  1. Interesting. Thanks.
  2. Dumb question: How does one find/calculate Major League equivalent numbers? Thanks!
  3. Cubs with a runner on 3rd and <2 outs: 0-6, no RBI. Team RISP: 0-13. Awful.
  4. Fun draft, this one. Great news.
  5. 5-2 Pittsburgh (Top 7). 1-0 Milwaukee (Top 5). Oh yeah, and 2-1 Cubs, 2 out Bot 4.
  6. Castro was everywhere that half inning.
  7. I think it is reasonable to say that anyone who would inflict possibly life threatening injury upon another person in retribution for cheating at baseball is crazy.
  8. well this player isn't a lunatic or anything. Jays fans make light of the allegations:
  9. http://www.chicagonow.com/offhanded-dribble/files/2011/06/StarlinCastro1.jpg "One thread is not enough. No amount of threads can contain my greatness." He continues to impress. The recent power surge is pure gravy. If gravy were made of heroin.
  10. A Dustyesque move by Quade, DeWitt hits 3rd.
  11. Ramirez scratched due to back spasms, DeWitt to start in his place. Link
  12. Per Rotoworld: Hester is probably the Bears 4th best receiver, imo. Hopefully this is just preseason bluster.
  13. Starlin Castro putting on a clinic. 12 pitch AB (8 foul balls) resulting in an RBI single.
  14. This is the Dustyball I remember. Solo HRs and lousy fundamental play.
  15. I'm really enjoying Yonder Alonso out in LF.

To be fair, if you're a pitcher it's a helluva lot safer to pound the strikezone against the Cubs' lineup than the Yankees' or the Red Sox'. Looks like a little of both: %St %O-Z %SwO-Z PPA Yankees 44.1 55.9 26.7 3.95 Bsox 44.9 55.1 28.7 3.98 Cubs 46.2 53.8 31.7 3.76 Those numbers only include the top 8 players, PA-wise (This is in order to negate the effect of pitchers hitting, although taking the numbers for the roster as a whole reproduces very similar results). It appears that the Yanks and Sox see a few less pitches in the zone (St) than out of the zone (O-Z), but they also swing at fewer pitches outside the zone (SwO-Z) and see more pitches per PA.
  17. Unlike an auction, a baseball trade is unlikely to involve purely fungible assets. Each team has a different pool of talent from which to present players for trade. A prohibitive contract restricts a broad swath of that talent pool from discussion.
  18. To review, Good Baseball (Motte vs. Braun): Dangerous Evil (Saito vs. Pujols):
  19. Who am I to argue perspective with a guy who thinks Todd Wellemeyer's 377.2 innings of 98 ERA+ pitching represents an organizational nadir.
  20. I can keep up with the team and point out their follies without watching them. Wow. You must be tons of fun. Yeah. We should just sit back and say Go Team without using any critical thinking. Or maybe try to enjoy your team being competitive. I'm sure it sucks having only won the NL pennant twice in the last 7 seasons, but bitching to Cubs fans about the woeful mismanagement of the Cardinals is kind of like showing up to a funeral and complaining about the weather.
