If we don't go big then I want a fire sale. Pretty much. If we went the firesale route and got some exciting young talent in return, I could still have fun following the team even if we only win 65 games. If keep what we have, don't add any big names (MLB or MILB) and only add a few low priced vets...I'll lose a lot of faith in the direction of the front office. I wouldn't be too upset over not adding Darvish. My guess is as good as anyone's as to whether he'll be successful here or not, but I wouldn't want Theo and Co. investing $100+ MM on something that could turn out to be an unknown. At least we know what Fielder is capable of because he's been doing it at this level for several years. We just can't afford a risk like that right now. Almost the exact opposite is true, in my opinion. Darvish is hardly an unknown, for one. He doesn't have Dice-K's injury red flags (smaller guy, herky-jerky motion) and he's younger. I mean, I prefer what Darvish is likely to get over what Fielder will get despite the fact that the guy is a pitcher, and 5+ years for a pitcher is terrible, terrifying thing.
