  1. I think so too. The good thing is we'll know for sure in a month. Here's the schedule through the end of June: 3 @ St. Louis 3 @ Pittsburgh 3 vs. Cincy 3 vs. San Diego 4 @ San Fran 3 @ San Diego 3 vs. St. Louis 4 @ Mets 3 vs. Miami 2 vs Cleveland 4 @ Dodgers 3 @ Brewers If they're within a few games of first by the end of that they're actually good. If they're not good, then this stretch will for sure bury them.
  2. This is a little harder to do back-of-napkin, but I also think his groundball rate is north of 60% after today
  3. Kohl Stewart officially has my attention
  4. i had not realized Odubel Herrera was back in the majors, yuck Domingo German's return unfortunately kind of flew under the radar too.
  5. I think with Scherzer you're not stringing anything together, you just shrug your shoulders and hope you luck into a timely dong or two. That's at least why I would consider Bote over Duffy.
  6. I saw one of the BN people grab a quote (I think from Dorey?) that they've slow-played everyone who got COVID during the last year, even if timing-wide it didn't directly affect their intake. I think it was something to do with the heart/cardio complications some people get on the side. So go guys like Franklin who are just a few weeks behind and we never heard about an injury, that's a possibility. I'm most curious about Brendon Little, since he was ramped up and letting it rip in ST but I never saw anything about an injury.
  7. Reinforcements are coming
  8. Yeah, Tepera stepping up as the RH setup man really locked things into place. If Wick's not dead or Thompson/Nance are real this could be a lockdown group before long.
  9. Eric Longenhagen likes Nance
  10. HOLY HORSEFEATHERS NICO
  11. Yeah, as bad as our rotation has been I'd still prefer all 5 of our guys to Jon going forward Really? For $2.5m more than we paid Trevor Williams we could have gotten Lester who couldn’t pitch much worse than what Williams has given us. Williams has decent peripherals and better actual stuff. Plus minor league options if we want to shoot him down to Iowa to get straightened out. Lester as a franchise hero would have had to get run out there every 5 days pretty much regardless. That's why I really didn't want him back. Tepera has looked real good for the last 2-3 weeks
  12. Yeah, of a ton of things to be upset about with the Cubs management, not resigning Lester seemed pretty logical. Yeah, as bad as our rotation has been I'd still prefer all 5 of our guys to Jon going forward
  13. I don't like the logo on the hats but those jerseys are sick as hell
  14. It's not just Myrtle Beach that's been a total mess with the strikeouts
  15. Good day in South Bend on the hitting side. Roederer got on base 4 times and Nelson Velazquez had a dong. Carraway K'd the side but also had 9 straight balls in the middle of his outing at one point.
  16. Kyle knocked a run off his ERA and FIP today. And honestly he's missing a few groundballs but otherwise his peripherals are just about where you expect them to be.
  17. I'm guessing it was just a matter of him being the freshest arm available with how shredded the pen is after yesterday. Although he has incredible numbers at Iowa (only 6 innings) so maybe he has been showing something?
