  1. There's no way in hell I'd pay for that Lexus. As Clarkson said: It's six times the cost of a Nissan GTR but nowhere near six times the car.
  2. 3. He finally stopped looking for somebody to pass to and just shot the damn thing. The goalie looked hilarious as the ball went pass his head.
  4. He already quit. He's just still drawing a check. It's clearly a glitch that needs to be fixed.
  5. Eh? Wouldn't Slovenia have 5? No, Slovenia beat Algeria (3), are about to beat us (3) and would get a point for the draw with England (1), totaling 7. He says that this would be a draw. That would require the US actually shooting the damn ball first, though.
  6. I love how ESPN has decided that American viewers are idiots and that they need to keep telling us that this game is not an elimination game. They just had a graphic under the score and during the pregame mentioned it several times.
  7. I missed the first yellow but the second was tripping from behind. The ref has been extremely random and strict (read: crappy).
  8. He had 3 really good years for TB from 06-08, but was sidetracked with an injuries over that time. That and he is lacking in some control/is inefficient in his pitches. This year his numbers have been inflated by three starts where he gave up 6, 7, and 5 ER over a low amount of innings, but otherwise hasn't been horrible (still inefficient at times). In 3 starts in June he has been 3-0 with a 1.353 WHIP and 2.12 ERA, however he only pitched into the 7th once. TB traded him mostly due to the fact that he is owed 8mil this year and 12 next year (13.5 in 2012 or a 2m buyout). They did get a pretty good pitching prospect in Torres back (9th overall in TB's system according to BA in 2010)
  9. Arizona. And it was more than just DD.
  10. Lou calls for Nady to suicide squeeze and he pops the bunt right to the pitcher, getting Fukudome caught off third.
  11. Since they won Sunday, this would be game 2 of the streak.
  12. Trevor Cahill, RHP (5-2, 2.91) Athletics (32-33) @ Carlos Zambrano, RHP (2-4, 6.05) Cubs (28-35) Athletics: Cahill turned in one of the finest performances of his career in his last start, a 6-1 win over the Angels. The 22-year-old right-hander tossed a career-high eight innings, allowing an earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out four. Since taking over for an injured Justin Duchscherer in Oakland's rotation, Cahill has proved to be one of the A's most consistent pitchers. He's thrown a quality start in each of his last six outings, going 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA in that span. Cubs: Zambrano gave up two hits in five innings in his last start against the Brewers but he also walked five. He was pulled after throwing 88 pitches. It was his second start since returning to the rotation after 13 relief appearances. The Cubs are hoping that with more starts, he'll improve his command. He has faced the Athletics once, and that was in 2004. So far this season. Zambrano is 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA at home and 2-3 with a 6.91 ERA on the road. Those numbers include his relief appearances. 13. Theriot really does not want to see more than one pitch, does he?
  14. Missing 2010 stats: http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-basebl/stats/2009-2010/lgplyrs.html .355/.388/.478 2Hr, 11 2B...
  15. Gavin Floyd, RHP (2-6, 6.18) White Sox (28-33) @ Ted Lilly, LHP (1-5, 3.28) Cubs (27-35) White Sox: Floyd pitched well enough to win his last start, as he held Detroit to one run in six innings. He left the bases loaded in the second inning, and followed that up by leaving two on in the third. The only run was scored when Brandon Inge's single in the sixth knocked in Ryan Raburn, who led off the frame with a double. Unfortunately for Floyd, he didn't get the win, as the bullpen imploded in the seventh inning and the Tigers pushed across six runs. Floyd has one career start against the Cubs, and in that start he went seven innings, giving up one run over four hits. Cubs: Lilly did not get a decision in his last start against the Brewers. It was his sixth straight quality start -- and he has not earned a win in any of them. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Lilly is the second pitcher in Cubs history to go winless over six consecutive quality starts. The other was Sheriff Blake in 1926. Lilly struck out six Brewers, a season high, and gave up one run on Corey Hart's home run. Maybe this time, he'll get some run support. Maybe the Cubs will...ah, who am I kidding, here's to sucking! can you say time for a fire sale? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3295/2749578265_6cb0757802.jpg And to provide some cheer, here's a couple random images: http://gadgets.boingboing.net/gimages/fail-owned-circuit-city-employee-intelligence-fail3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v387/sweetpeteman/2yv3ofajpg.gif
