  1. I'm trying to not start laughing in the middle of a family gathering right now.
  2. I was mostly replying to IrrDudes original post about Teix, Encarnacion, Bautista, and Ramirez but was also at work and missed the other posts. He posted 4 guys and had a response about Mervis being 25, but two of them didn't really succeed until they were 29 and in Toronto. Frankly, if Mervis puts up Edwin's line of .260/.336/.453 (with 24 hr and 81 rbi per 162 gp because those certainly are stats) from his pre-29 years, I'd consider that a huge success. Especially in todays game where last year Josh Bell put up a similar line (although split between being good in WAS and ass in SD) and had an OPS+ of 128.
  3. Encarnacion was mediocre and Baustista sucked until they were 29.
  4. Lance Lynn had a no-hitter through 6. Gave up a homerun on a 0-2 count to Franco to start the 7th, a k, single, double with an error to let Parades advance to third, and walk later is finally pulled. Bummer comes in and gets a ground ball but it still ends up being a game tying infield single. And now the Rays are leading.
  5. Seems like they weren't going to take Carter and Philly offered essentially a free pick.
  6. I really don't need that ultra close-up of a nutjob Philly fan there, ESPN. Thanks.
  7. They could only get a 4th for next year for pick 10, may not be anyone looking to move up at this point.
  8. One of the funniest things was back from 2012-2015, while the Cubs rebuilt and the White Sox "kept trying to compete", they both ended up going 297-351 over those 4 years.
  9. From reddit, Smyly with his hand on the ball and Peralta about half-way down the line.
  10. Probably due to the long inning and the lefties due up.
  11. I'm fine with that send with two outs, with 1 that's a bad send.
  12. Pitt wins and they're in control of making the playoffs with a 1 point lead over the Islanders with each team having one to play, Islanders against Montreal, and Pitt getting CBJ. Pitt: Nah, screw that.
  13. I think Kyle Finnegan is supposed to be their closer, but he had already been used in the 8th. They went to the 9th leading 7-2. Their bullpen is really bad.
  14. Bryant is currently facing Carl Edwards Jr in Colorado down 1 with 2 on and 2 out. And he K's.
  15. Tree fell at the Masters.
  16. I was seeing the Social forums before but now I'm not, please add.
  17. In this moment I am both happy and sad.

  19. Mexico is up 10-3 in the 8th inning so looking like Mexico will advance and finish 1st if the US wins. Also keeps alive the small chance that the US can advance with a 1 run loss. Hypothetical as the US is the "away" team: if it's a tie game, bottom of the ninth and a runner reaches, do you balk him in?
  20. I went to the game last night and while I fully acknowledge that it's better for them to lose, that was a fun game to be at. Got tickets 6 rows back behind the visitor penalty box.
  21. From Baseball America: Do Shorter Games Lead To Lower Concessions Sales? Spoiler alert: Betteridge's Law applies.
  22. Who is the "them" in this sentence? The Blackhawks or the Rangers? Assume he means the Blackhawks. How many times has a prominent player in any sport been traded half way through their final season under contract and then returned in FA? It's happened before but seems like most of those cases are players who have played their whole career one place, then they realize its not bad playing for another team so they are more willing to sign elsewhere. If I was a betting man, Patrick Kane will never play another game for the Blackhawks again (Especially because Stan Bowman is no longer in charge). Think about it, the Hawks are like 3-5 years away from potentially being good again, why would a 35 year old Patrick Kane after experiencing the thrill of the NHL playoffs for the first time in more than half a decade (outside of the bubble), choose to sign back with a team still in the beginning stages of a rebuild? I was thinking that while they're still a few years from competing, they still need to have a team and bringing back the fan favorite for his final years would make sense. It also seemed like Kane was looking to finish his career here and unlike other players, he may not care about chasing a cup at this point. That being said, I am retracting my statement based on the statements released by the Blackhawks. They seem pretty much like this is the end, although that may just be them trying to avoid any tampering nonsense.
  23. While it's low, I'm not that surprised. They were the only team Kane was going to go to that was negotiating (there were rumors he'd be willing to go to Toronto, but they already used up their cap space). There was almost no leverage on the Blackhawks side to force a better deal, it was pretty much this or nothing. I still expect them to re-sign Kane in the offseason.
