  1. He's going to need those 2 games off anyway because he hasn't been practicing much this offseason and needs to get into game shape?
  2. Seems like Briggs is a shitty caller (I'm assuming he's the one who calls the play on the field). Didn't the same thing happen with Conte in the GB game where he missed the man to man and played zone? Seems like there are a lot of miscommunication on the defensive side the past 2 years.
  3. Had Rueben Randle and Larry Fitzgerald and needed 4.0 points to win, got only 3.8. Lost in a second league by .26 points. I'm so thrilled football is back *NCAMFT* LOL I lost by .28 pt. Oh well... I knew it was coming because I won a game last year by 0.03 pt.
  4. It's a 2010 card so it's a 2nd year. I was trying to get a 2009 card, but all I saw were refractor auto cards. Do they put a "Rookie Card" insignia for guys like Trout in '09/'10 and even '11 as he wasn't in the majors yet when those cards came out? I've never really paid attention to prospect cards. Thanks for the grading info. What you said about Griffey Jr RC is why I want to get a few of mine graded. Like my '55 Hank Sauer card for example.
  5. If you're wondering... here's the card below. I bought the card and brought to the game for him to sign it. I have pictures of that day of him playing and pretty sure i got the ticket of the game somewhere so I can prove the "authenticity" of it although it wouldn't be a certificate like most places do. Like you said, it doesn't matter to me how much $ I could get because I'm keeping it unless I LITERALLY have to sell it. I know how those companies do their autographed cards. I have several of those types like Castro for example. Now if we're going by book value, it's probably my 96'-97' (I think that's the right year) MJ A Cut Above card although I haven't checked book value in a few years, but I know that card is worth quite a bit. It has the buzzsaw insert at the top. It was ~1:300 packs. Maybe that card is the most expensive card I have. BTW... does anyone know how much it cost to get a card graded (PSA/BGS/etc)? I really need to do this with some of these cards.
  6. My most expensive card to date is probably my Mike Trout card that he personally signed when he was in Arkansas for AA ball. I imagine the card is worth a ton right now because he signed the card with #23 which is what # he wore then. Now he signs with #27 so the #23 is somewhat of an oddity. Other than that, I got a few 1940s/50s cards and a 1922 W573 Johnny Mostil card, but it's in REALLY REALLY bad shape. I have quite a few more in my collection too (like 120 different Michael Jordan cards). My brother has David Robinson and Eric Dickerson rookie card that were personally signed. He also has a signed Walter Payton card too. That's about all he has though because he wasn't that big into collecting cards. I'll still randomly buy cards if the right one comes along (whether it's from hobby stores/online or ebay/friends/etc), but I rather buy memorabilia now as you get better value there like Kyle said. All this talk makes me want to bust out my collection and see what I actually have still.
  7. [expletive]. I'm considering picking up Gordon in my very deep fantasy league just in case. Picked him up in 4 of my 6 leagues. Can't hurt.
  8. What did you expect after a 13 year break? That and Cornell can't sing like he used to either.
  9. how hard is it for a "professional" tv guy to look up a dude's numbers He probably did look it up, saw that he had 21 and 33 BBs the past 2 years, and thought "wow... this guy walks as much as Castro does."
  10. It is well received now, but I also believe that NFL refs are fine with saying they were wrong on these challenges/replays because at that time, they might've not had the best view of the play and "WANT" to make the right call. MLB umps are a different story. I've seen some replays this year where it was definitely a no-brainer to overturn the call and they didn't. I don't care if it was really close and it basically comes down to judgement call. NFL still has those calls as well, but it seems like they get the no-brainers call 100% right now. Hopefully MLB will get to that point, but I have a hard time seeing some of these MLB umps overturning their own calls and losing some of the power/spotlight on the game they have right now.
  11. Pretty sure his slider has been very good this year. It's his 4 seamer that gets rocked. This is going by whiff% though. I think pitch f/x hates all of his pitches.
  12. Lovie isn't a horrible coach. I know he isn't. I actually like Lovie, but dude didn't give a [expletive] about his offense so he was NEVER going to get the Bears over the hump. This was the next time I saw him after he told me the whole "Lovie is a top 5-10 coach of all time". He just kept talking about how awesome Lovie was as a coach, how Tampa is on the same level as Denver/Seahawks this year and Bears will end up regret that they fired him. It was getting annoying so I had to bash on Lovie just to piss him off. He's also one of those guys who believe that Tebow should be a starting QB right now because he's a "winner". As far as Arrieta goes, I think there's no need to extend him right now.
  13. We do one bet (a case of beer for him or a handle of Captain for me) before each baseball season on which league will win the WS this year. I have the AL this year. That's usually the only bet we do each year because he RARELY wants to bet on anything, but the last time we hung out, I got him all fired up because I was talking about how horrible Lovie is as a coach so he got pissed off and made that bet. What's really frustrating about him is he knows his [expletive] about baseball and other sports, but he likes to talk about football the most.
  14. if you took the IQs of the people who identify themselves as fans of each of the three major sports, i think baseball fans would easily come out on top football is oh my god bad. i wish i could find a place that talks football as intelligently as this place talks baseball. dumb baseball fans are as bad as any of them but i bet baseball overall has a lot more nerds who like numbers and stuff This. I would say baseball is the worst overall as a group, but as for which sport is the worst when it comes to "Who could be the dumbest about a team/player/etc?", it's football. I know some really really REALLY dumb football fans. For example: I'm going to win $100 in a few months because a friend bet me that Tampa will win 11 or more this year because he thinks Lovie Smith is a top 5-10 coach of ALL TIME. Lombardi Halas Madden Walsh Lovie Smith I wish it was something like that. I asked him who he had ahead of Lovie and the first name he mentioned was Cowher. I just LOL'd as I walked away.

  16. LOL yeah I was extremely lazy to scroll down to see who it was when I posted that.
  17. The only other golfer I can think of is David Duval and kudos to whoever mentioned Hogan. I wouldn't count him though because it wasn't "golf-related" injury like Woods/Duval/Jacobsen/Couples/etc, but Hogan is still a badass.
  18. It is going to take a long time before that state is anything but Cardinals territory. The Travs in Little Rock were the AA affiliate forever and every cap you see is a Cards cap. It is where my hatred of them was forged. I saw more Royals fans than Cardinals fans during my time at U of Arkansas although that could be just the location state-wise and Royals AA team (Northwest Arkansas Naturals) is like 10 mins from campus.
  19. Certainly. They just weren't as noteworthy. Has there ever been another noteworthy golfer who has had as many injuries as Tiger Woods? Not really because if you go back 20 years or more, every injury Tiger had was basically a career-ending one. It's only because the advancements in the medical field that even allows Tiger to play as long as he has so far. Peter Jacobsen is the only other one I can think of and I'm not sure if you would call him noteworthy. He had a hip and back surgery that I know of.
  20. Livingston is the worst for me.
  21. Incredibly underrated movie. Léon is #27 on the IMDB 250. I think it's rated pretty highly (and deservedly so). THANK YOU!!! I was trying to figure out the name of that movie cuz I need to watch it again.
  22. There's a front page?
