  1. Colon's been lifted for Cory Wade, 3-2 NYY, bottom 6. 1st and 3rd, 2 out for Desmond Jennings.
  2. Someone bet you $100 dollars that the Sox would finish with 10 more wins than the Cubs?
  3. I think sneakypower called this one.
  4. Pretty much sounds like Juan Pierre to me.
  5. WR/TE flex spot: Evan Moore Denarius Moore Johnny Knox Yes, I know all these options suck. It's a 14 team league with 2 flex spots.
  6. People, people... we can quibble about Quade and Koyie later. What is important tonight is that the Cubs dealt a dreadful blow to the cardinals wildcard chances. Huzzah to that.
  7. So I wasn't the only one who immediately thought of that game. http://graneyandthepig.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/matthollidaynuts.jpg?w=358&h=243 If this picture ever stops making me smile, I'll know its time to pack it in.

  9. Well done, Mets.
  10. came across this mock-up of the cap: http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u332/leroy712/Marlinshat2012.jpg It looks like something out of The Jetsons.
  11. My surprise stems from his comments 2 days ago Re: his ongoing negotiations with STL: Signing another 1 year deal without even testing free agency appears to contradict those sentiments. I guess we'll see how much he gets next year. It just seems like he is bailing on what may be his last shot at a multi-year contract.
  12. Exact terms have not been released, but it appears to be a 1 year deal. I'm a little surprised the cards were able to negotiate another 1 year contract considering his level of production this season. Presuming the price tag is not astronomical, this is a great deal for them.
  13. Completely agree with this and most of the rest of your statement. My point was merely I think the Rays will be a tough team for a while longer, because Friedman knows where and how to spend his resources. He managed to follow a great season with another very competitive campaign while also netting a nice draft haul.
  14. Rays record last year: 96-66, 1st place in ALE. The Rays made 12 picks in the top 100 of the 2011 draft, mostly due to allowing 7 free agents to walk, including Crawford. They are again in playoff contention in 2011.
  15. Wait, what? If he wants 5-6 years for his oft injured 35 year old, I wonder what he wants for a 28 year old in the prime of his career who happens to be one of the best hitters in the game. Nobody is going to give Beltran 5-6 years, but I would expect Boras to say that. Any agent would given Beltrans performance record this year and historically. Personally, for the team that isn't relying on him to be the man he'll be a coup for at least the next two years. Injuries or not the guy is a legitimately great fn player and one of the games best athletes. I realize Beltran is relatively svelte and all, but 276 games played over the past three seasons doesn't really scream great athlete.
  16. What am I missing in your sig? . I think it's a joke Re: WSR's infatuation with LaHair.
  17. The problem with Barnwell's assertion is that the points in the game that he refers to were only pivotal because a fumble happened. It's not as though the Falcons were 3rd and goal during a tie game in the 4th quarter and coughed up possession. What's pivotal about 3rd and 3 from your own 27 yd line, down 17 points in the 3rd quarter? If Atlanta scoops that one up, it's 4th and long and they have to punt from inside their own 10. Not really a game changer. The only case occurring at a point even close to pivotal was Turner's fumble (the Falcon's were building momentum on that drive and only down 7 at the time) which came about due to Tillman's stripping the ball. Watching the replay, there were 3 Bears at the point of attack when the ball came loose, and only 1 Falcon. Hester's fumbles were evidence of sloppy play, sure, but they were also uncontested recoveries by the Bears, and Cutler's fumble was a "garbage time" play by Barnwell's own admission. It's a pretty weak argument on his part.
  18. That's not really a rant and it's not really realistic either. I know its not realistic. That (and the fact that my statement is only tangentially topical) is why I guess it felt like a rant to me.
  19. Not that it has anything to do with the vendors, but [rant] I really wish they would shut Wrigley down and build a new venue. Maybe someone could arrange for Ricketts and his wife to share an enchanted evening in the bleachers at PNC so he can fall in love with a decent ballpark. [/rant]
  20. First, as a fellow 14 team D. Thomas owner I feel your pain. The trade as I see it, though, amounts to you giving up Flacco and M. Bush for Tomlinson and maybe a half season of Manning. I'd just start Bush this week (Denver run defense was 2nd worst in the league last year) and let him roll with McCoy. Perhaps let him know that you are willing to part with Flacco and see what he might offer. He may become desperate in subsequent weeks if it looks like Manning is headed to IR.
  21. I kinda like Morgan. He's a very useful player baseball-wise, and I find his over-the-top histrionics entertaining, in a Ron Artest meets Clinton Portis kind of way.
  22. Cards' preseason offer to Pujols was reportedly 9 years, $195 million.
  23. The Giants are starting rookie Greg Jones in place of injured MLB Jonathan Goff. Considering that (in addition to the myriad other losses they've sustained on defense) I'd go with Hightower.
  24. For a guy with 28 RBI, that's pretty poor.
  25. Ingram vs. Stewart is a tough one. Probably Ingram. I'd go Moss over Colston this week, as NY's secondary is a shambles.
