  1. Criticize it and dismiss it all you want, but the great dark purge seems to have really lifted morale in that clubhouse. Eh, I think it was getting rid of the old clueless whitey-in-charge, i.e. this guy:
  2. [tweet] [/tweet] This is pretty good.
  3. :flythew: Good Win. I would've liked some more runs, but we got the W.
  4. https://deadspin.com/ben-zobrist-is-still-very-much-looking-forward-to-robot-1828345886 Interesting take in the comments section and by "interesting" I mean terrible on so many levels:
  5. Tommy might not be our best PH option even if he's the only position player left on the bench. So what I think you're saying is you want a pitcher to PH in that scenario? http://gifimage.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/weirdo-gif-11.gif
  6. Nice opposite field shot right there. I always wonder if the hitter intended to hit it like this or it just kinda happens. This one looks like he was trying to hit it to the opposite field. This would make Maddon and Chili Davis happy for sure.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] I know nothing about this guy, but he's doing well so far. Still, the fact we're getting prime Cole Hamels + cash for Eddie Butler, Rollie Lacy and this kid is amazing. I really thought they were getting a better prospect, but maybe the Rangers really like this guy. This might go down as one of the better trades in the Epstein/Hoyer era. Clearly, the Cubs need to make more trades with Texas.
  8. I heard the Cubs don't want him relying on the curveball and want him to work on his changeup. That was a key goal for him this season. Also work on fastball command, but honestly that's true for like almost every pitcher in the minor leagues. I was really hoping the plus fastball that he showed during his freshman year at LSU would return. It's hard to see him dominating at the big league with that kind of pedestrian fastball. If he can locate it really well and pitch on the edges of the strikezone it's possible I guess.

  10. That was awesome to hear. I know players (the vast majority of them) want this, but they rarely ever say it out loud. This is the #1 thing I want changed in MLB. It's about time they stop letting these shitty umps ruin the game.
  11. As a follow up to the Anthony Bass decision, it seems CubsProspects had a noteworthy take on it. Very likely end of the road between Mr. Bass & the Cubs: [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] Thanks for posting that. I'm also very confused by this decision. I was a big fan of Bass and thought he was very solid in his time up here. I don't know why they took him off the 40-man roster and exposed him. We could certainly use him in September if healthy. I don't understand the rationale behind this move at all.

  13. I don't expect you (or anyone really) to go back and check the old threads, but I just wanted to state this to refute the idea that he's a non-prospect and came out of nowhere. Scouts and prospect analysts noticed him and obviously Cubs' brass. He was added to the 40-man roster and would've been selected in the rule 5 draft most likely. I just hate the idea or notion this is some fluke and that he's "probably nothing". [expletive], you wanted to spike the football on a long shot call you made in hopes that we e-fellate you What? Okay, I've posted here long enough for people to know that isn't what I'm about... I wasn't even the biggest Bote fan or backer here. I liked him last year, but other posters liked him more and/or noticed him before me. I only want credit when I push for an amateur prospect in the draft and they end up being legit/making it to the big leagues. I really don't make "long shot calls" on prospects in our farm system. I like Eloy a lot, and wasn't a fan of the Quintana trade but that isn't really some edgy hot take.

  15. I've been on the Bote bandwagon since the beginning. People who follow the minors really closely noticed him and we talked about him last year. Check the minor league threads. I considered using him as a trade chip earlier in the season but quickly abandoned that idea a long time ago. He's legit and we clearly need him. I don't think he takes La Stella's spot on the team next year. Tommy is still our best PH option and the team loves his character and how good a teammate he is. It's more likely Bote takes one of the spots occupied by Happ, Almora and/or Russell right now. We're definitely moving someone this offseason. I predict Javy takes over the SS position either starting next year or in two years. We're not keeping Russell long-term.
  16. Oh yeah, he knew immediately off the bat. He horsefeathering crushed it and then pimped his way around the bases. Bote is a horsefeathering Cubs legend no matter what he does from this point on.
  17. Better look at the bat flip: [tweet]https://twitter.com/Cubs_Live/status/1028841637848539142[/tweet]
  18. Mr. Exit Velocity Bote hit that horsefeathers 110 MPH and it traveled 442 ft!
  19. Wait, why are we having Happ run for Wilson? Why?
  20. [tweet] [/tweet] How have you guys not posted this? CJ totally looks like a kid riding his bike to the park today lol.
  21. He's not done per se, but it's pretty safe to say he's no longer an ace or TOR arm. We also shouldn't expect a Verlander-type bounceback or sudden increase in velocity/spin rate even if he changes his diet/workout regimen/offseason training/etc.
  22. Ah, I've seen him next to his Dad. Unfortunately, I don't think KB is going to age well. I know, I know... most players don't age well, but I have a bad feeling about KB in his late thirties.
