    That's what I was thinking last night too. Hope it happens. I was under the impression that Zagunis was the more likely guy to stick at catcher, but he's played more games in LF than behind the plate so far in Boise. I think Theo/Jed don't care about them being behind the plate this year. They just want everyone to get as many ABs as possible and evaluate where they should be in the offseason. Plus it'll save some wear and tear. That being said, I do believe Zagunis will play at mainly C next season.

    If you count managers (and use their playing career as well) in this six degrees game, I have one with Castro and then I found one where it's just 5 guys from 1871 to now. Other wise it's 8 players (the 7 I mentioned before plus a teammate of Latham that played from 1871-1880).     Pretty sure this is the answer you're looking for. I got 7 degrees going all the way back to 1880. Here are the 7 guys. I'm not sure if there's 6 guys with an active player that can beat 1908. It's possible you could find 6 earlier than 1908 if you find a Nick Altrock/Jack Quinn/Charley O'Leary-type link in there.     I just saw that yesterday and wondered how the hell he was having such a good year. Also, I don't think I've ever actually seen Michael Brantley. I just assumed he was Jeff Brantley's kid, so I was shocked when I saw that he's not white. Close. He's Mickey Brantley's son (Mariners OF in the late 80s).

    I might be in the minority, but if Cavs get Love, I like Irving/LeBron/Love more than Wade/LeBron/Bosh. Irving/Love might not be "better" than Wade/Bosh, but they're a better fit with LeBron as far as playing style goes IMO.

    So when would the reno of concessions/concourses/bathrooms/seats/upper deck/etc (basically from foul pole to foul pole) fit in the timeline here? I imagine it's after the 2015 season and be ready for opening day 2016 along with the clubhouse? Or is it part of the "rest of the project" that will be ready for opening day 2018? It hasn't been talked about much lately because they didn't change much of this stuff in the new proposal, but was curious if anybody read or hear about it.

    I'm somewhat sad. I was really looking forward to watching him here next season, but I'm glad Cubs was able to sign him. I didn't think they were able to give him the $$$ he wants. Are you in Lafayette/Purdue? I went there for my schoolin' Yep. Grew up 30 mins northwest from Lafayette (Earl Park if you're wondering). Went to Purdue for CGT then Arkansas for Architecture and now I'm back here.

    He could go the JUCO route and be eligible again next year. I'm not sure of the transfer rules in college baseball, but I think he can leave/not enroll at UCLA, go directly to a JUCO/CC and be eligible again the following year. Not positive, but even with a failed physical, I think the Astros are required to offer him 40% of slot regardless. Their value was a tad over 7.9 mill, if there were an injury of any sort, it'd be awfully tough for Aiken to turn down 3.5 mill when all is said and done. I thought I've seen it somewhere that Astros has to offer 40% of slot in order to get a comp pick next year (2nd pick next year and assuming Aiken wouldn't take the 3.16 mil offer). I don't think it's required though. If they didn't, they lose the slot money/5% overage/etc this year AND no comp pick next year so it's incredibly stupid if Astros didn't offer the 40%.

    Wouldn't that become Soldier Field 2.0? Where if you build on that property, the City of Chicago are the rightful owner? The Cubs wouldn't own the stadium so the city would have to come up with the $$$ to build it. I could be totally wrong about this though.

    Yeah, it's gonna get bumpy riding that one out. Still, it might be trumped in the worst value category by Verlander's before all is said and done. Vernon Wells will forever be the worst. Actually, no... B.J. Upton is well on his way to being the worst value ever Mike Hampton? That ended up being ugly.

    Baker, at his current rate, TRIPLES that. I think Plaid was going for longevity. I laughter so freaking hard when it was reviled he nearly lopped his fingers off during the offseason as a reason why he could hold a bat. I think he played another entire year after that too. Baker still has a positive WAR for his career. Yeah, I know Baker is technically on pace for some crazy number, but I'm genuinely interested if anyone's entire Cubs career is worse than Koyie Hill's. Eddie Miksis is the worst according to fWAR (-2.8) and having at least 1000+ PAs with the Cubs (2515 PAs). For comparsion, Hill was -1.3 in 834 PAs. If you want the worst regardless of PAs, Jerry Kindall was -3.4 in 849 PAs. If you ask me, even though it was just 1 year, I would vote for Aaron Miles.

    yeah. i play gin rummy on my phone, and if both players are playing semi-smartly it seems to be whoever gets dealt the best hand will win. but i guess that's why i'm not a professional. Yeah I know. I'm not sure how he did it, but Ungar was incredible at gin rummy.

    Yep it's Gin Rummy. He was so good at Gin Rummy that he was basically banned from everywhere because nobody would play him. He played against Harry Stein (regarded as the best gin player in Ungar's generation) and beat him 86 games to nothing. Stein drops out of the gin circle and quit professionally. Ungar was also eventually banned everywhere from playing blackjack as well. Then pretty much everyone knows about his skills in hold'em. Dude was INSANELY successful as that type of gambler. He won like 10 major hold'em tourneys out of 30 that he played in. That's '99-'08 Tiger type of dominance. Besides the coke, he was well known for whenever he hit big that night, he would pay for everything that night for whoever was with him or if a friend needed some money (like $100 for example), he would give them several grand. David was right though, he piss whatever was left at sports betting (mainly on horses). So how about Mike Trout the past couple weeks?
