  1. That is an odd statement to me. He's 16 years old. I've seen video of him in the low 90's. What is he considering non-fringe velocity in a 16 year old? I doubt he pitches in the low 90's consistently. Lots of teenage pitchers have that listed in their profiles. We have to remember that average velocity is rising so what was considered average 10 years ago is now fringe or slightly-below average. I think the average fastball in MLB is now ~93 MPH. He should get stronger and add more velo as he matures. I like his curveball from the little I've seen in clips.
  2. Dex is definitely getting traded this offseason and maybe Tommy Pham too. I've heard Pham is pretty upset with organization and their fans clearly don't appreciate them. I doubt the Cardinals will be able to successfully sign/trade for a prominent African-American player for a long time.
  3. Yeah no, this never happened I was going to mention that post earlier, but was like "Why even bother? It's ridiculous". Baez is one of my favorite players of all-time and will become a Cubs legend... Zach Short is one of my favorite "oh yeah, I know that dude" players of all-today.
  4. Can confirm Rizzo is NOT a "super fake dickhole" in real life from multiple people who've met him. Where do you guys come up with these takes? Does anyone else want to speculate on which former players are dicks because there are some pretty obvious ones:
  5. Rene Rivera is also injured right now. Not too worried about the backup C spot. I think Caratini could fill it if necessary. All the names you mentioned will come at hefty prices, especially Treinen, Hand and Ottavino. So Britton looks pretty bad right now and I'm not sure how much value he has. Might not be fully right till next year.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] This is honestly one of the most impressive plays I've ever seen in baseball. I can't horsefeathering throw lefthanded for the life of me. Not to mention how much pain Velasquez must have been in...
  7. I'm very intrigued. I knew very little about him before the draft, but everything I've seen and heard and read since has me excited. He could be our version of Matt Carpenter (best case scenario).
  8. Wow. He got that much? Seriously? He's a good 3-pt specialist and ace FT shooter at the end of games, but he is one of the worst defensive players I've ever seen on the court. Really surprised he got that much...
  9. So I don't care how well he does the rest of the season -- I don't trust him and I don't want him on the playoff roster. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if we just traded him to clear up a roster spot. We can trade for someone better next month.
  10. Absolutely. Totally agree. I didn't realize he was like this in TB. It's nice, but sometimes he goes too far in providing cover for his players.
  11. I find it hilarious looking at these box scores and seeing Chris Coghlan on the AZL Cubs 1 squad. I'd rather just retire and become an instructor/hitting coach or something at this point...
  12. Wow. That's a beautiful swing and he definitely has good (maybe elite) bat speed.
  13. Fantastic. Didn't think we had a chance against Jansen anyway.
  14. I think that move was done explicitly for Mekke’s. Figure out exactly what we have. Bass, Zas, Hancock, Farrell, etc are nothing special to make them irreplaceable they should be rotating Mekkes and Maples in who have the upside I like Bass and Hancock and think they have good stuff/command. They're not special elite arms, but I wouldn't group them with Zas and Farrell. Mazzoni should be in this group as well. I would place them like this: Maples Mekkes Bass Hancock Rosario Farrell Mazzoni Zas
  15. We have an open roster spot now after Shae Simmons elected FA after clearing outright waivers. Right now we have a good pool of relievers that have been called up from AAA, but I still want to see what Dakota Mekkes can do. I mean AAA doesn't seem to be much of challenge. He's allowing a few too many hits and the WHIP is too high, but he's still striking out batters at a high rate. It's amazing that he's only allowed 3 HR in 126 innings so far. I don't know when he'll get the call, but I think he's ready now.

  17. Again, this always happens when I try making a post on my phone... Anyway, he should be making his debut pretty soon. He got a higher bonus than Brennen Davis. Not sure if that means the Cubs are higher on him or that it just took more to sign him away from going to school.
  18. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2018/06/27/detroit-tigers-players-chris-bosio-firing-awkward-weird/740008002/
  19. Bosio, you should know better. You got fired for saying dumb horsefeathers here. How about he BE better, not know better than to get caught again Sure, but it's really hard to get old people to genuinely change and be better people. Just look at our current horsefeathering president.
  20. I would expect the record at Coors field to be higher, especially since it's Barry Bonds. 26 HRs? That's it?
