  1. The Cubs squeaked by the Pirates despite being at home and the Pirates missing their one good player for most of the series. No red flags there Tonight, rhe Cubs' other reclamation project takes the mound. Trevor's noticed a real difference since coming over from Pittsburgh The Brewers counter with Brett Anderson, who despite being incredibly mediocre continues to have a huge opinion of himself Let's Go
  2. HORSEFEATHERING AWESOME
  3. Really? If you look at the statistics they're almost identical in BA, OBP and SLG in fact, Schwarber' OPS is slightly higher. 117 wRC+ 12.9 fWAR (2525 PA)- Joc 113 wRC+ 9.6 fWAR (2108 PA)- Kyle Joc is probably slightly better overall, makes a little more contact, and plays better defense. Either way, he is definitely not “a worse version” of Schwarber. Yeah, I actually tend to think of Joc's deal as being *slightly* better than Schwarber at most things. Schwarber's dongs are going to be more majestic, and he has (with much more playing time) been less useless against lefties, but Joc's gonna win nearly every other comparison.
  4. Rex Brothers after the game
  5. BEAUTIFUL horsefeathering defense in that AB (Willson stole two strikes as well)
  6. It's early, but it appears that Willson's framing improvements have carried over from last year
  7. Darvish gave up a run in his first inning of the year, so Davies > Darvish confirmed
  8. None of us like what we saw in game 1: While game 2 was exciting: Anything is possible for game 3, even: Let's Go
  9. That reminded me of that crazy bad Billy Hamilton swing several years ago
  10. Ke'Bryan Hayes left the game. This team is awful as it is and he's their only good player. Absolutely cannot lose this one now
  11. Jake sitting ~92.5 the first outing of the year is extremely horsefeathering encouraging
  12. There's no list, so I guess this is just a free for all? No rules, no boundaries, "Go ahead, touch the cornballer?"
  13. Seriously. Stone seems way better too. Not hard to imagine working with a better partner helps there too.
  14. https://twitter.com/jareddiamond/status/1378057821003071488?s=19 MLB did something....good?!
  15. I'm all in on Tommy Hottovy as some Dr. Erskine type scientist who is able to wring everything out of our pitching staff. I'm taking the over on expectations for basically everyone on the pitching side I'm softer on the hitting. I don't think they're going to crater, but there's going to be a lot of 40th percentile type performances One of the walk year guys is going to go OFF. Like MVP type. Let's say Joc The farm takes a stratospheric jump up the rankings. At least one outlet has them Top 5 at seasons end Jed talks a big game about selling unless the team is great, but we hit the deadline at like an 86 win pace and he only gets rid of like one hitter and Andrew Chafin
  16. The over/under on Wolters starts is like 5? I would have preferred Lucroy but it's hard to care.
  17. FWIW Ken Rosenthal still thinks a deal gets done
  18. Like others have said $70M is probably about right. And honestly guaranteeing that a year out it might be a little generous, purely by the math. Rizzo is *the* guy on this team, and so he clearly deserves more than what his FG page dictates. But starting a negotiation at $70M knowing it'll end up at $80-something feels like the right balance of doing right by your guys without getting reckless IMO.
  19. With Romine as the backup catcher, that bench is pretty pathetic offensively too. Yeah, I actually do have faith in Hottovy and do see what they're aiming for with each of the guys they brought in. Like Luke said I wish we still had Darvish to anchor things, but I actually like what they're doing, even if it is pretty risky. The bench though, yikes. Within a month I imagine we'll see Maybin come up for the 9th reliever. That will help. Within two months Nico will come up for Sogard or Duffy, that'll help more. But even then it'll be....fine, maybe? Gone are the days where we always had a Happ, Soler, or Baez on the bench.
  20. This team is placing a lot of faith in Tommy Hottovy. A lot.