  16. Anybody bet that Lou pinch-hits Hill for Soto?
  17. Bour has homerun power. The one he hit tonight was to deep left-center and made it out by a good distance. He just needs to be able to use it. Lee had a good first AB before K-ing, and didn't look too bad in any of his AB's. The ump was inconsistent all night (ask the Loons' third-baseman Ruggiano, who probably would have been tossed if the ump had been looking at him after either of his strikeouts). Lee's single was a line drive to right with two on. Webster (Loons' pitcher) had them guessing for the first couple of innings and made a couple of the batters look really bad before the bottom of the third. The Chiefs' took more pitches that inning and let Webster get himself in trouble. McNutt pitched well, I can't give you speed numbers, the park gun wasn't active. He usually got ahead of hitters, but couldn't seem to finish them quickly. The only hard hit ball was in the first, a deep line drive to right that turned out to be only a long single.
  18. Over under on the number of pitches Theriot sees before he grounds into the DP?
  19. http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/img/2010/06/10/0609-Derrek-Lee-Primary_20100610010302_660_320.JPG Not only has he stopped shaving, but in that photo he looks really pale and even sickly.
  20. You are the most oblivious [expletive] person in the world no, it is a fair question. Len and bob announce this name at the beginning of the inning to win 1100 powerball tickets is someone hits a homerun. I just want to know if any cub has hit a homerun during the particular inning. Now, if you didn't know you didn't have to say a thing, but obviously it makes you feel better to use language that big people use in movies. When you graduate from high school feel free to engage in a conversation with adults in a mature manner. Oblivious isn't "language that big people use in movies" to most people. Its just a damn word.
  21. I thought I saw that. I also thought I heard them say change-up and the radar to say 91, which made me laugh. Funny note, the MLBN broadcast showed a graphic that said "Willingham Solo Shot (1)" while Dunn was still rounding the bases. It was rigged I tell you!
  22. Yeah, that .790 OPS is horrendous...
  23. Well, C.C. went missing in action, Butters broke his leg and they had to shoot him, and Ski has been imprisoned in North Dakota, where they only have 3 seasons..... July, August, and Winter !!! and besides, he would have done the game thread in anime anyway, so.... what am I do ??? Well, I gave C.C. a few games and pmed butters, but no response yet. I say we give Butters until 8am or so tomorrow to start the next thread, if not, on to Ski! And if he fails, whoever is next!
  24. By this definition, Mark Buerhle has 2 perfect games. (In his no-hitter, he walked Sosa and then picked him off)
  25. Game on AM560 due to Blackhawks Minute Maid Park | 8:05 PM ET Carlos Zambrano, RHP (1-3, 6.12) Cubs (24-29) @ Felipe Paulino, RHP (0-7, 4.40) Astros (20-34) Cubs: This will be Zambrano's first start since April 20. The right-hander moved to the bullpen to make room in the rotation for Ted Lilly and also to give the team a potent setup pitcher. He was effective until May 14 against the Pirates, when he gave up three runs on four hits over one inning. Zambrano then said he wasn't comfortable in the role and wanted to go back to the rotation. Since that game against the Pirates, he has given up one hit over 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Big Z tuned up with a 73-pitch simulated game last Monday. In four starts, Zambrano was 1-2 with a 7.45 ERA. He's made 13 relief outings, including Saturday, when he needed just two pitches to get a double play and end the eighth against the Cardinals. Astros: Paulino has started the season with seven consecutive losses, but it's not all because he's not pitching well. He has a respectable 4.40 ERA and has had the worst run support in the National League this season. Witness his most recent start Sunday against the Reds, in which Paulino threw eight scoreless innings and gave up four hits, four walks and struck out five batters. The game was tied at 0-0 before the Astros won in extra innings. In his Past three starts, he's allowed four earned runs in 20 innings. He's given up just two home runs all year in 59 1/3 innings, but walks continue to be a problem (34). Paulino faced the Cubs on April 16 in Chicago and took the loss, giving up six hits and five earned runs in six innings. He's 0-2 with a 7.82 ERA in three career games against the Cubs, including two starts.
