  1. Why would Oakland trade him now ? He's in Arb and under team control for 3 more years.
  2. Cubs declined Smyly option...
  3. Just pretty must cement what I figured would be their offseason plan, focusing on adding better bench players and some pitching. Depending on their record, the trade deadline could be pretty active for them if they plan on then to get guys like Caissie, Shaw, and Alcantara regular playing time. Theyre all just 22 YO, so at least they're still young
  4. Jason Heyward wins another WS ring 😅
  5. Agree, I hope we see more of 2023 Paredes offensively and not too much of 2022 and final 3-4 months of 2024.
  6. 11th out of 30, I'll have to look but his overall numbers the last 3 seasons aren't that great, so just wondering how unattractive 3Bmen has become lately. Is overall production there that low to where it's not a position of power or run producing anymore ?
  7. He had a down season overall, not just as a cub. He has had 3 complete seasons now with 380, 570, and 640 PA. Out of the 3 he has had one good season in 2023. Theyll probably keep him with hopes he can bounce back to more of 2023 form, but like I've been saying, IF adding offensive help is a priority for Hoyer this offseason he has two choices. He'll either have to make a trade or two moving a regular to make room, or those additions will have to come from upgrading the bench.
  8. Ok but you'd think if the Sporting News and Sports Illustrated are printing it then it might have some validation to it as a rumor, No ? 🤷‍♂️
  9. https://www.si.com/mlb/cubs/news/tomoyuki-sugano-predicted-to-sign-with-chicago-cubs-in-free-agency https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/chicago-cubs/news/cubs-predicted-land-another-japanese-star-join-shota-imanaga-rotation/e429cfbb79d959e9d24c2043
  10. Alot obviously depends on Bellinger return or not, but if he stays, Hoyer will likely put his main focus more on upgrading the pitching and bench . They are rumored to be heavy favors on landing Japanese pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano. I can see Hoyer staying with Amaya and Bethencourt as their Catchers as both are cost controlled which will give him more flexibility to add elsewhere. I personally hope he moves Paredes and upgrade 3B and see if they can get a ready or close to ready pitching prospect for Amaya and upgrade at starting Catcher.
  11. Hoyer definitely won't be looking to trade Swanson , now next offseason with possibly a new POBO and GM, it a possibility. I think Swanson will have a bounce back season though, not spectacular but better then this one, especially with HRs and OBP
  12. Gonna need a new 3td base coach, Willie Harris got let go today
  13. Home, school, YouTube, social media Kids today are exposed to alot more these days then back in the day
  14. I'm still stuck on the Cubs had both Castellanos and Schwarber 🤦‍♂️
  15. Came close with another 9th inning comeback
  16. Yep that the difference with making the playoffs, just didn't expect them to advance
  17. I hope so too but we all know it going to depend on whether or not Rickett willing to go over the Threshold in offseason or they make trades, especially if Bellinger returns.
  18. I said either or, and the or wasn't even the prospects, they were 3rd on the list..lol Add a multi year bat or get a filler until they're ready
  19. Wow, who would of thought the Tigers and Royals would not only make the playoffs but knock off the Astros and Orioles to move on to the NLDS. 3 AL Central teams in final four for the American League
  20. Yep, they need to upgrade from Taillon with a top 3 guy in the rotation, push Taillon to 4th and then have a ST battle with the healthy young arms for 5. I'm gonna guess that they will stick with Hodge as the closer, would like to see them add a LH late innings guy . All in all I really dont see too much going on this offseason for the Cubs and Hoyer, maybe they add an offensive catcher, and a LH power bat for the bench/DH. Bellinger opting out will determine if they go out and get a multi year everyday bat or a place holder until they feel Caissie or Alcantara ready to go.
  21. Good interview with Hendricks, I wonder of he'll consider coaching and or managing
  22. So far so good, he looks good today he can also be used as trade bait
  23. Busch, Hoerner, Swanson, Paredes, Happ, PCA, Bellinger, Suzuki They can trade Amaya and look for an upgrade for starting Catcher. Only other spots to add offensive upgrades would be with the bench if there are no other trades made with the regulars. Why I'm thinking that Hoyer should look to add a power hitting decent LH bat that can be used to DH against some RHers. But in all reality we are likely to see the same current lineup outside of maybe Amaya, with or without Bellinger, unless trades are made which is unlikely to happen. We're just going to have to hope that Hoyer puts alot of effort in upgrading the bullpen and it depth and making sure it solid , and having one of the top starting rotation with solid depth.
  24. I said watch him return everyone, but add a guy who can DH and a catcher. It can be a LH bat who they can use as a DH and off the bench. I'm not saying this is 100% what I want or really feel Hoyer will do, just seems like something he would do.
