Jay was rusty but he eventually settled in. I think he played through some pain because he was missing some throws early on by miles. And yeah, Alshon blew some big plays. Hats off to Howard. He looked like a master with his patience and explosion tonight. He digs in and keeps churning upon contact. I love it. The defense though... [expletive], I can't wait for a healthy Goldman to add to that front. McPhee and Floyd are gonna flush the pocket consistently and our DL should eat up the QB.

If we could bring that April plate discipline back we would crush these guys still. But we just don't know which pitches to swing at anymore. It's hard to be optimistic when you're looking at that offensive approach. The pitching has to be practically perfect. That said, I expect our SP to give us great outings and it's horsefeathering time for our hitters to reciprocate. I would like to see less of a 'pull everything in the air' approach and more of a 'go with the pitch and just focus on hard contact' . It's hard to beat the 'BABIP Gods' when you play right into the opponents plans.

I don't understand our approach tonight at all. We watched so many crushable pitches right down the heart of the plate and couldn't let a curve in the dirt go by. We need to completely flip the script on Kluber. The lefties better show they can identify and punish that inside 2-seam this time around. We still got this but we have a lot of work to do. Sucks that Wrigley won't witness a title clincher though.

I'd still think it would show up sometimes and that he wouldn't be sitting in the bottom 5 going oppo. At the risk of this spiraling quickly into an idiotic Bryant can't hit good pitching "debate"...he's going to win [expletive] MVP. What exactly are your complaints here? He cut his whiff rate upped his average while maintaining an elite walk rate due to the changes he made this past offseason. I didn't complain about him at all. horsefeathers are you talking about?

It didn't inexplicably vanish. He had it last year. Then the league adjusted to him and he had to make swing changes to survive. I'd still think it would show up sometimes and that he wouldn't be sitting in the bottom 5 going oppo.

The Indians offense has positive values for pitch types across the board. They hit sliders almost as well as us, they crush changes and curves. They don't have a clear weakness and they get great production with platoon guys (Naquin, Guyer). Our analytics team certainly has their work cut out for them. 138 steals is no joke. They love to run. That will be our biggest challenge. We can't let a bloop and an infield single turn into a cheap run in the WS. Their bullpen has been automatic. We all know that we need to bomb on their starters. If we beat the horsefeathers out of Bauer and Tomlin they have no chance. I think Lester will have a tough time matching zeroes with Kluber. This team doesn't just bluff - they run. If they take 20 foot leads, it doesn't matter how quick to the plate he is and how fast Ross pops. Now if they take a normal lead then, sure, we can mitigate that damage, but I think Cleveland is smarter than that. The last time we faced Kluber, we were overpowered and took some really bad swings. But granted, that was last year. A healthy Salazar, throwing 97 with a devastating change-up, could spell major trouble for our hitters but it doesn't seem like he'll be starting. Unless they're just biding their time in announcing it. This should be an amazing World Series. But let's break out the brooms!

I'll go on assuming he will be on the roster

It felt like you could count on two hands how many times we whiffed, and mostly they were from Kyle and Javy. We fouled off a ton of fastballs and just looked at the curves. It was an extremely disciplined and focused approach.

So on the team pic, I love seeing KB leaping in the back and glad he didn't pull a Kipnis. Russell, I assume is that tiny half-face in the back-left behind Arrieta. They say he's a shy dude so I guess that makes sense but it sucks that he's barely in the pic. And where is Joe?

Tough to find a weakness in Cleveland, besides their rotation, but getting Salazar back is huge. Hope he doesn't have the feel for his change-up. That team has positive values on offense against every pitch, particularly sliders, curves, and change-ups. They hit lefties and righties, play great defense, and were better than us on the bases this year. Obviously we need to get to their starters and avoid Miller. These teams are so damn good from top to bottom. But i have faith in our guys and our coaching staff and the analytics guys behind the scenes to get it done. I cannot wait to watch our guys lift that trophy!

Baez DGAF. He's always in his backyard just having fun. We need him to just be himself and keep loose. I love the interplay they have going on.

This was straight up Maddux stuff tonight. 10 pitches per inning, actual game time must-have been less than 2 hours. They got a couple balls out of the infield and maybe 1 caught a barrel. With all that pressure on Kyle he simply shrugged his shoulders and sent a very good offense packing. I really feel he would have completed the shutout and they were being way too aggressive and probably would have grounded into 2. But whatever. 27 batters faced. Insane.

We horsefeathering destroyed these guys. Faced the minimum. Top 5 postseason performance I've ever seen from any team. Cannot wait to crush Cleveland.

I hope it's a good nervous because we are winning tomorrow. The boys just sized CK up in G2, tomorrow they're gonna bombard him and we party. Simple as that.

By the time Hill's curve hit its apex it seemed that most of our guys had already shifted their weight and were not in a position to hit the ball with authority. I'm not sure how you work on these things but they need to 'stay back' on the ball or they will continue to make really weak contact and be out in front of soft stuff. His curve is something else, granted. Not too many hitters had an answer for it this year. But it was very similar to what we saw when Pomeranz shut us down earlier in the season. That loopy curve got in our heads and we simply couldn't react to fastballs.
