  1. I wish I had your confidence. I'm just not feeling it today.
  2. [tweet] [/tweet] No offense to old people, but do you really want to hire a 65-year old to lead you in any industry/business? What a terrible organization... I wish the Yankees were as incompetent as the team on the other side of town.
  3. I don't bet or gamble so I have an imaginary hundo in my hand that says he does not get some kind of procedure this offseason. Nothing major certainly.
  4. That's obviously a valuable player, but not quite the "#1 overall pick type talent" that I was led to believe. I've read mixed things about Victor Victor Mesa from very hyperbolic statements to basically this. If he is, in fact, Albert Almora he's really not all that valuable. I mean we're not signing him so it's not a big deal anyway. Not sure what to think, but in those videos of him taking BP his bat speed seemed very impressive to me and way faster than Almora. I think his overall speed and athleticism is better than Almora as well.
  5. I'm pretty sure the Ricketts don't give a horsefeathers what the other team owners/billionaires think of them. An understated story during the CBA discussions is the tension and bad feelings between the owners of big market teams vs. the small market teams. The owners in small markets resent the ownership groups in big markets and always complain about competitive balance and finances and whatnot. The owners in big markets tell them to shut up and be happy with the extra draft picks and revenue-sharing checks they receive. They always come to some kind of agreement but the bad feelings remain. I'm pretty sure the Ricketts will spend whatever it takes to get a talent like Harper if Epstein really wants to sign him.
  6. So Cole Hamels is pitching really well and looks like a different pitcher in his short time here. If he keeps pitching this well (and does well in the playoffs) I think the Cubs seriously consider picking up his option. Not necessarily to keep him, but to use as a nice trade chip. If we're going after Bryce Harper and maybe an elite RP (Britton or Miller) then the Cubs are going over the Luxury Tax threshold. Cole Hamels at $20 mil isn't a great price or a great value in a trade, but if the Cubs were willing to eat some of that I would think they'd be able to get a decent prospect back. I'm not sure exactly how much, but I think if the Cubs eat $5 mil or so then Hamels for 1 year/$15 mil isn't a bad deal at all. I could see us making a deal with SD since they have the best farm system in baseball, they have a surplus of prospects right now, Hamels is from SD and they want a veteran pitcher on the team next year (they had heavy interest in deGrom & Syndergaard at the trade deadline). I'm probably looking too far ahead, but I really think the Cubs are going to pick up his option if he continues to perform. What do you guys think?
  7. http://gif-finder.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Will-Ferrell-Thats-dumb.gif WTF are you going on about??? Bote is already something and big league scouts and teams have already noticed him. Teams wanted to acquire him at the trade deadline and were asking the Cubs about him.
  8. [expletive], THIS WILL NEVER STOP PISSING ME OFF. WHY DID THEY horsefeathering GO BACK. Realistically, it's because of the connections between the Ricketts family and Trump. I hate that they went back as well...
  9. Bote batting fourth against a crappy KC team...
  10. I would be surprised if Eloy becomes 70% of Harper. Technically, 70% of a 1.000 OPS is a .700 OPS, so... Yeah, I was going to mention this as well lol. 70% of what Harper produces in value isn't actually all that great. He probably meant a higher percentage or something.
  11. Ah, I miss watching Ken Griffey Jr. (in his prime) hit, but what's the point in mentioning it lol. Also, Ichiro when he first came over was something else. Manny was a great hitter, but I never felt that awe-inspired watching him hit. manny was a goofy horsefeathers who, to steal from your old sig, approached an at bat like mozart while everyone else was salieri WAT? I've never had a sig in my profile so I'm a little confused? It's a good analogy I guess...
  12. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] They do make some awesome baseball products. Highly recommend checking it out. A tad expensive though...

  14. D. Lee should've won the MVP that season as well. That season was maybe the single best offensive performance I've seen from a Cubs' player. He was so locked in and had so many clutch hits.
  15. That's 11 innings, 10 H, 3 BB, 11 K's, 1 ER, 0.82 ERA so far with the Cubs :D
  16. [tweet] [/tweet] Amazing play
  17. Bad things happen when you keep Bote out of the lineup Maddon. Bad things...
  18. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/mlb-anthony-rizzo-redemption-umpire-admits-he-got-call-wrong-cubs-padres HOLY horsefeathers... An umpire actually admitted he was wrong (in the weakest of ways), but still that's simply amazing! [tweet] [/tweet] "I'm not perfect" -- Angel Hernandez
  19. Hey, at least Russell isn't batting fourth again. Heyward shouldn't be in the 3 spot, but he is hitting better this year and I believe in him. Oh definitely, Bote should totally be in this lineup also.
  20. [tweet] [/tweet] LMAO. Nice try Darvish Edit: You know what? He got the cap pointed slightly sideways (that annoys Redbirds fans to no end) just right. Good job.
  21. So I really don't want to be that guy, but the opposing pitcher's name is Jake Junis, not Juris. Doesn't matter as long as we beat him.
  22. https://www.athletenation.org/?p=730 Some quotes and quick info on Cubs' draft picks Cole Roederer and Kohl Franklin in the link above. His favorite player is Bryce Harper huh? Nice. He grew up a Dodgers' fan (which isn't surprising), but his brother is a "diehard Cubs fan". He mentions the workout at Wrigley and how there were 12 or 13 guys there. I know we know some of those names, but I'm curious about the full list of invited players. I can't say I really like this quote from Kohl Franklin btw: Doesn't mean he's racist, but it certainly doesn't sound great. Hopefully, we don't discover some embarrassing awful thing he said on twitter... Sidenote: I really like Jordan Groshans and think he's going to be a star. I mentioned him a bunch before the draft. I think Toronto has a great scouting & player development system and I'd like the Cubs to steal some talented scouts/instructors from that organization.
  23. Stop talking about the damn Brewers. Focus on how much we suck right now please. EDIT: Not exactly right now. Baez is up and he's awesome.
