  2. As the roster is now, id go with 85 wins. I think they just keep their heads above water all season, no long streaks either way.
  3. Im surprise they haven't added Chafin yet.. Robertson and Chafin would be nice final pieces for the bullpen.
  4. Maybe Rickett just getting ready for the lockout 2027 season when the CBA expires in December 2026. Owners might start playing hardball with the salaries and want some kind of cap 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  5. I certainly hope Hoyer makes sure Bregman is here for at least 3-4 years if he willing to give up those 2 draft picks for him.
  6. Im guessing that too.. He'll likely make up.his mind when all players are due to report, but i can see him preferring the Cubs but hoping they'll up the years.
  7. So, do i now need to check this thread and the other transaction one to see if something has been mentioned 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 Justin Turner has it own thread and is now being discussed here too, you all confused the he'll out of me here. Lol
  8. I'll be ok if it a minor league deal, but knowing Hoyer it'll be a 2 year deal and they'll end up releasing him before July.
  9. “The Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros have all made offers of at least four years to Bregman, but no one has been willing to meet his asking price.” - @BNightengale who says the Cubs have been unwilling to go over three years. Lol, Hoyer like, if you wanna play here it'll be on our term
  10. He gonna sign on Friday when the rest of Cubs players are to report.. It'll Be Valentine Day so the headlines will be special ❤️😅
  11. Kind of a double edge sword for owners too. Yeah they get compensated for losing a FA if they offer it, but it also makes it hard to want to sign a QO FA if it going to cost them a bit of their future. These small/mid market teams rely alot on the draft to try and stay somewhat competitive
  12. Another scenario that could work out good IF they get Bregman is to keep Hoerner and use Shaw as a Zobrist type off the bench. They can ease him in early into the season with getting ABs with starts around the IF here and there, and can give Hoerner multiple days off early on as he works his way back from the injury. He has played some OF in College and Summer league
  13. They need a power bat on the bench, right now they have 4 guys with a combined total of 11 major league HRs last season. Why i also hope they do get Bregman, adding him would give the lineup more power and as much as I like Hoerner, Shaw would give them more punch at 2B over Hoerner. Wish he would just make up his mind already
  14. Why i mentioned a 3rd team, nico goes to say Seattle, and Seattle sends the Padres prospects
  15. Sometimes I think Hoyer does this because it gives their prospects added time in Iowa to get ready before bringing them up, and it easier to just release the dumpster dives or keep them in Iowa for depth because the cost is low.
  16. Im just thinking here but maybe Bregman just dont want to go back to Houston or play in Detroit and just waiting on the Cubs who just may be trying to get a trade done for Nico before finalizing a deal with Bregman. Maybe Tucker and Pressly has convinced him to join them in Chicago 🤷‍♂️ Moving Nico who is owed 11.5 this season and add someone like Michael King who owed 4 mil this season, can give the Cubs and extra 7.5 towards using on Bregman and or maybe towards another reliever. It possible they can be trying get a 3rd team involved on this
  17. I dont have a problem trading Nico and his remaining 2 yrs on his deal if they sign Bregman, but I dont want prospects for Nico either, I prefer if they do trade him, they get at least a middle of the rotation type SP for him or better if they have to add a prospect. The Cubs lineup could use a change and added punch outside of just adding Tucker and Shaw. Adding both Bregman and Tucker to the middle of the lineup would or should add alot of punch to the order and would also help guys like Swanson, Happ, and Suzuki get better pitches to hit with those 2 protecting them.
  18. We might still get them as JD fill ins 🤷‍♂️🙄
  19. Id like to see him take over full time once Boog contract is over, but I'm glad they finally settled into one person and it him to do it now.
  20. There's a couple Bregman thread listed, I just happen to look in the free agent transactions one here since he's a free agent and didn't see anything here and posted it for anyone else who like me tends to try and stay in the same thread/forum and post, over going to a bunch of different ones everytime I check in throughout the day. It really not that big a deal, just scroll pass it if you seen it on one of the other thread in another forum. It just one square box in here out of hundreds
  21. Who says i don't enjoy it here ? I looked at the other forum and topic and haven't seen anything, where is this being discussed at ? You do see certain topics being discussed in multiple places at different times, I bet you'll find a conversation involving Bregman in more then 1 or 2 threads.
  22. Gotta think a Bregman decision will be coming before the weekend
  23. Problem is, there are many different threads and forums on Cubs discussions, im just not one that going to read through all of them to see if someone posted something i just read about on X. Cubs discussions, Cubs transactions, Cubs news, Cubs this, Cubs that and you'll find basically the same conversations in all of them. I try to stay in the same forum/thread and if you seen or discussed it elsewhere then bypass it, if not and it the first you seen if it then great now you know.
  24. Not sure if this was posted.. “Sources have confirmed that the Cubs have offered Alex Bregman a four-year contract, with opt-outs, worth north of $100 million,” Jacob Zanolla of Cubs Insider reported. The news of the offer came shortly after Astros general manager Dana Brown shared some harsh comments about the likelihood of Bregman returning to the team as his free agency wears on. "During his address at the team's annual media luncheon, Dana Brown twice spoke about Alex Bregman in the past tense, saying once that the team ‘lost Bregman,'" according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome.
