  1. There is a good article on Fangraphs right now about the dumb comments made by Mozeliak. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/dexter-fowler-and-the-cardinals-foul-up/ The article is solid and summarizes it well, but it's the comments section that is PURE GOLD lol:
  2. I wonder what the long-term plan is for Oscar De La Cruz? Should he become a reliever full-time? Has he been fully healthy this year? Will he ever be fully healthy as a starter? He has a strong frame and is a big dude, but I wonder if he'll perform better in relief.
  3. We're probably done now. I don't think we're signing Parker.

  5. I find Quintana infinitely more frustrating to watch. I trust Hendricks more to get back on track and pitch well. I wasn't super duper happy when we made the trade for him last year. I think you're both getting caught by recency bias. I'd adjust my forecast for both of them south of where it started the year, but each has a track record of getting things figured out during the year and being damn fine pitchers. Quintana had a 4.49 ERA last year when we traded for him and he was money down the stretch. Hendricks had a 4.09 ERA in the first half last year and a 2.19 in the second half. There's still more than enough time for them to get their horsefeathers together and pitch like we expect. I believe in Hendricks, and said I trust him more to get back on track. Hendricks will be fine. I expect him to dominate in the second half just like last season. Quintana just doesn't seem to have good enough control/command. So many of his pitches are way outside the zone. His curveball doesn't seem that impressive. I'm just not that big a fan of Quintana even though I know the advanced stats say he's a solid pitcher.
  6. For anyone that missed it. Baez is a madman on the bases, but it somehow always works out lol. [tweet] [/tweet] "El Mago" indeed
  7. I don't think we have the pieces to make a blockbuster trade for DeGrom/Syndergaard. If we still had Eloy... Maybe if Happ were playing better and Ademan was tearing it up in the minors and if Alzolay were still healthy. I'm a little concerned with how frequently Syndergaard goes on the DL.

  9. Indeed. The Cubs will probably end up trading him at some point, but we should enjoy him while he's still here.
  10. Who? The kid in Phoenix. I'm sure I've heard his name, but until I read the article about the deal, I couldn't have told you where he went to school, where he went in the draft, etc. Devin Booker, SG. The kid is pretty talented. I got him for my fantasy team during his rookie season. Fantastic shooter.
  11. I like The Athletic and think it's worth it. I don't even bother reading the Chicago Tribune anymore. It's important to support journalism in some form and pay for good content. Obviously, it's way better to own a subscription to the Washington Post, but every bit helps. EDIT: I want to make clear I no longer read the sports section of the Chicago Tribune. The other sections are fine and I think people should support the Chicago Tribune.
  12. Duncan Robinson will not be in our top 5 lol. I like him, but I haven't read anything about his command and/or stuff ticking up. Anyway, Amaya is the clear #1 prospect in the system for me. Hoerner and Ademan are 2 and 3, but I'm not sure what order. Lange is up there. Machado I think is already a top 10 prospect. Marquez and Abbott are both top 10 prospects for me. Mekkes is a top 20 prospect (maybe 15). Roederer and Davis are both top 15 prospects in the system. I like Vosler and would rate him as a top 20 prospect. I'm assuming Bote is no longer considered a prospect anymore. He would rank pretty high in our system. Biggest fallers are Little, Alzolay (falls a little bit due to injuries), Albertos, Oscar De La Cruz and DJ Wilson. Gallardo, not Machado, right? I think there’s a reasonable argument for Gallardo at least in the top 15, possibly in the top 10, even when you consider how far away he is and how risky teenage pitchers are. Yeah, I meant Gallardo and not Machado. Richard Gallardo is the RHP. I need to get familiar with the new guys in our system.
  13. I did not realize Soriano had such a good year in 2007. His defense was always so bad and disappointing in LF from watching him on TV.
  14. I anticipate Hoerner leaping to top 3 by the end of the season, but for now I’d put Amaya, Ademan, Lange, and maybe Alzolay ahead of him. And as far as anticipating end of season, I think Márquez leap frogs even farther than Hoerner if he keeps doing what he’s doing. It’s also getting more difficult to keep Robinson out of the top 5. 15. [tweet] [/tweet] I could watch Baez highlights all day. Good stuff.

  20. Yup. I want Javy in the All-Star game, but I want everyone else to get some rest. Thought KB was a lock at the beginning of the year. Honestly, I wish the all-star break was a little longer, but it's not possible with the current 162 game schedule.

  22. Cardinals message boards are just so awful and over the top right now. Check out this thread on "Cards Talk" lol. http://interact.stltoday.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1272532 This thread and these responses all come from some user named catherine88:
  23. Oh, how wrong you are my friend... You clearly don't remember what his swing was like when he first came up do you?
