  1. #26 on MLB Pipeline The results this year make it seem like he's over the control issues, and the stuff sounds like it was never in question.
  2. Logan O'Hoppe was the ideal but he just went to Anaheim like 10 minutes ago. So at this point probably pitching
  3. Brennen Davis and David Robertson are going to fuse into an Ohtani-like super player, but only after leaving the org
  4. Yes please get the Dodgers involved
  5. The baseball world as each additional detail comes out about the deal
  6. I've fallen madly in love with James Wood over the last month, but even still this still feels very light. I was expecting something like this with Corbin, with someone like Bell it feels kind of silly. Nats were clearly tasked with dumping Soto now so that it wasn't a PR hit for the new owners. Edit: Okay adding in Gore on top of this looks far more reasonable
  7. He makes a lot of sense. I don't personally like him because he's outrageously fragile, but him plus some arms in a Happ deal would be very much in the spirit of "threading the needle."
  8. Who wants to break it to them that Happ can't play CF? I also saw some Braves fans excited about his ability to backup 2B with Albies out. Didn't have the heart to tell them he's a pure LF now. Re: Matt Allan getting a specific mention and a package going to the Jays. If the org is really trying to beef up the high end pitching inventory, something like Tiedemann and Frasso from the Jays and Matt Allan from the Mets would do the trick. It wouldn't be my strategy (I *really* want an MLB-ready bat coming back if we lose Happ) but it'd work value-wise and be consistent with the org's actions the last few weeks.
  9. Jon's a tier below Passan and Rosenthal, but this seems notable. No hedging at all.
  10. You do kind of have to wonder if a Soto deal pushes Machado out the door this winter. That'd be a pretty interesting alternative to going 10 years on one of the FA shortstops
  11. Double Wicks and Moreno starts this week is fun!
  12. Tommy Pham to Boston, which does not seem like a great idea
  13. Probably the third most likely Willson team, and most likely to take him solo
  14. If we're doing tea leaves the Cards passing on Montas plus the Hader deal would make you wonder if the Cards are getting Soto
  15. The timeline is moving a mile a minute right now so I don't know where I saw it, but apparently Breslow was Wesnenski's pitching coach when he was still in the Yankees org. He's definitely got ideas in mind for him, and I'm very interested to see what they are. Moskos, not Breslow. Ah, that's right! Breslow came from the Sox. I get all these "remember some guys" type middle relievers who are now pitch design geniuses mixed up.

  17. ..why does this narrative continue to prevail? 4.28 ERA last 3 years, all 3 seasons are 4+ That's mostly garbage time innings. Cubs relievers are 2nd in WPA this year and were 4th through last year's deadline. 10th in 2020, and I'm not gonna spend the time slicing and dicing it but I bet it's top 5 after Kimbrel's horrific first couple weeks.
  18. And Alzolay assuming he’s still a thing. I think you go into next year with him slated as the long man and ask him to do the Keegan Thompson piggyback role from early in the year. But yeah Jed needs to add someone to the front half of the rotation, but that's really it? Let's just say Rodon because it's the funnest: Rodon Stroman Steele Thompson Hendricks Alzolay in the 'pen. Kilian and Wesnenski at Iowa. Wicks and Herz at Tenn. That's legitimately enviable SP depth, something the org hasn't had in a very long time. Even in '15/'16 Montgomery was the only depth the front end guys were just durable enough for it to not matter.
  19. Honestly this isn't really a minor trade. I need to dig in more on Wesnenski but he's a very legit prospect and almost immediate SP depth. I don't love losing Effross but selling high on relievers is usually smart business. This is interesting.
