  1. If anything the Cubs should get tremendous credit for developing Baez and all his success this season. I can totally see Baez floundering in another organization where the manager has little patience for a young player like Baez. No doubt in my mind that Maddon is the perfect manager for Baez. Happ was largely a finished product when we drafted him and just needed the reps. I guess he wouldn't be as defensively versatile if he were in another organization. Happ is probably just a second baseman in another organization. Not sure how much Russell changed going from Oakland to Chicago, or exactly how much credit we should get for his development. All three players are playing well at the big league level and the Cubs deserve credit for developing them.
  2. Hurts specifically in the knee area Nee Hurd I can't take credit for this lol. Fits really well here:
  3. Also never forget this gem: [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] STFU
  4. [tweet] [/tweet] "then most" ...   How is their spelling and grammar so consistently poor?
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] Not a big fan of those old baseball cliches (grit/toughness), but Baez was not feeling well last night so I understand what Schwarber means. I think Baez plays with a lot of nicks and bruises all the time and wonder how he does this stuff without missing significant time.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] Man, if you told me Rizzo and Bryant were batting 1-2, in front of Heyward at 3 and Baez at the cleanup spot a couple years ago I'd probably say Maddon needs to lay off the wine bottle for a while.
  7. This pic hurts... [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Who is this loser? Geez, is he really upset or is this an act? Like how can you be this upset over a Cubs win? Also, Hendricks does not suck and he's going return to his normal dominant form after the All-Star break. Last 3 years (15-17): Pre-AS break: 3.30 ERA in 259 1/3 innings Post-AS break: 2.73 ERA in 250 1/3 innings Last year: Pre-AS break: 4.09 ERA Post-AS break: 2.19 ERA

  10. Yeah, I noticed this too. He's a patient hitter overall but for some reason at AAA he's been hacking up there. He was fine at AA. He definitely has good power and I think his defense is good enough to stay at 3B. I think he's a solid prospect who we could throw into a deal as a third or fourth piece. I'm glad we have hitting prospects like this now in the system. I'm more inclined to trade Happ for some pitching now that we prospects like Bote, Vosler, Short and Giambrone. Not all of them are going to make an impact, but Bote looks great so far.
  11. I hate Isaiah Thomas and always thought he was overrated. His defense sucks and his personality is grating. I hope this humbles him, but I doubt it.
  12. Just look at the comments their GM just made about Dex. They’ll hire the same type of guy if they fire Matheny. I could see them landing Girardi if he wants back in. He's not great but competent enough, and checks all the cardinal-ly boxes. They're not landing Girardi. He's too smart to go there. I think they would ask him, but he'd probably decline. Honestly, if Renteria got fired by a Chicago team again I could maybe see Girardi signing with the White Sox. They are a team on the rise.
  13. go to hell Fear not for Theo will counter with Shane Greene and either Adam Jones or Cameron Maybin
  14. [tweet] [/tweet]Good one lol. [tweet] [/tweet] So there is a chance the final round in the Home Run Derby is all Cubs with Baez & Schwarber on opposite sides of the bracket. Pretty awesome. Definitely want Baez to destroy that Muncy guy.
  15. Way to put the hex on him. Well, now we know the reason...
  16. Why did we wait so long to use this Norwood guy? Seems pretty good to me.
  17. That sucks, but I still think we're coming back and winning this game.
  18. EDIT: So far he has a minor league stat line of .294/.442/.529 in 10 games. That is a nice .971 OPS.
  19. I wouldn't exactly say they HAD to, Bob. I don't think we sign Chatwood if we had signed that weirdo, the "Lizard King".
  20. Abbot really hasn't been that much different at MB than he was in SB. Walks are up a bit, but the difference in results is a ridiculous .394 BABIP against. That won't last. He's even induced a lot more grounders upon being promoted. It's all SSS of course, but the K's are still there for him. Edit: Whoops. .391 BABIP against. Still ridiculously high. Does anyone have a report on his fastball velocity? I'm talking about Abbott. If he can gains a few ticks on his fastball he becomes really interesting in my opinion. He has a really good cutter/slider (whatever you want to call it) and good command and some deception.
  21. Oh yeah, I think we're coming back and getting that W. It might not even be close (the final score).
  22. Do you see the direction of this trend? Can't you infer what is happening or do you need me to say it out loud lol? Who cares if we have fewer roll over GBs to infielders? It's not just that. MLB hitters are talking about how it's getting harder and harder to get base hits and just put the ball in play now. Defensive shifts, better and more detailed scouting reports, probably better catcher framing/presentation hurts them as well. Right now, offense is fine but I'm worried about down the road if they ever solve this "juiced ball" paradox then HRs should correspondingly drop. I can see strikeouts keep rising to new crazy high levels if pitchers keep throwing harder. I don't see this trend of pitchers throwing harder letting up.
