  1. It's a minor quibble, but would have liked Kyle to just stand there with the bat on his shoulder rather than swing at the first pitch.
  2. I prefer the new rule. I don't like how the 15+ inning marathon game is dead, but I always kind of hated innings 11-14 anyway. In the 10th it was always fun and exciting, but then each inning became more and more of a slog until things started getting weird. And the slog part has only gotten worse as baseball's balance of power has shifted towards relievers and strikeouts.
  3. Pop up between 2B and CF, Nico and Happ collided and Happ got the worse of it
  4. Happ basically got kneed in the chest. I'm sure it hurts like horsefeathers, but thankfully I'd imagine he's not injured long term
  5. That Barnhart ball is only a hit 7% of the time. What a bandbox today
  6. It really depends on how heavily you believe in FIP and/or xFIP. Williams has actually been really solid from a peripherals perspective: solid K rate, good walk rate, good groundball rate. HOWEVER, he's given up a ton of hard contact, he's fifth worst in exit velo allowed going into today. How much of that is luck? I used to think almost all of it, but now that we have access to exit velocities it's harder to be adamant about that.
  7. People won’t want to hear it, but Sogard has been way more useful than Bote.
  8. Nico is Nico-ing again already As fun as it is on its own merits, it also probably means that Sogard's only got a few days left on the roster (someone has to go for Joc), so that's a bonus
  9. Mahle's velo was way down that inning, and it's not cold in Cincy today. I'd be very worried if I was a Reds fan
  10. Certainly not a good start from Davies, but much improved from earlier in the year. Actually missed a few bats, and the walks we're more inning management than lack of control. Brothers looks damn good.
  11. That was a phenomenal AB from Hoerner
  12. Low leverage obviously, but my goodness the pen did a good job tonight. 10Ks, no walks, and half the (few) balls in play were on the ground.
  13. What I kind of wonder about is whether the best way to read "the chart" is based on the slot itself, or the industry consensus on the player. All of the outlets have Jenkins 25-30. So do you grade the trade based on moving up to 39, or treat it like moving up to ~30? Probably more the former than the latter, but by how much?
  14. Carraway being at SB is kind of disappointing. It's probably not fair, but kind of like Strumpf I'd seen him penciled into AA, so now that he's at the (still very much appropriate) High A it's a bit of a bummer.
  15. Football Outsiders:
  16. LOL @ Fields and his family clearly having just gotten the call
  17. Yeah, I think we're pretty much at the point where you have to make the move. We're no longer in multiple future 1sts territory I believe.
  18. Alzolay doing his thing against a legit lineup like the Braves is really encouraging. As good as his first three starts were, they were all against the Brewers (and twice without Yelich)
  19. I would fully expect them to trade Kimbrel if they keep sucking. That extra year adds value, and they won't need him next year since they'll probably suck again, so they might as well try to find some rando to try and catch lightning in a bottle then trade for more than he's worth because he's racked up some saves Totally agree. I think if things stay on their current trajectory he's the most likely guy to be traded after KB.
