    Surprised he's back out there. I'd guess for at least 20 teams his night is over right now.

    If you're the Padres you probably can't send Yu back out there. 40 pitches in an inning is usually a red line these days. So presuming we get 7 innings of the Padres' crappy bullpen right away in game 1....things look really good for winning the series.

    Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but this probably will end up belonging here

    This is going to be an interesting series. On paper it probably ought to be a bludgeoning by the Padres, but their roster is real thin. The bottom of their batting order is very light hitting, and their bullpen has been a huge mess. The offense has been great about grinding down starters and getting them out of the game early. I think of they can continue that this series there's a good chance to pull out a W or two.

    Really huge to start this rough 12 game stretch 2-1. The pitching matchups against the Padres are absolutely brutal, so getting spanked by the Dodgers would have been bad news.

    Weather looks totally clear from 5pm-ish on, so it's gonna be a long day but no reason they can't finish.

    It's still very early but Arenado is starting to look pretty cooked. In zone contact rate way down, exit velocity way down, groundball rate way up. Just 40 plate appearances so I'm not dancing on his grave yet but does not look great.

    Also took his second walk in as many games. And also I'm a bit slow on the uptick but I didn't realize he's still 18 for a couple weeks??

    The whole point of signing the best manager in the game was to make sure we have someone in the dugout constantly making good process-oriented decisions. He made a good one here unfortunately he got a bad dice roll.

    Just looked it up because I was curious and Hernandez is even more of a lefty masher than I realized. This is his line against lefties the last three years: .319/.351/.641

    Wonder how deep the Dodgers let Yamamoto go. He's clearly in control now but those were two very high stress innings early. If he only goes 5 I feel good about getting to the Dodgers' bullpen.

    Wicks' FB velo today is a smidge higher than his average from last year. Given that it's pretty cold today, it makes you feel better that his velo from Sunday (where he was up a full MPH) is real. Given everything else he does a full MPH is pretty transformational. Exciting stuff.

    I'll say this Dodgers lineup feels mortal versus LHP. Still very good, but not the unstoppable force like it is versus RHP.
