  1. Or, it could just be the Astros are waiting on Bregman decision, isn't that the reason they're trying to clear money?
  2. Wake me when a deal is made, mlb is the worse when it comes to offseason FA signings and trades because of the million and one rumors and speculations before anything is actually official.
  3. Cubs checking in on Scherzer, likely just to see if he's worth a 1 year deal 🤷‍♂️ https://x.com/ragazzoreport/status/1882804186716508388?t=N5cNUJoNNt3KlWPpE9eVmA&s=19
  4. Getting him or not waiving?
  5. I dont know, if Hoyer doesn't have any real moves to make to upgrade the roster before OD besides what he has added so far, I'll be surprise if this team wins 85 games. Bench has very little power and I'm not sure how much of an upgrade if much it is over last season bench. Tucker and Boyd are the biggest additions. Tucker is great but it kinda reminds me a bit of when they added Dawson in 1987 coming off a 70 win season and didn't really go get much else, and despite him having an MVP season, they only won 76 games. Shaw - Paredes Tucker - Bellinger Kelly - Gomes Workman - Mastrobuoni Berti - Wisdom Canario - Tauchman Boyd - Hendricks Hodge - Neris Rea - Smyly Morgan Theilbar
  6. Theyre good players but not great, and having them cemented for the next 2 years now, could hold back the younger OF prospects and also keep them from adding a stud in the OF via FA or trade next offseason. Only reason they were able to go after Tucker was because they traded Bellinger. Also, them being below market value hasn't really allowed Hoyer add a star player at other positions of substantial cost, it just helps keep them under the Threshold with the other low cost players they have.
  7. Giving Happ and Suzuki NTC could end up biting this team in the ass, only good thing is both Alcantara and Caissie are just 22 now.
  8. The top 5 available now is.. Yates, Robertson, Farmer, Estevez, Jansen Chafin and Raley could still be in the mix as cheaper options on 1 year deal.
  9. Is Jed saying the Cubs arent run like a great organization...lol https://x.com/BNightengale/status/1881012695752954026?t=NO031TCxLSAA6-jODBRWRw&s=19
  10. Dodgers will probably extend him for 10 years if he's that good
  11. Tanner Scott have to be the guy they wrap up for the closer spot.
  12. Here what I'd like to see Hoyer do before ST starts up. Sign Tanner Scott to close Add a veteran utility player with HR power Id like to see another SP added but I'm ok with seeing how Assad or one of their other prospect does and if needed, they can address another SP come the trade deadline.
  13. Maybe they'll be willing to trade one
  14. Like my discussions with Rcal, I really believe they were just hoping for Sasaki but are ok with going with the 5 they have and with the depth they have to start the season with. If they're in contention come July, then they can pursue a SP and will likely have more then enough money under the Threshold to acquire a good one that a money dump for a team and not have to give up top prospects or multiple of them to acquire.
  15. I get that and like I just mentioned above, if i see a topic being written of it, I obviously won't post it or just delete it if I did. Maybe we need to start closing some threads and limiting active topics. We have a trade topic and FA topic, but then someone will start a cubs trade for or Cubs signed thread and now there's different threads of it to be discussed at. This thread been most active that why I looked here to see if it was mentioned or if anything being discussed that interesting.
  16. That fine to say it somewhere else being discussed, but I'm sure there's others like me who not going to go through the different pages, then the different topics in each page, then read everything to see if it being discussed there. If I seen that there was a topic in regard to what I posted, then I wouldn’t post it or delete it, but yea, I'm not gonna look into all the different topics and threads to see if someone posted something already, and these news are usually minutes to maybe 30 minutes after it tweeted out, I know if of importance somebody will have mentioned it by then. There are a bunch of posters in here, just because a handful are discussing it at another thread doesn't mean everyone going to know to look there if they have something to say about, they're likely to look at the hot topic like here that been mostly used for discussions.
  17. No, im not going to go look into all the different threads and pages to see if someone posted something that I'm thinking about posting, like why would I look into Dodgers sign Sasaki to see if someone posted about the BlueJays trade and Padres being eliminated? There are too many threads that basically hold the same conversations but are titled differently in here, so I like to try to just stick to a minimal on that so I don't have to read 50 posts in each one to see everyone opinions.
  18. I call Bull crap on this one
  19. Padres are out on Sasaki... Dodgers or BlueJays and the Jay's just made a trade with the Guardians and recieved 2 mil in IFA money. Be kinda funny if the BlueJays get him
  20. Also with all the Bregman chatter and the QO attached to him, part of what theyll lose is IFA money if they were to sign him. Hopefully Hoyer has something good brewing that they could announce before or during the convention
  21. No IFA signing today for the cubs, don't they(cubs) usually sign their guys on day 1 ? Wonder if they're waiting to see where Sasaki goes and may have interest in any of the kids that team had handshake deals with
  22. Hoyer probably asked if he's willing to sign for 1 year with them if he doesn't get what he wants elsewhere 🙄🙄
