    I stopped listening to Cowherd after Ricketts bought the Cubs. I knew he trolled his audience a lot, but there's not much else on the radio in my area in that time slot. So, I listened anyway. The day the Cubs sale was announced he was trolling Cubs fans hard. He said Ricketts had overpaid and would run the team into the ground to make his money back. Of course, he was using an 8 year old valuation of the franchise to make his "argument." I decided to fire off an e-mail pointing that out just to see what would happen. I even included a link to the most recent Forbes valuation of the team. To my surprise he read my e-mail on-air, at least in part. IIRC, he didn't read the part where I called him out for lying, made it sound as if the most recent Forbes numbers were something I made up, and then said I was a delusional Cubs fan for thinking the Cubs were worth that number. So, I guess what I'm saying is that if Cowherd and people like him think it is stupid, it is almost necessarily a good idea. I enjoyed this post a lot

    Figured this was the most appropriate place to put this. Great article I found poring through old FJM posts. I would really, really like Silver/BP to update this for 2012, as Pujols' comps are just hysterical.

    And he wasn't under arrest and has lawyered up, so he would have left if it was too long/late. It was probably in his best interest to look compliant, and in the media's best interest to juice it up for a sexy story.

    The same Royals who are probably a year away from being a playoff team? Prospect lists are better than watching actual baseball. i challenge someone to disagree with me. Certainly following the minors will be better than watching baseball next year.

    I guess I don't disagree, but I'm kind of surprised you put so much stock in that. It's not like he was pitching in an empty Miller Park this year, but I suppose our media could easily break him. He's white. Just have him wear eye black and a dirty uniform. He's a goofy, stammering man-child. I don't think our media will like him - mental midget, anti-leader, and all that.

    You're new and you're saying dumb things with arrogance. I like you. According to the free agency thread, FMart is going to be claimed first by the Astros. I'm not all that interested in him taking up a spot on the 40, anyway.

    He's certainly not. The majority of baseball fans may get off on being withholding, but there's a sizable minority who think the HOF should be a bit bigger. I don't necessarily think the HOF should be a bit bigger, but there are certainly a few guys who have no business at all being in there (Rabbit Maranville, I'm looking in your direction). If you swapped out a few of those guys with Raines, etc I think it would be ok. This sounds like a JoeChat response minus the parenthetical. Really have never heard arguments for the HOF to be more inclusive. Consider my eyes opened.
