  1. I'm worried by this growing trend. Right now I'm not that worried, but if pitchers keep adding velocity and hitters keep striking out at a higher rate something will have to be done down the road. I really don't want to lower the mound or push it back. I think instituting an automated strike zone that calls balls/strikes far more accurately (hopefully 99%) will help alleviate the problem, but then again I could be wrong. I believe an automated strike zone will favor offense and hurt pitchers. What are you worried will happen? Do you see the direction of this trend? Can't you infer what is happening or do you need me to say it out loud lol?
  2. I don’t think they should trade them at all. They have them for 3-4 more years, hope they sync up with health/performance over that span to be competitive, if you have 2 guys pitching at 5-6+ WAR pace you can compete with suboptimal performance elsewhere. Seems like there would be more teams in on them during the offseason the during the season too, if they decide to move them. The top end FA pitching market sucks this offseason too. Completely disagree. The Mets are garbage. They haven't been able to keep pitching healthy in basically forever. There's no reason to expect that will suddenly change. And even so, they have a trash offense. They'd be better off going the full rebuild route, imo. Yup, the Mets are in a bad place and their farm system isn't great either. The rebuilds in ATL and PHI are almost over and they have young players ready to make an impact. I think ATL is going to dominate the division again over the next 2-3 years. Nats will still be good as well. The Mets window is closing and they should sell high on DeGrom if teams are willing to give up a good package of prospects. I wouldn't move Thor because he has an extra year of control. I believe he won't become a FA for another 3 years (after 2021). The Mets need a new GM/Team President and probably a new organizational philosophy too. Building a team around a young talented core of pitchers is a dangerous approach that will most often blow up in your face.

  4. Yeah, I don't follow the HR Derby that closely, but this was a good change. It still gets old and stale, but it's exciting when a player from your favorite team is competing in it. Same thing with the 3-PT Shooting Contest in the NBA.
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] Wat...
  6. I made the comp just off of the fangraphs page, but now seeing him play and how he hits/takes PAs Bote is definitely a version of DeRosa like I said and a better defender. A better defender than DeRosa? Not sure about that... I like Bote, but I really liked DeRosa when he was on the Cubs.
  7. Can someone change the subtitle to "Please score" cause that is totally what Jeb! would say if he were a Cubs fan.
  8. Is David Bote the best player on our team now? Who needs that Kris Bryant guy, amirite?
  9. Think of all the opposite field singles they will hit! So excited by this news!
  10. [tweet] [/tweet] Also features Willson in the video. Pretty cool.
  11. [tweet] [/tweet] Another reason to dislike Kolten Wong. I hope that ump sees this video.

  13. Is he? He’s 0.2 WAR behind Albies with 76 less plate appearances. And he can play SS and 3B. Hardly an outrageous decision by the fans. Tied after today in fWAR. And I still think Javy isn't valued properly defensively because of his Javy Tags and other ridiculous plays like the Puig DP the other day. Yeah, I don't understand why he doesn't accrue more value on defense. He definitely passes the eye test and most baseball scouts/execs believe he's excellent defensively. I really think the gulf between Russell and Baez on defense is overstated and not that large.
  14. I like your list, but I think you have Trevor Clifton too high. His stats are pretty good this year and he's at AAA now. He used to have a plus curveball and I wonder if it's back. I'm trying to get more information on Jhonny Pereda and how his tools rate. Definitely a good sleeper prospect.
  15. Definitely down for a trade for JA Happ. It shouldn't require that much and I'm not sure a better starter will become available. I liked the signing, but we made a mistake... Chatwood needs to be placed on the 10-day/60-day DL for "idiopathic walkitis". He's a lost cause and can't be fixed this season.
  16. Hopefully Baez does something amazing during the All-Star game. Other fanbases don't realize just how special a player he is. I mean we're not even surprised when he steals home anymore...

  18. I heard the Braves offered a $4 mil bonus a while back, but Carter and his agent wanted the full slot value. Wrist injuries aren't typically big issues for pitchers and are more worrisome for hitters (takes away power and can be a chronic problem). I don't understand why the Braves didn't offer the full value. If his elbow and shoulder area look fine then you shouldn't really haggle over other stuff.
  19. [tweet] [/tweet] The Rays had a really good draft by getting perhaps the two most talented LHPs in the draft in McClanahan and Liberatore.
  20. It’s all been completely predictable, but I still hate the way that Stl has treated Dex. The dumb homer side of me wants the Cubs to trade for him just to bring him home. It's not dumb. I think a part of our collective brains all want to "bring him home". It's just not possible with the current roster construction plus his contract and the simple fact that the Cardinals and Cubs just don't make trades with each other. I thought about possible trades to extricate Dexter from the Cardinals and one that sorta makes sense is Ian Desmond for Dexter Fowler. Both of them have been terrible this year and have three years left on their contracts.
  21. Good news? I think it is, end of July isn’t far off. I think this is good news as well. I don't care as long as Darvish is pitching well (and is healthy) right before the postseason starts.
  22. Where to begin lol? First off, you have Swarmer being sent out twice... You have him in the deal for Harper and in the deal for Treinen/Lucroy. I guess you see some of the pieces as interchangeable, but it's still weird. I like your optimism but the only semi-realistic deal is the first package you listed for Treinen/Lucroy. I know you're just doing this for fun, but let's be a little more serious. I mean I'm surprised you didn't have us making a deal of Mike Trout for Almora/Happ/Carl Edwards Jr./Amaya/THE Zach Short...
  23. Not my dream scenario... Not by a long shot, but if Harper got traded somewhere and then we ended up signing him during the offseason we wouldn't lose a draft pick (which is always nice). I'd rather see the Dodgers miss the playoffs.
