This is weird. Why would you.....on a team devoid of young talent....NOT want to bring back a young guy with the most talent on the roster? I understand if you don't want to pay him a ton of money, still wrong, but I could buy that more than what you say here. He barely fights for the ball is just flat out wrong. He won't reach his ceiling? You mean back-to-back 85 catch seasons, a 1400 yard season, a double digit TD season, a league leading 90 yards per game season isn't his ceiling? Well, that's more reason to sign him if you think a precision QB could make him even better. Oh and as for that "thread the needle" QB......you do know that Jeffery has (at times) been great with Cutler, Hoyer, Barkley, and McCown at QB, none of which apply. Yeah, I don't think he's a guy I want to give 15m to. Getting a PED suspension while on a franchise tag and the nagging injuries just makes me pause and question his reliability. But I also don't think he plays to his best (his ceiling; he reached it already IMO, now it's about getting back to it) without Cutler, or a guy who is not afraid to try and squeeze a pass in a tight window or just chuck up a 50/50 ball (largely what McCown did). He's still a little sloppy in his cuts and breaks and like I said often doesn't create much separation. I think this is a factor for why he was ignored for large stretches of games this year when we had game managing QBs who live in the middle of the field. Getting 150 targets he's gonna give you huge numbers but Taylor isn't the type to feed a guy like that, at least from what he's shown. So I like Taylor for his decision-making and the added element he brings in being able to escape the rush and move the chains with his legs if needed. But is Alshon gonna be utilized enough to make the money worth it? The target-distribution in Buffalo makes me wonder. He targeted his TE the most and gave his top 2 WR 70 each. I'd think we could use the money more wisely.
