  1. They updated the article to say he's getting Tommy John surgery.
  2. Like hell you will be, that spot's mine!
  3. It's so dead, this is yesterday's game thread because no one can be bothered to start them. It's not even May. We may just want to go to series threads.
  4. According to capfriendly he has one more year, so he's probably not officially retiring until after next year and will be on the LTIR next season.
  5. Shaw is retiring due to concussions.
  6. I think we forgot how much the Mets also suck.
  7. Ross is forfeiting the game to get Winkler cut.
  8. Meanwhile Contreras hits it right back at the pitcher and gets a single.
  9. but think of the market inefficiencies, dude
  10. Because this front office has difficulty admitting when they're wrong. They have theories on how teams should be built and run and will not deviate from that. Further, they're trying to find the new "inefficiencies" when this is an organization that doesn't need to do that.
  11. I have a hot take on this: It's not they're free-swingers, it's that they're free-swingers trying not to swing and ending up swinging at the wrong pitches. Going into this game they were tied with the Padres with the lowest swing percent at 42.7. They were also the 4th lowest contact percentage. Seems like they aren't swinging and when they do swing, it's terrible. Working the count is great and taking pitches and making pitchers work is great in theory, but I don't think this team has the talent to do it and needs to actually be a little more free-swinging, and that this has been a part of the issue for the past few years.
  12. Dexter tore his ACL, could be a career ender at this point.
  13. Could've been a 4 pitch walk without Willson's framing.
  14. well that was a horsefeathering clutch shot.
  15. If you have t-mobile or sprint, today's the day to sign up for the mlb.tv deal. you have to download the t-mobile tuesdays app to redeem it, but you can uninstall it after.

  17. 2-4-1 in their last 7 with a -11 GD. Competition stepped up and the Hawks have not so far This stretch was always coming. They played the 1st 4 games of the season against TB and Florida and got their asses kicked and then was able to play the rest of the this crappy division for the next month and a half save for 3 games against Carolina. Now they played 5 of 7 against good teams (and I don't think Dallas is as bad as their record indicates) and look like crap again. They have 4 more against TB and Florida this next week, 2 against the Nashville, and then 2 against Carolina before getting another stretch against the crap teams. The real fun is that they end the season with 6 games against TB(1), Florida (2), and Carolina (3) before the last 2 against Dallas. That'll be a fun stretch, especially since Dallas probably should be fighting the Hawks for 4th in the division by that point (if the Hawks are even still in it).
  18. I would theorize that if he's not going to make it (or at least, isn't going be all that special), it's because despite throwing 100+, batters don't seem to have that much trouble making contact, especially on pitches in the zone.
  19. That's not a real person, that's somebody's DnD character.
  20. WAR may be literally the worst metric to evaluate RPs than any stat for the non elite guys. ERA, Saves, Holds and wins mean more. It also ignores that -1.2 of that comes in his first two seasons in 2013 and 14 before he got injured. I mean, I don't think much of this signing, but if I noted that the Cubs traded for a guy with a career 1.8 rWAR, with 2.4 of that coming in the season prior, I'd be talking about Pedro Strop.
  21. Their defense is going to have to make a stop that isn't handed to them by Brady.
  22. The Red Wings are at a completely higher level of suck then the Hawks, who are terrible.
  23. Cleveland's defense is crap? If it wasn't for Henne gifting them an interception on the last drive, they would've given up at least a FG attempt.
