  1. Masterbone traded to Mariners in case anyone cares
  2. What would next season and beyond money for Tucker or anyone extension havevto do with this year's payroll? Just curious to know if there is something there
  3. We should find out soon if Jed has a plan B, C, or D now as far as adding another SP. https://x.com/sahadevsharma/status/1878938392207220876?t=onu2Vjrj6u84WFDLc8iK3Q&s=19
  4. I was agreeing with Brian with the cheap part per se, I do think theyre waiting. I also agree with you with getting an answer from him one way or other so another team don't back in on the IFAs they agreed with while waiting for Sasaki answer.
  5. I agree what you said above, just frickn say who you're going to instead of having this elimination countdown. Is he going to hold a press conference tomorrow with caps in front of him and put on the team he chooses like the high-school kids do 😏😏 Padres, Cubs or Dodgers, just gotta hope the Cubs were more convincing and the city he'd prefer playing in.
  6. That true, and i believe that the reason they're waiting on him because he would be a great talent that would be very cheap.
  7. Correct, this isn't about offering him the best contract to convince him to come, this is more about presentation and convincing him that he'd have a greater opportunity of success playing in Chicago then elsewhere, but it also boils down to more of his preference and where he feels most comfortable at. I just hope he makes his decision this week so that if Hoyer has a plan B, C, and D , he makes those moves.

  9. I saw they're interested in Brook Raley 😏
  10. Like I said, he might check and see what teams are looking for in return for a player they are looking to move, doesn't always mean he wants them or looking to make offers yet. I think reporters get wind that teams had a conversation, then just report there's interest whether there really is or isn't. I don't know, I guess I'm just not a fan of Hoyer and the way he goes about putting a roster together so I don't give him a benefit of the doubt when it comes to how he goes about his job. I think he relies too much on catching lightning in a bottle with his acquisitions.
  11. I honestly think that Hoyer probably checks in with an agent on a FA to get an idea of what it'll cost or may ask a team about a player's availability, but I don't think he actively goes after certain players and does whatever it takes to get a deal done for them outside of someone like Tucker or say Imanaga last offseason. I mean who actively goes after guys like Brujan, Festa, Heller, etc.
  12. Unless he is traded, Assad will likely start on the Major League roster either as a 5th starter or in bullpen, I just dont see how they can leave him off the roster.
  13. I dont think theyre going "after" anyone as you know... I just think theyre hoping Sasaki chooses them and if he doesn't theyll just go into ST with what they have for the 5th starting spot/depth. Assad, Rea, Wicks, Poteet, Brown, Horton, Jensen I do to hope that if they don't get Sasaki that Hoyer will get more aggressive in a trade for a SP, especially for someone that could drop Taillon and Boyd down a slot.
  14. This is what I was saying above, they spend cheaply on a bunch of guys that'll end up released or depth over using the sum of that cost towards one or two guys that could actually be a good part of the team
  15. What icks me, is that they spend 1 to 5 mil per on a handful of pitchers that most will probably not even play with them all season or get DFA and end up in AAA, when they can use that sum of that money towards someone who can actually be a good part of the rotation or bullpen.
  16. These are the type of signing I expected out of Hoyer going forward, cheap 1-2 yr deals and hopefuls. All the hope to get this and that guy goes put the window with Hoyer, he'll i believe the only reason he made the move for Tucker was because he a cheap money wise 1 year rental that will keep fans excited to watch.
  17. Here your new SP, gotta stop thinking Hoyer gonna add solid ball players to the roster, he goes for cheap hopeful and 1-2 yrs guys at a low cost.
  18. The rest of the lineup as a whole is a question mark... Tucker a big upgrade over Bellinger, but we don't know what to expect out of Amaya, Busch(2nd full season), Hoerner when he returns from IL, Shaw or whomever ends up at 3B, and a full season of PCA. We hope Happ, and Suzuki can have another good season and Swanson has a better one to help Tucker out, otherwise it could be like 2023 when Bellinger was putting up good numbers with not much help overall.
  19. It not him that I doubt, it everyone else around him in the lineup that has question marks attached to them for what type of production we'll see out of them. He could put up 1987 Dawson numbers but they could still just be a 500ish team with the lineup and pitching
  20. Looks like the Cubs needed that 2.5 mil difference to get Matt Festa in that trade. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🤦‍♂️
  21. If he ends up leaving after 1 year, Hoyer should be fired for giving up a top prospect and 2 young players for him. It not like they're a Tucker's bat away from potentially going to a World Series or even the playoffs for that matter.
  22. https://x.com/Feinsand/status/1877411995651068242?t=nHuTVZNWEkzm89HGx-8rxg&s=19
  23. Best thing for the cubs to do this next week is extend both Steele and Tucker. Not being able to extend Tucker and letting him test FA and likely losing him after 1 season would be a disaster for this franchise and Jed Hoyer. He would have given up a top prospect and 2 young major league players for 1 season of a player that despite how talented he is, wasn't going to put the roster into championship caliber mode and could still miss out on being in the postseason.
  24. Verlander and Giants agree on a 1 year deal
  25. Kinda wish Hoyer would just put his focus right now on trying to sign both Jeff Hoffman and Tanner Scott for the bullpen.
