  1. Yeah, if it seems like guys who were mediocre or worse players tend to make good coaches then a guy who had a legendarily bad stretch of baseball might just be a [expletive] genius. Hell, Neifi might be some kind of coaching mastermind. I'm like 70% sure you're being sincere here, so I'm going to tentatively disagree. I think Counsell benefited from playing in an era that over-valued grit and grass stains and his prodigious lack of talent was over-looked. He also played under some impressively pathetic managers who enabled his slappy bat, poor baserunning and noodle arm to stay in baseball eons longer than he deserved. I think it's that, and nothing more.
  2. Wow, this would be a steal. I'm kinda with trey, though; if Stewart can be had this cheaply, and hasn't been snatched up yet, there is likely something about him we don't know. Or we're looking hard at Headley with Stewart as the backup option.
  3. Dude already kind of covered it. Just wanted to add that Jeffrey Loria is a horrible, deceitful, bottom line-humping businessman who hates baseball and now he's being forced to acknowledge his unfathomable wealth.
  4. I don't know, guys. Now that we have a Boeheim thread, he's had an awful lot to say about him.
  5. Jersey. Take a step back and ask yourself who you are arguing with right now.
  6. This thread is humorous
  7. I HATE UNCLE JAMIE! sorry.
  8. I would not be surprised to see team Theo come out guns blazing in this draft, racking up completely irresponsible penalties, expecting everyone else to come out timid and risk-averse. And with that said, there is a 0% chance that he even gives us an inkling of an iota of a morsel of what he's planning for this draft.
  9. Beyond that range, he'd be overpaid, but it's not very likely he'll go down as the worst signing. Go back and read his explanation to me. I think he's looking for the worst signing on paper, as soon as the contract is signed. Which is silly.
  10. I really liked the excerpt you provided that convinced me I should read the article
  11. EVERYONE WHO HAD KEMP 3RD SHOULD BE FUCKED IN THEIR FACES
  12. Hahahahaha that's horseshit.
  13. Expected production? Doesn't expected production dictate the price of the FA? Best value: Joe Nathan Worst value: Jose Reyes
  14. One would think they watched him work out enough in that goofy video.
  15. Dempster's been worth every cent we've paid him, and the two pitchers could not have had more different career arcs at their respective age 30 seasons, but otherwise, this post is spot-on.
  16. I think Theo has decided to communicate with the Chicago sports media strictly in the language of baseball analogies. This is all but proof that they are talking down to the media and laughing about it later. I couldn't be happier about that.
  17. My bad. Whatever, this is like the Jawdle of sabr stats.
  18. Since when does OPS+ not adjust for position?
  19. Until proven otherwise I'm assuming they all go back and giggle themselves to sleep after saying that [expletive]. I can live with that
  20. What the [expletive] kind of meatball [expletive] is that, Hoyer? Don't dumb yourself down to Dave Kaplan for Christ's sake.
  21. Exactly. Speaking of dumps, with all that new money he can afford to move them out of that dump of a state Texas and up to a nice luxury suburb in north of Chicago. Theo has obviously never been to Southlake. Wow, wiki says the town is 95% white. That's Winnetka.
