  1. Still haven't seen a corresponding move. I'm kind of hoping it's Thompson. I'd love to have Abbott take Keegan's role in the pen, and have Keegan get stretched out at Iowa to take Arrieta or Davies spot in the rotation.
  2. This is basically exactly what I feared if we had signed Lester. I thought Jake was gonna get enough groundballs to avoid this kind of fate, guess not.
  3. Oh man, some people are gonna HATE Cam
  4. That seems like real high spin
  5. I got my hopes up after seeing the Marlins ones. Oh well.
  6. Agreed. I think it was one of the Hawks Cup rallies that I'm still scarred over. I lived in walking difference to Soldier Field so wasn't using public transit or car, and getting out of the stadium vicinity was the worst stadium experience I've ever had. But all the other times I've been, including for Soccer games which aren't as packed as a Bears game and it just always seems to suck. Edit- and as much as getting on the redline after a Cubs game can also be soul-crushingly miserable, there's at least alternatives because you're in the middle of a neighborhood with Bars and restaurants. SF doesn't offer any alternative like that. Yeah, Soldier Field and the Museum Campus are a pain in the ass to get to even when there's not a Bears game. Driving sucks because it's downtown. But then it's like the one place downtown that's a public transit desert. Mile for mile it might be the worst place in the city to try and get to, even on non game days.
  7. Kaplan too. I don't specifically remember Brenly being bad with Aramis (which I'm 1000% sure is my ears not being tuned to those kind of dog whistles yet), but I remember Kaplan regularly saying things that were super yikes about Aramis and Starlin. When Aramis was dealing with some leg injuries, he'd jog to first on routine grounders. Brenly would invariably point it out and his commentary often involved the word "lazy" or other stereotypes. It was pointed out quite a few times that he didn't call out the white players in the same way if they didn't bust it down the line. For those questioning Aramis on why he calls for Brenly to be fired, it is not over this latest incident alone. It is the accumulation of comments over the years. Yeah. I was a teenager for most of Brenly's time here, so I'd hear things like that and think the 2007 version of "Ok Boomer" rather than getting the subtext. But I remember my oblivious ass knowing even back then that Kaplan was a big old racist.

  9. Interesting opportunity for Deppermann to get a start. Speaking of interesting opportunities to start, what's up with Robert Stock? He started last night and went 4 IP. Two of his three previous outings were 3 IP. I'm not sure what the endgame is, but it's really caught my eye.
  10. Waiting an extra couple days for Herz was worth it I feel like you've gotta move him up soon. He's overpowering guys right now.
  11. I think it's mostly the former. We did have several prospects like Justin Steele turn into spin rate monsters over the last year or so, and so we should all brace ourselves for one of them getting caught up by this. But I don't think any of the vet pitchers are guys we have to worry about except for maybe Kimbrel.
  12. Really like seeing Jensen bounce back after a disaster outing last time out. Same with Bain a few days ago.
  13. I'm so bad at gauging the severity of these things. I definitely thought Pham got the worse of that both in real time and on replay. Now he looks fine and Kim looks real messed up.
  14. MLB.com as a whole is messed up. I thought it was just my At Bat app but I can't even get onto the main site with my laptop
  15. Chris Morel in his last 10 games has 6 BBs and 7 Ks. Patience can be streaky too, but Ks and BBs are ultimately going to determine if he's a fun bench guy or a legit starter so great to see. I also noticed Andy Weber is no longer on the Tenn roster, I'm assuming he's on the IL?
  16. I wonder if we FINALLY drop down to 8 relievers at that point. Maples is literally pitching like once a week, it's clear 8 guys can cover.
  17. Oh horsefeathers yeah Strumpf to Tennessee too
  18. A couple of these had trickled through over the last 48 hours but I don't think we knew about Albertos?
  19. I should probably be less surprised than I am. He’s been solid at the AAA level for awhile (.808 OPS over 5 seasons) and was also solid in his only extended MLB stretch with the Cardinals in 2018 (.882 OPS over 58 PA). He got some buzz at the alternate site last year too. He's probably just a short side platoon corner bat, but this is where Max Muncys and Luke Voits come from so no reason not to give him a continued shot.
