It may be a factor, it may not. I guess it would depend on how many trips they make. How long has it been since you were at the Southwest Florida International Airport? It's no longer the podunk airport it used to be. Back in 2006 a brand new state of the art 28 gate terminal was opened while the old one was torn down. Obviously not nearly the size of a major city airport like Phoenix but much more convenient and very easy to get in and out of.

It would be much easier and cost effective to travel to the Dominican and Puerto Rico from SWFL than it would Phoenix.

If the Cubs are really planning on spending more money on scouting in the caribbean (DR, PR, Cuba at some point) wouldn't it make more sense to have your headquarters in Florida?

Where was this? Blue Jays park....can't remember which town....Dunedin? I think it is Dunedin, just north of Clearwater. I haven't been there but it sounds like the same situation the Red Sox were in here in Ft. Myers. City of Palms Park is in the middle of the city with not much parking and it's an older facility. They are getting new digs in South Ft. Myers similar to the setup the Twins have here at the Lee County Sports Complex. The Cubs are looking for 120-130 acres and a state of the art facility would be built. Depending on the property they buy it should be close to the inter-state and no problems with parking.

Update: http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/oct/25/chicago-cubs-execs-visit-collier-scout-spring-trai/ This would be a great area for the Cubs to move. Before the housing crash this was one of the fastest growing areas in the country. They are making many improvements to Interstate 75 between Ft. Myers and Naples (about 40 miles). There are plenty of hotels, restaurants and the beaches.

PLUG:I have been a part of this league since it's inception four years ago and it is a great league and a great group of guys. This past season was probably our best yet (and not just because I FINALLY won 8-[ ). If you're a big fantasy baseball buff and like to be active all year round with trades (players & picks), minor league players and fantasy strategy, I highly recommend you joining. Serious inquiries only since this is a year round commitment. Be expected to reply to e-mails, PMs, league polls and trade requests during the offseason.

All those teams had a chance to sign him in the offseason and wanted nothing to do with the guy. Only the Lions can manage to lose to themselves. St Louis appears capable. St. Louis has been SO much worse during their 14 game losing streak than Detroit ever was during their 19 game losing streak. -
