  1. No, but thats mostly because I don't go to many movies in the first place, so unless other people are already going and invite me, or a friend suggests it, I probably wouldn't go anyways.
  2. Maybe they can pry Lenny Harris away from his job as hitting coach for the Nats. Hell, the Nats would probably benefit.
  3. Cool. Its a great time. Like he said, there are a bunch of bars and stores right around Wrigley and in the area. Can't tell you about food or what not being from Chicago anyways, but for transportation, you might as well just walk the six blocks, it isn't that far. If you want to go into downtown, look up the El stops, that would probably be the best. Gates open 2 hours before game time.
  4. The TBS people are talking about Kazmier for Victor Zambrano, so what does TBS do? Go to a camera showing Big Z. Good job TBS.
  5. When I was still in Peoria, for one of the Cubs @ Pitt games that went into extras the CSNC broadcast suddenly switched from the game to the Peoria Pirates (arena football) coach's show. I guess they decided that a coach's show for a team that has failed twice already is more important than a Cubs game. Morons.
  6. All you missed was an amazingly slow Ward getting easily thrown out by Ankiel at the plate.
  7. Dorrel Werd, according to whoever is working with Chip on TBS.
  8. Typical Cubs/Cards tilt. Do blowouts ever happen when these two teams play. I think I remeber a game in 98 where the Cards scored a bajillion runs in the first inning but that's about all I can remember. We were blowing them out the one year up 8 I think and proceeded to lose on Pujols' 3rd bomb. Taguchi of all people went deep too, what an awful game that was. Yeah, but in another game Neifi hit a grand slam in extra innings against the Cards, so it balances out.
  9. Think our injuries are bad? While nobody expected the Nats to do anything this year, still, they are missing: Cordero - out for year, torn labrum Shawn Hill - while not a front line starter, still been expected to be a 3/4. Elbow soreness... Ryan Wagner - shoulder surgery, no timetable Estrada - elbow, expected back soon Johnson - out for year Zimmerman - torn labrum, could be back, but probably not until August/September at the earliest. Kearns - should be back soon. (Rehab at AAA Columbus) Milledge - strained groin Thats 5 starters (2 OF, 2IF, C), a starting pitcher they were counting on, their closer, and a BP pitcher who could be an important part. Ouch.
  10. Who would be available? If the Tigers continue to suck, I could see Renteria being available, but that isn't likely.
  11. yeah, his OBP isn't near .400 or anything. His OBP is reasonable, but his baserunning mistakes and his defense really hurt him. The Cubs could upgrade, imo. Nice curve! Yeah, but I don't know who you would go after that would be any better.
  12. Did Lou get ejected? I just got home. Yeah, apparently "swinging" is no longer a strike for the white sox, so lou killed, fried, and ate the umpire.
  13. please ban this guy Yeah, this isn't trolling how? This has become painfully obvious.
  14. I'm spot starting for MrWood who has not been around. We get the glorious Joe "Bank's Baskets and other crud I've made up" Morgan back again this week for our Sunday game. Maybe he will tell us more about Al Oliver Pitching for the Chicago Cubs: Sean Marshall 0-1 5.40 Cubs: Marshall gets his second and likely last start in place of the injured Carlos Zambrano. He flashed strong pitching, with seven strikeouts, but was eventually chased by the Orioles after giving up four runs in 4 2/3 innings on Tuesday. The loss ended the Cubs' 14-game home winning streak. Marshall is 1-1 with a 2.92 ERA career against the White Sox and tossed 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball against the crosstown rivals in 2007. Last time the White Sox faced Sean, he owned them: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA200706240.shtml We'd appreciate it if he did it again. Pitching for the Chicago White Sox: Who's Mark Buerhle? 5-6 4.04 White Sox: It was a momentous night for Buehrle, as the White Sox ace left-hander struck out two during a 6-1 victory over the Dodgers, which gave him exactly 1,000 strikeouts for his career. Buehrle pitched exactly eight innings for his fourth straight start, allowing one run on six hits, and not issuing a walk. Buehrle now has a 3-0 record with a 1.36 ERA over his last four starts, allowing five earned runs in 32 innings. Buehrle has a 3-4 record with a 5.10 ERA lifetime against the Cubs. Last time the Cubs faced Buehrle, they whacked him for a couple before adding three in the ninth: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA200706220.shtml
  15. I worry that they might fire Ed Wade.
  16. If we look back on the past week, certain things can be said. 1. The offense, despite crapping out in the 9th today, has been fine. Lee looks like he is getting hot and starting to hit more line drives. ARam will come through again. 2. Marquis needs to go. When he doesn't give up a lot of runs, its by luck, not skill. 3. Dempster had a bad outing. It happens. 4. Gallagher has been doing well up to today, and today was after 9 days off, which was stupid. I don't know who some of you want to replace him, but I'm fine with him. In his last outing before today he held one of the best teams in the league to 1 run over six innings. While he needs to get his innings up, he did give us 7 today, and besides, hes what? 23. For being 23, he is doing very well, and could be an important trade asset or starter. He is not the issue. 5. Marmol got unlucky today. Quentin basically threw the bat at the ball and managed to get it up into the wind. No wind an it probably doesn't make the warning track. 6. Z will be back, so will Soriano, and Johnson. Right now besides those three, Edmonds and Fukudome are hurting. We are relying on people like Fontenot, Cedeno, and Patterson, who despite his hot first two games here, really has not hit at this level, to come through for us. The Cubs need another starter, but he would not have helped the last two games.
  17. Hopefully this Sean Marshall will show up tomorrow.
  18. 3-1 says that Ward singles, but Lee stops at 3rd, and just as Aram is about to bat, Fox cuts to NY.
  19. Knowing our luck, the next three outs will be a diving catch in the outfield, a dive at a line drive that hits off of the glove of Crede but stays up long enough for Cabrera, and a leaping catch by old man Dye at the wall to rob ARam.
