    Can we now say Happ is having a terrible season or is it still bad luck ? He 19 for his last 100 AB I would love to see him get his numbers up to average, cause he really would have to go off these final 6 weeks

    But they chose the guy that had an injury caution on him , and jed took him cause he was likely the cheapest cost in prospects he had to give up 🤷‍♂️

    This is going to be a good weekend for the cubs, not just winning but I have a feeling the Mets will handle the Brewers this weekend too.

    Their arms and selves are obviously going to get tired, i was assistant coach for a few years that started with 12U up to 18U girls softball/travel ball basically same group of girls (with daughters), had a team in 2009 that won State and went to South Bend for regional. We had 2 pitchers the main one and one that would pitch 2 innings in each game to give her a rest. They would play 3-5 games a day Thursday or Fridays to Sunday😅

    My opinion, biggest difference between the pitchers of today compared to 30 plus years ago is a couple things. one is that these kids are growing up throwing majority breaking balls from little league on up and it eventually catches up to them. I remember back in the days curveballs were limited in little league and in high school coaches emphasized more on fastball location and change ups, with curves being the 3rd pitch. That why guys like Ryan, Carlton, etc had longevity. The other reason is all the weight lifting they do now is a major cause of injuries, especially with hamstrings and abdominal strains, back then it was more about stretching and running, just keeping the arms loose and legs strong. We can also kinda blame that these kids aren't stretched out enough early on in minors to throw 100 plus pitches a game like before, now i think they mostly max out around 60 or so in minors before being pulled and I'd bet the majority of their pitches are breaking balls for most of these starters. Why we see these kids coming up and majority struggle to go 5 innings and can pitch a full season.

    I wonder if the Cubs arent even considering Horton for postseason and will shut him down in September, with both Taillon and Assad due back and they can use Brown in September. This is the most innings he has pitched since 2022 and in his pro career by far. 2022 53 innings last year in college 2023 88 innings combined in minors 2024 34 innings combined 2025 he has 108 innings combined now Figure he has 4 more starts left and probably 20-24 innings overall to get him over 130 IP.

    More then arguments, those were the reasons.. Plus you can add Dusty nor the pitching coach came out to settle Prior and the rest of team down after that play when you could clearly see it was troubling him/them.

    Lol, no it wasn't Bartman fault.. Gonzalez had a taylor made DP and blew it. They were up 3 games to 1 with Zambrano Prior and Wood plus 2 home games to get 1 win. Had a 3 run lead in 8th in game 6, had a 5-3 lead in game 7 They choked

    I have no doubt that they'll make the playoffs this season, I dont see this team being any worse then finishing out the season playing 500 ball(25-25), nor do I see the Reds playing almost Brewers level baseball their last 50 to knock them out. Question for the Cubs is whether or not they'll be able to play alot better then 500 to get back into 1st place or if the Brewers will become human again and go into any kind of slump to give the Cubs an actual chance to catch them. Also once they get into postseason play, will the pitching they have be good enough to keep them in these games , and which offense will we see, the struggling one or the ones that can put up some runs. So, yea it sucks to see this team go from world beaters to just being ok, but they'll likely end up being good enough the rest of way to hold a playoff spot and then it'll be hoping they all can click once theyre there. Also, as much as that 5 games series against the Brewers can kick them to the curb, especially for any chance at the Division, it could also be a series that can really ignite them and get them back to playing 600 baseball the rest of way.

    I get what youre saying but isn't his finger injury supposedly the cause of his hitting woes, mainly the lack of power?
