  1. Darvish gave up a run in his first inning of the year, so Davies > Darvish confirmed
  2. None of us like what we saw in game 1: While game 2 was exciting: Anything is possible for game 3, even: Let's Go
  3. That reminded me of that crazy bad Billy Hamilton swing several years ago
  4. Ke'Bryan Hayes left the game. This team is awful as it is and he's their only good player. Absolutely cannot lose this one now
  5. Jake sitting ~92.5 the first outing of the year is extremely horsefeathering encouraging
  6. There's no list, so I guess this is just a free for all? No rules, no boundaries, "Go ahead, touch the cornballer?"
  7. Seriously. Stone seems way better too. Not hard to imagine working with a better partner helps there too.
  8. https://twitter.com/jareddiamond/status/1378057821003071488?s=19 MLB did something....good?!
  9. I'm all in on Tommy Hottovy as some Dr. Erskine type scientist who is able to wring everything out of our pitching staff. I'm taking the over on expectations for basically everyone on the pitching side I'm softer on the hitting. I don't think they're going to crater, but there's going to be a lot of 40th percentile type performances One of the walk year guys is going to go OFF. Like MVP type. Let's say Joc The farm takes a stratospheric jump up the rankings. At least one outlet has them Top 5 at seasons end Jed talks a big game about selling unless the team is great, but we hit the deadline at like an 86 win pace and he only gets rid of like one hitter and Andrew Chafin
  10. The over/under on Wolters starts is like 5? I would have preferred Lucroy but it's hard to care.
  11. FWIW Ken Rosenthal still thinks a deal gets done
  12. Like others have said $70M is probably about right. And honestly guaranteeing that a year out it might be a little generous, purely by the math. Rizzo is *the* guy on this team, and so he clearly deserves more than what his FG page dictates. But starting a negotiation at $70M knowing it'll end up at $80-something feels like the right balance of doing right by your guys without getting reckless IMO.
  13. With Romine as the backup catcher, that bench is pretty pathetic offensively too. Yeah, I actually do have faith in Hottovy and do see what they're aiming for with each of the guys they brought in. Like Luke said I wish we still had Darvish to anchor things, but I actually like what they're doing, even if it is pretty risky. The bench though, yikes. Within a month I imagine we'll see Maybin come up for the 9th reliever. That will help. Within two months Nico will come up for Sogard or Duffy, that'll help more. But even then it'll be....fine, maybe? Gone are the days where we always had a Happ, Soler, or Baez on the bench.
  14. This team is placing a lot of faith in Tommy Hottovy. A lot.
  15. James Norwood make sure you have a bag packed
  16. I definitely prefer Duffy making the team above Vargas
  17. Agreed, and here's the quote from Ross:
  18. Yeah, I think this is it. Especially with Wick being not *that* far behind. You want a guy with options, which means Megill, Wieck, or Brothers. You probably want a second lefty, which means Wieck or Brothers. And Wieck's been a bit bumpy in camp (likely due to the late start). If Brothers is good, that's awesome. If he's not he'll be gone by Tax Day.
  19. That's great news, and alleviates my main hurdle on the Nico decision. 3-4 games a week plus some intra-squad stuff likely isn't *that* far off from a month in AAA.
  20. I'd be pretty okay with this if Iowa was starting on time. But I don't like doing this with him just going to the alternate site, even if it's not going to be the same thing as last year (i.e. there will be *some* games). Keep in mind, a majority seemed to want this coming into ST. I'd thats the case 30 something ST at bats shouldn't change your mind.
  21. I wonder if this plus the Alzolay option news plus Maples' outing tonight mean the pen is sorted? Kimbrel Workman Chafin Tepera Winkler Adam Brothers Shelby Miller
  22. I think the thing that also hurts, is this is one fewer source of potential star power. The White Sox, currently on paper, have enough talent to maybe get past the Twins, but then inevitably get curb stomped by the Yankees. IMO that's because they lack stars. They have Giolito and Grandma, and then ymmv on Lynn and Moncada. To join that top echelon of teams, they need another 2-3 stars, and Eloy was clearly one of the prime opportunities to get one.
