt is a decent player who can hold down 2b until Hak-Ju Lee or whoever may be ready. At this point, thanks to the Astros and the DBacks driving down the price of their stars, getting this much back for Lilly is great. I don't trust Hendry not to do something stupid, such as either not offering arbitration or just re-signing Lilly. I hope the Cubs dangle Fontenot, but luckily even though the trade deadline is in 25 minutes from when I'm typing this, Fontenot can probably get through waivers or at least be a waiver claim deal easily enough. I don't know what the Cubs could get back for him, but he is superfluous at this point.
  16. Rumor is that Thomas Diamond will be called up.
  17. I will give props to Howry for not flinching.
