  1. Wow I proposed a Jake/Verlander centered swap a few months ago on another board. Wonder if that's real or not.
  2. Talking about a guy who is a career 285 BA 350 OBP against both lefties and righties and can play all over the OF if needed. 106 career wRC+ and Dex is 110 Seems like a totally solid signing to me.
  3. So, bye Dex [emoji24] I know Jay isn't exciting but career 285 BA and 350 OBP against both righties and lefties is not too shabby at all.
  4. Sorry man, but when it's week 12 or whatever, and they only have 2 wins, I really feel no guilt hoping they don't win. This season has been a nightmare with injuries and I think there's enough talent on the team that they can bounce back and be a playoff contender next year if they nail this draft. I think they have a better chance to do that with the #2 pick. Don't think this makes me less of a fan. Sorry, that wasn't meant for you. I was saying that # of drops is disgusting. But yeah like others have said, I'll actively root for a win while they are actually playing. But I won't be heartbroken if they lose. Yesterday I just laughed at the Bellamy drop. I figured they'd still win though as that was 1st down and the Titans really showed no interest in covering anyone for the last quarter. Cool, thanks for clearing that up. I thought it might have been in response to the drops but wasn't sure.
  5. I've got my wife to about 70% accepting that as our baby on the way's middle name. She is from PA and grew up a Phillies fan but she is pretty much converted.
  6. I don't give a crap how hyperbolic and homerish this is but Kris Bryant is going to demolish those offensive numbers. This is the year he becomes a 300/40 guy. Take it to the bank.
  7. I found what I was looking for here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/232132679635?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Damn, that would be a good gift for my dad; I remember as a kid always checking out the ones he had for the Bulls and Bears championship seasons that he had hanging in his office. Though that one just seems too....blue? The Bears and Bulls ones were basically just wood and gold, with the colors just showing up in the logo and what the players were wearing. http://auction.steinersports.com/ItemImages/000006/CATAALE000006_lg.jpeg http://d2ydh70d4b5xgv.cloudfront.net/images/9/3/chicago-bulls-1990-1991-nba-champions-team-photo-plaque-13x16-framed-world-71a9db20f4f46d54a76d4800381f91fb.jpg They sure separated the F out of Ditka and Buddy lol
  8. Wow. Just disgusting. I can't bring myself to feel relief with the Bears losing. But I was pretty indifferent. I would have been happy with the win, just because the game was so dumb. Titans could do whatever they wanted offensively and still almost blew the game to Matt horsefeathering Barkley. Of course, SF and Jacksonville may not win another game either. And the Bears play SF coming up.
  9. 11 drops, most PFF has ever recorded (started in 06) I would have been flatly irritated if we would have won this game. The Bellamy drop was a huge relief. And hilarious!
  10. Those pictures are priceless!
  11. I think we've finally had enough injuries so that we can lose to SF and get the 2nd pick. It seems like the smart thing to do is to draft Allen or Garrett but with Cutler leaving and all the turbulence his Bears tenure has brought, I feel like the team would prefer to draft a QB and sell the fan base that they finally got a franchise guy to develop. That also buys Pace more time IMO, drafting a QB rather than a defensive stud. The fans are basically at their wits end with the people in charge. They are among the worst owners in major sports. They're so antiquated; it's a damn embarrassment that they need to hire consultants to make their coaching hires. It's like my dad says, I just won't believe in the team fully until the family gets the F out of Dodge.
  12. OK maybe Contreras is the new Buster. Holy cow!
  13. Before the season, he'd have been like the 25th player I would guess would be carried off the field after a WS win
  14. I met a Yankees fan tonight who was effusive in his praise for our team and he cried when we got the final out. He is telling everybody the Cubs are the next great dynasty and remind him of the late 90's Yankees.
  15. By far the coolest president in sports
  16. Clayton Bigsby with red face
  17. thats actually pretty cool Yeah, I went ahead and made it my desktop. Is the dude to the left of the guy sticking out his tongue Tom Hanks or am I imagining things? It is. He's a fan.
  18. This is excellent. You should post this in the offseason moves thread. Priority number one: Get [expletive] Hendricks. Didnt they just draft a [expletive] of pitchers? They do that every year
  19. Hendricks should get a 15 year contract and be a Cub for life. They should retire his jersey as an active player. Get Hendricks.
  20. Even though we will probably be rather quiet in FA it is pretty sweet knowing that we are the marquee destination and players will be praying to go to us
  21. Jeff Samardzija Mark Appel Randall Delgado Andrew Cashner Dan Vogelbach Brian Roberts Gleyber Torres Luis Valbuena Fergie Jenkins Michael Conforto Jon Gray Scott horsefeathering Feldman! Ryan Dempster (though I get it with Delgado)
  22. Hats off to Dan Vogelbach for putting together a great season and landing us Michael horsefeathering Montgomery! He's like Rich Hill with velocity and he's going to be a lot of fun to watch the next few years. I heard a Cubs fan bitching that we traded away the next David Ortiz for a bust. That just cracks me the horsefeathers up. He was serious. I can't believe that all of these prospects we followed for 4-5 years - and were derided for being excited about - just ended the longest drought in major sports history, in basically their 2nd year together. I mean that's unreal. That's the makings of a [expletive] dynasty. The team is too deep to not be in the dance every year for the next decade.
  23. Nice to have a PG who can move the ball and spread it around
