  1. Close enough. Bushrod = a DE. It'll be either Michael Bennett or Johnson IMO. If Johnson is possible, then so is Hardy and I'm not sure why we aren't mentioning him? Is Hardy going to get that much more $$$ than Johnson? Bennett = a CB or S. I think it'll be towards a S since we already re-sign Jennings and then draft a CB early. Not sure if Bears will take a chance on Talib, but Emery does sign guys with character/off the field issues. Slauson = a DT hopefully. Bears should double up on DL in FA like they did on OL last year and still draft one early.
  2. Good to see Walter got his up now. I didn't mention him because he didn't have it up yet last time I checked. I'll be looking forward to whenever he gets the defensive positions.
  3. I've been using this, but I'm not sure how accurate it is though. http://nfltraderumors.co/2014-nfl-free-agents/ What site does you guys use?
  4. Throwing a couple names out there that I could see Bears going after... assuming all these guys hit the market. Brian De la Puente- Saints will be trying to re-sign Graham so he might get overlooked and would be an upgrade over Garza. Also has Bushrod/Kromer connection. Alex Mack would be awesome, but someone will give him a big contract. Captain Munnerlyn- Weren't the Bears on him the last time he was a FA?? Although if they sign him, Bears will have the shortest starting CB duo. Robert Ayers- Could be pretty cheap (probably can get him on a 1 year prove it deal) and needs a change of scenery. Still need a Michael Bennett/Johnson signing though. Arthur Jones/Linval Joseph- Nothing super special, but very solid and won't break the bank. I was going to name someone like Nate Allen for S, but really... any FA S will be an upgrade.
  5. I'm assuming you know he meant Earl there and because it would save the Bears like 2.5 mil. You can sign a cheaper WR who can most likely produce or even outproduce what Earl has done and stay healthy. I also think Trestman/Emery/etc thinks Wilson can fill in that #3 spot and it's why he's going to work out with everyone else in Florida. The only way he stays is if he cut his salary in half IMO.
  6. I trust Spotrac more than the prorated bonus over 5 years... http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/chicago-bears/jay-cutler/
  7. Charlie's @ walterfootball has his mock draft updated today. http://walterfootball.com/draft2014charlie.php Here are the Bears picks and what Charlie said for each one... 1- Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota (Nix went 15th to Steelers) 2- Dion Bailey, S, USC 3- Marcus Smith, DE/OLB, Louisville This is how I'm expecting the Bears draft go in the first 3 rounds barring someone falling to the Bears lap. All defense with the first 3 picks. Then something like a C/BPA on defense the rest of the way or possibly RB (only if James Wilder Jr or Dri Archer is there in the 6th- love both of those guys) so they can cut Bush and I don't have to watch him anymore. I'm not seeing a WR at the moment unless somebody Emery really like falls to him or Earl is cut. I think Bears will sign a few undrafted OLs just to keep addressing the depth there.
  8. He's also only about 190lbs. He's a different type of WR. He's not what I would call a burner though. Which I don't think is necessary. I think the last few years have shown you have a better chance of completing a deep ball to a big WR like Jeffery vs. a fast one like Knox. From what I remember watching him at Washington State and reading his scouting report, it seems like he's a skinnier version of Jeffery. A playmaker, good at jump ball, good hands, route running isn't that good, tall and lanky, long stride and elusive so he can beat you downfield if the CB is caught napping. Can cover a lot of ground in a hurry with his stride. There's potential there. Even if he did everything right, I don't think he's as talented or has as much potential as Jeffery, but they do have similar skills/style.
  9. Did he's get like $8m in guarantees in 2011? Wouldn't that partially offset the savings from just his salary? http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/chicago-bears/earl-bennett/ He got almost all of it in 2011 so there's no dead money.
  10. I think Bears would save something like 2.4 mil if Earl is cut.
  11. Plus they already know and have the playbook so they can work out on the timing. I believe when Martellus and Alshon went last year, they didn't have Trestman's playbook did they? Marshall has really step up ever since he came to Chicago. I also assume that Wilson is probably going to get the same workout treatment as Alshon got last year? Work on his conditioning/eating right/etc... I wonder if this means Earl is cut so they can have Wilson as the #3 WR?
  12. Well they have Revis as their #1 CB, and I don't believe they need any help at DT. Tillman could be a #2 CB, but I don't see Melton going there. I wonder how Revis will do in a Cover 2 scheme.
  13. Holy crap. Looks like Cliff Stein is gonna work his magic yet again this offseason.
  14. Just taking a wild guess here at $$$... Slauson: 4 yr/8 mil (made $815k this year and just over a mil in 2012) Jennings: 4 yr/24 mil (cap hit was 5.1 mil this year) Cutler: 7 yr/100 mil (14.29 mil avg so Cutler gets a nice pay raise, but it’s not crazy high for the Bears so win-win; plus it's a 100 mil contract so it "looks" good on paper/with the media/etc) What you guys think?
  15. Did Emery say anything about $$$ for those deals? I mean I doubt he did, but I'm watching it and for some reason, there's no closed captions.
  16. If Nix III is there at the 14th, I'm having a hard time thinking who I would pick over him. If you went by that mock offseason in page 2 in this thread, HaHa or a CB (who is the #1 CB in this draft anyway??) probably would make more sense since that mock has Bears re-signing Melton/Ratliff/Wootton and signing Michael Johnson and Arthur Jones where you could wait on a DT or DE until the 2nd/3rd round if you wanted to.
  17. So do we know that Bears got the 14th pick for sure in the upcoming draft?
  18. well, in fairness, what did Tucker have to lose? Well the NFC North division and get to play another game?
  19. Why do you do an all out blitz on a 4th and 8!?!?!?!?! I was prepared to give Tucker a 2nd chance due to injuries and let him revamp the defense/get his type of players in the offseason, but he should be fired tomorrow morning.
  20. Jeffery didn't need to try to seperate to gain that little space. It pushed him away from the ball where he had to catch it with his fingertips and Shields def not gonna outjump him anyway.
  21. Sign Jarius Byrd and draft a S this offseason...
  22. That's what I'm thinking. I can't see how the refs be 100% sure that the ball DIDN'T hit the ground. Sure it hit his forearm, but it looks like part of it hit the ground as well.
  23. i've actually noticed that too. they look a lot better in nickel. Rodgers running no huddle and Packers using 3 WRs set a lot is why.
  24. OL coming out this half on a mission.
  25. He never does... I don't get it.
