  1. I had to change the channel... we made a baby that night and it didn't make it... glad the wife is sleeping
  2. Nothing good happened with Iowa today. Happ struck out twice.
  3. Me too but they are really piling up with minimal open space for them to play. They're gonna have to move some of them but I think the mythical 5-1 deal is very unlikely to ever happen with this FO. I think it'll be more like 2-1 deals for reclamation projects or slightly faded prospects.
  4. That was no 'bone bruise', right?
  5. It certainly has been a good start for the top Cubs minor league pitchers. Butler (even thought he won't count towards the system's ranking is still important), Clifton, De La Cruz, Hatch and Cease combined for 24.2 IP, 17 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 11 BB, 25 K for a 1.09 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. Lesser prospects Zastryzny, P. Johnson, Tseng, Alzolay, T. Miller and Rondon threw 24.1 IP, 15 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 6 BB, 32 K for a 1.85 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP. Add in bats like Jimenez, Happ, Candelario, Caratini with some emerging bats like EJM, Parades, etc., Albertos once short season gets started and the 27th and 30th draft picks and this system could be pretty solid by year's end. It will be fun to track for sure. I can't imagine it's a popular thought around here but I kind of also like Morrison as well. He doesn't have the stuff or pedigree to stir prospect love but he does maintain excellent KBB, GB, and suppresses HR. He seems to miss a lot of barrels and could possibly thrive with our defense IMO. I'm not saying he will be as successful as Hendricks but I think there's a MLB pitcher there. Anyway, he also had a good start for the Smokies as well. I personally really like the pitching crop we have.
  6. #Cubs Maddon: "His delivery, location and pitch-ability was outstanding. I'd much rather see what we saw today than 94, 95 all over the map"
  7. Angels erase a 7 run 9th inning deficit and walkoff on the M's
  8. How do you check these? You have to go to mlb.com and click on Gameday for the game. Once there, if you click on the "Feed" tab, you can get statcast data on exit velocities. Thanks. I figured it would be in GameDay when you click the batted ball result... but nope. Anyways thanks again.
  9. Do you see the possibility that Zobrist doesn't finish his contract with the Cubs? Not really. His skill set ages well, but he'll probably be fairly bad by year 4. Until then, injuries can still get Happ plenty of AB's. The problem is his defense. His bat will be good; I have no doubt. But his range and arm... he is a liability in RF and just passable at 2B. How that ages is what concerns me. Then you have Happ and Young knocking on the door, with Eloy just a bit behind. If Zobrist only had 2 years left it wouldn't matter much but that 4th year of the contract I think he should/will primarily warm the bench... I'm with you in that we don't need to trade for that TORP that everybody has been dreaming on. This team is set up for GB/weak contact specialists to thrive, and we have had profound success with reclamation projects. So I am comfortable letting the rotation sort itself out. Most teams would dream to have Lester and Kyle as the 1-2, so the foundation is set, and we can stand to lose Jake. We have several guys that fit the Hendricks mold and I think at least 1 of those guys establishes himself as a MORP. Then you have Butler and Monty under control for a half decade. And I'm sure they'll keep grabbing a vet or two on 1 year deals. The pitching is going to be great. The puzzle is the position player side. We won't have room for everybody.
  10. What is that big lumbering oaf of a LF doing calling off the SS... Sorry, I just read Schwarber's fg profile wherein Sporer basically eviscerates him
