  1. it wasn't "not a good slide", it was an actively bad slide. He did that on purpose. He didn't accidentally miss the bag for his leg. You realize what players do in that situation right? Break the double play and score a run. Baez did his job. He can't assume that Turner was going to be slow to throw at 2B and actually have a great chance at being safe.
  2. Interesting that you used that example. I had to give a penalty stroke to one of my junior high kids in a match last year for doing the exact same thing because another coach saw him do it and thought he was actually getting ready to hit. I know a lot of people weren't happy with me giving that penalty out.
  3. IIRC... once the player sign and turn in their scorecard over in that tent after the round is final. Otherwise the player would be DQ because he signed a lower score on that hole (if a penalty occurred). I believe, in this case, that the player would still win because PGA will be like, "Yes, this player made a penalty on this hole, but nobody caught it before he turned in his card so the score stays the same." A lucky break type of deal unless they can somehow prove the player knew of the penalty and didn't account for it then he's DQ and lose the win. Golf is weird in that players are in charge of penalizing themselves. So if the player signed a scorecard with a score lower than what it should be they would be DQ. The PGA doesn't have to prove that the player didn't know it was a penalty. The players are supposed to know the rules. They can't claim ignorance. What they would do is tell the player that someone said they should be penalized and adjust their scorecard before they turn it in. In a major tournament, the type of people that live for that horsefeathers are all watching and will call in immediately. That's the difference with the Lexi Thompson situation- not as many people are watching some random women's tour event. Yes, the players are supposed to know the rules, but there's so many rules. There's a ton of stupid or random rules/penalties that hardly anyone know about. Then they add, change, and remove rules every year so it's hard to keep track. It's why we keep seeing Lexi, that Anna girl at US women open, Dustin Johnson, Tiger a few years ago, etc all hit with penalties that they didn't even know or notice they committed. And these people do golf for a living. And 99% of the penalties that are called in are reported to the player that day and they adjust their scores then. What soccer was asking is what if it happened AFTER he's done with the tournament and the card is already turned in? I know it was Lexi's 3rd round when it happened and was penalized in the final. She got 4 penalty strokes (2 for the penalty then 2 for incorrect scorecard- so I guess that somewhat answer that question). She was still playing at that time. LPGA also fumbled this as that penalty should have not took that long. She should been told before her final round that she was going to be penalized and it's on her 3rd round score instead of being told on like the 13th hole or whatever. Why would you wait that long? Then again, I'm in the camp that nobody should be able to call/email in for this stuff. I'm fine with PGA having like an official group where they watch the cameras to look for that kind of stuff, but no random Joe blow should be able to call in.
  4. Good question. The Masters has a lot of officials (At least 3 on each hole) so it's pretty unlikely that something goes unnoticed. Also, a lot more people are watching the Masters so if someone watching at home noticed something, they would have already called in by now. 5. It's one game dude. What if Heyward goes 3-4 tomorrow? Is he fixed then? Just wait til like June and if he's still hitting like crap, then ok, there's a problem. Even if he doesn't, he still provide value with his defense and baserunning.
  6. I never said his swing doesn't look different/any better -- I said it still looks messed up and his timing still seems way off. Of course, we need to wait and be patient to see if maybe this new swing mechanics might make a difference and make him more productive. That's obvious. I hope I'm wrong and that all those scouts who were mentioned in that article on ESPN are also wrong. I really sincerely hope that J. Heyward will return to being at least league-average. I just doubt that it'll actually happen. Especially watching his AB's in spring training and then watching him yesterday. I made the post because no one mentioned his struggles yesterday. Yeah it's just one game, but I think it's a sign of things to come... It's only one game, but Kris Bryant is going to set the single season K record this year.
  7. Give me nachos with a mound of jalapeños on top and a beer.
  8. The best part was the announcer right after that was talking about how Cardinals have a great "culture". Here I'm thinking, "How horsefeathering horrible would it be to come to the locker room before every game and not have any music playing?"
  9. That needs to be a poster.
  10. Dude... have you ever had bottom shelf BBQ? Doesn't get you quite full so you have to eat a lot more of it.
  11. Seriously... the dude is going to finish with a triple double average and SOMEHOW he might not win MVP? All cuz Harden/James/etc have more wins? It should be unanimous for Westbrook. Harden's eFG% is better and there are some analyses on how Westbook has been leaving his man to stuff rebound stat sheets -- there have been some analyses on this. I don't think it's as easy a decision as you claim. Oh, I know there's a bunch of advanced metrics/analysis that makes you vote for Harden/James/ etc over Westbrook. I'm not going to dispute that at all. It's just we're talking about a historic season that has been done only 1 other time in history. Basically it's the equivalent to a .400 season in baseball (even though that's been done more than once).

  13. A WR? I'm not much of a colts fan but really a WR? These guys need a pass rusher something wacky They have TY Hilton and....? Not a fan of the available pass rushers with the 15th pick. I did consider Elijah Qualls. Moncrief and Dorsett, but the WR corp isn't exactly reliable so I can see Ross to give Luck more weapons. If it was me, I would've gone with Cook.
  14. Is a Fukudome (offensively) type season too much to ask for Heyward this year?
  15. Will this be showing again soon so I can record it? I was out all night and didn't know this was on.
  16. It seems like it's often, but the problem is that most of the organization who do trade down can't somehow be successful with more picks mainly cuz their org/GM suck balls. Maybe it's also coaching/development on top of that. Pats are pretty much the only team that are successful with the trading down for more picks although their 1st is always 20 or later. I will say that the success rate for the teams that trade UP is like a notch above nil (Julio Jones was worth it IMO).
  17. He is now because everyone is so used to him being that awesome, but his first couple years when he was robbing a HR like every other week plus everything else? Pujols (in his prime) was the most boring amazing player ever to me.
  18. if he ever figures it out at the plate (namely vs rhp) then easily...until he puts up big offensive numbers, i just have a hard time saying that without at least the caveat that it's just defense/baserunning. a few years ago i felt like puig was that guy. just exciting at everything. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Mike-Trout.jpg
  19. OJ Howard would do wonders for the Bills offense IMO. More so than a WR. CB is possibly a need since Gilmore is gone although I haven't checked to see if they signed anyone or look at their roster depth.
  20. 31 was mugging him already. I agree he was mugging him, but that should've been either charge/block or a travel. I'm not sure how all 3 refs decided not to call something there. The next play, I thought the video review showed the fingers move when he deflect the ball so it should've been Arkansas ball, but I don't think it would've mattered much considering there was 1 or 2 sec left on the play clock.
