  1. This is the BABIP-iest inning I've ever seen. Not a single ball over 90MPH and 4 runs
  2. Loving the groundballs but it's kind of crazy how little swing and miss he's gotten in the early going.
  3. Beth Mowins. And I think he's done some Saturdays, but I don't think he's done a single Sunday yet.
  4. The average ball put in play off of Williams has been hit 92.6 MPH. For reference, that's the same exit velocity as Freddie Freeman and Rhys Hoskins have so far this season. That's bad. Obviously. Honestly though, there is a lot of encouraging stuff from him too. He's throwing more strikes than ever. He's throwing more first strikes than ever. He's getting more swing and miss than ever. He's got the second best groundball rate of his career. Pre Statcast, I'd be pretty adamant that this is a league average starter who got BABIP'd for a month.
  5. Turns out tonight Gallardo was
  6. I do think the Dodgers will ultimately win 100+, but them aside it's kind of remarkable how quickly we exited the super-team era.
  7. I was going to complain about no Kimbrel, but I didn't realize how much he's worked lately. Last Thursday, then Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  8. Holy Christ Joc. Two pitches in a row
  9. I kind of assumed Ryan was gonna get sent out this weekend. I figured just to Iowa rather than DFA'd, but having 4 lefties in the pen really only made sense for the Dodgers series.
  10. Trevor Cahill is exactly the type of guy Happ feasts on so I'm guessing he's still fairly banged up. I wish they'd just IL him.
  11. Not gonna lie I still get warm and fuzzies every time I see Mark Prior
  12. To ensure the run didn’t count on the dp. you gotta scream that out when you’re inches from the base though Wait, what did I miss? How does not tagging first keep a run from scoring? If you get both outs of the DP on forces, the run doesn't score no matter what. If you get a force at 1B and a tag at 2B, then it depends on when the runner crosses home plate.
  13. Rodríguez walks two guys, then gives up a home run with two outs to lose the no-hitter and blow the lead. In better reliever news
  14. Wow, Adbert just ate Seager alive in that AB
  15. Cam Sanders line is especially fun after seeing AZ Phil say he was touching 96 in ST
  16. Machado's the obvious comp. While it hasn't worked out for Baltimore, that was a strong return (on paper) at the time. They got the #4 (#90 in the top 100), #9, #19, and #21 prospects from what was the 10th best farm in baseball coming into the season. The lesson IMO is "don't assume you can make a good trade with the Dodgers (or Rays)" more than anything.
  17. Myrtle Beach is getting mowed down, but it's by Cole Wilcox so not exactly surprising
  18. "Filling up the boxscore" is a Jim Deshaies line, right? Or was it Bob Brenly? Regardless, Strumpf and Roederer are really filling up the box score for South Bend tonight. Two hits (including a double) and a walk for Strumpf, and one hit, a walk, and a steal for Cole.
