  1. Cubs won their third in a row last night on the back of a stellar start from Trevor Williams. When asked after the game what changed going from the Pirates to the Cubs he offered up one difference Tonight is Adbert Alzolay's first start of the year. He was incredible late last year, so here's hoping it carries over. If he stays that good we might start referring to his starts as AlzoDAY Taking the mound for the Brewers is Freddy Peralta. He's been kind of crappy as a starter in his career but great in middle relief. Because of that he's known as "Middle Relief Freddy," or MR F for short Let's Go
  2. Assuming they don't score more runs, I wonder if we get Kimbrel or Workman in the 9th
  3. Really like the steal attempt there. You are not threading a bunch of hits together off of Williams
  4. Williams had some nagging injuries in the spring and hasn't pitched yet this year, so here's to continued rust
  5. Adam sucked to start last season too. I wonder if he needs that mid-season 95+ MPH velocity to be the monster he was late last year
  6. Wow that Javy ball was smoked. 104 MPH to the opposite field
  7. The Brewers are very much a run prevention team, but still Trevor Williams looks great (and so does Willson's glove)
  8. If I would have known Dempster was on this broadcast I would not have burned the "Forced Laughing" gif prior to the game
  9. Already dreading him being one of like 4 aces on the Dodgers in 2024
  10. I think it's partly that Tyler Anderson from game 2 has a (modest) reverse split and mostly that Ross is trying to do that thing where he gets all his bench guys into games early in the year.
  11. The Cubs squeaked by the Pirates despite being at home and the Pirates missing their one good player for most of the series. No red flags there Tonight, rhe Cubs' other reclamation project takes the mound. Trevor's noticed a real difference since coming over from Pittsburgh The Brewers counter with Brett Anderson, who despite being incredibly mediocre continues to have a huge opinion of himself Let's Go
  12. HORSEFEATHERING AWESOME
  13. Really? If you look at the statistics they're almost identical in BA, OBP and SLG in fact, Schwarber' OPS is slightly higher. 117 wRC+ 12.9 fWAR (2525 PA)- Joc 113 wRC+ 9.6 fWAR (2108 PA)- Kyle Joc is probably slightly better overall, makes a little more contact, and plays better defense. Either way, he is definitely not “a worse version” of Schwarber. Yeah, I actually tend to think of Joc's deal as being *slightly* better than Schwarber at most things. Schwarber's dongs are going to be more majestic, and he has (with much more playing time) been less useless against lefties, but Joc's gonna win nearly every other comparison.
  14. Rex Brothers after the game
  15. BEAUTIFUL horsefeathering defense in that AB (Willson stole two strikes as well)
  16. It's early, but it appears that Willson's framing improvements have carried over from last year
