  1. I thought Hoerner was going straight to Eugene? He better rake for the couple days he's down there...
  2. [tweet] [/tweet] I know this guy isn't a Cubs draft pick, but I liked him coming out of HS and followed him in college. I can't believe he got this high a signing bonus after a somewhat disappointing year. Seems crazy and he's really going to have to hit since he'll provide little value on defense. He's also only 5'8" so not sure about how much power he'll have. He is a really disciplined hitter though. I was hoping he might fall in the draft (later than the 3rd round) and that the Cubs might take a shot on him in the 5th round or later.
  3. Not too worried. This is very aggravating, but this Cubs team will get out of this funk somehow. We're a playoff team and we're gonna win this division. I mean between the two Cubs fighting here one has to win right?
  4. [tweet]https://twitter.com/AthleticDesires/status/1005662530897760256[/tweet] I would love to see this happen in today's NBA because it'd be so horsefeathering weird lol.
  5. Yeah, his changeup looks really good when he's spotting it and keeping it down. His fastball command isn't great and his curveball isn't much of a chase pitch. All of his pitches have movement and he's hit 96 (maybe it was 95) so he has good stuff. He won't go very long in this game, but it's a decent first start so far.
  6. Why would you bother paying for a meal for the other team? It's cool I guess. Probably because he is a good dude who has more money than he will ever need and knows a lot of these guys have to grind for years making little to no money. Yeah, I know. I get it, but it's weird to pick up the tab for the opposing team. Never heard of anyone doing that before. He does seem like a good dude. I'm sure all the players on both teams really appreciate it.
  7. Thanks for sharing that. One of my favorite Cubs' players of all-time. Aramis was awesome and very underrated. He should have a role on this team or rather in the organization. Maybe as a special assistant, or hitting instructor/mentor to our young players at our Dominican Academy, etc.
  8. Why would you bother paying for a meal for the other team? It's cool I guess.
  9. I don't think we're getting busted for doing anything shady. We purposely targeted these Mexican prospects because of the rules/cap on large signing bonuses and as long as we didn't offer any money "under-the-table" we should be fine. We definitely have a good pipeline going right now so this affects us perhaps the most of any MLB team. I think this is more about how unfair the current system is for Mexican players/prospects and how their clubs get to keep the majority of the bonuses. It sucks that some kids might be unable to sign this July, but the new system should be better and more fair to the players.
  10. [tweet] [/tweet] I don't know why I think this, but I believe Luke Farrell can develop into a decent reliever for us. He has good stuff and okay control. Also, what happened to Eddie Butler? I don't really care if we trade him to open up a roster spot for Dakota Mekkes.
  11. Man, he really likes alternating really good seasons and shitty seasons. I guess this just means Bryce will have an MVP campaign in his first year as a Cubs player.
  12. You guys really like cracking jokes about mediocre pitchers from the 2012 draft. I pray you guys won't do this in like 5 years over the 2017 draft class...
  13. Not sure where to put this, but I guess it fits here: https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2782659-royals-considering-signing-oregon-state-pitcher-luke-heimlich.amp.html This makes no sense to me and is another reason to hate Dayton Moore. I hate him for even saying the team is exploring the possibility of signing him.
  14. Who do you guys think will have a better career as a reliever in MLB: Dakota Mekkes or Dillon Maples? My money is on Mekkes. I still don't understand how he's dominating so thoroughly in the minors...
  15. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23867657/hunter-strickland-san-francisco-giants-reliever-apologizes-temper-lands-dl I don't like Strickland and think he's a jerk, but maybe anger management counseling will help him be less of a jerk. I picture this guy when I think of him:
  16. I hope it's not the exact same squad. I hope we sign this guy standing next to KB: http://www.bleachernation.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/bryce-harper-and-kris-bryant-happy-together-Photo-by-Greg-FiumeGetty-Images.jpg
  17. [tweet]https://twitter.com/highkin/status/1009953283413196800[/tweet] I don't agree with the comp, but it sucks that there might be some truth to this...
  18. Check this out lol: [tweet] [/tweet] Oh Cardinals, how your terrible defensive plays bring a smile to my face. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. Lange with a good game today: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K (3.11 ERA overall) [tweet] [/tweet]
  20. This is a good compromise. I've never heard of this proposal, but I like it. So I don't really like the DH, but I'm pretty pissed off that not having the DH in the NL cost us Ohtani. The #1 concern/change I want is an automated strike zone and taking that responsibility away from shitty blind Umps. This Cubs offense would be much better with some form of an automated strike zone IMO.
  21. Not happy with the Carter pick, but very happy getting Hutchison at 22. I think they'll both develop into solid players, but they'll never be All-Stars or even the best players on this Bulls team. EDIT: Shoutout to Cubswin11, who pointed out Chandler Hutchison a couple months as a player he liked. I watched some video and liked him after watching some games/highlight videos/interviews. Good pick.
  22. I don’t get how this is on Maddon, Kyle horsefeathering sucked that inning and he went to a lefty vs a lefty that has been very good lately Yeah, I don't blame Maddon for this one. Hendricks was terrible that inning and Rosario has been pretty good. Just a shitty game and shitty luck. Our offense should've done more against Harvey.
  23. Man, this Bulls organization sure does love Duke players...
  24. I really really want Bagley, but it looks like he's going 2nd to the Kings (where all big men go to die). I really think we're drafting Carter and I'm not that excited about it. He'll be a solid player most likely, but he lacks the high ceiling of other players we could take.
