  1. Stunning. Doesn't every recent browser have built in spell check? Not the iPhone, which is where I post from a lot of the time. My I Phone has a built in spell checker to a fault. To be fair, autocorrect has probably never seen a word butchered that badly before
  2. So wonderful. But pretty mean to do to someone while they're at work.
  3. Isn't this the same guy who said he was sick of Hendry signing the best free agent all the time? So, Hendry's achilles heel is always paying the best guy and Theo's MO is to give medium contracts to middle relievers? OK dude.
  4. Jesus, davell destroys this thread. Speaking of really tall, conspicuous people, I saw Uma at O'Hare like 6-7 years ago. She glowed with hotness.
  5. Are the home and away clubhouses the same? I thought I remembered that the Cubs clubhouse is fine and up to date, while they just left the away clubhouse crappy and with things like bad hot water systems and stuff. I might be completely off, but I thought I remembered reading that awhile ago. Nope, the home clubhouse is a piece of [expletive], too
  6. I think I have to join him on this dream. Mike Maddux would be such a coup for this franchise....he's arguably the best coach in baseball right now...and I absolutely love what Texas has said they're doing with their pitchers (something akin to pitch counts are for c-words). Yes, definitely bring him here so Nolan Ryan can ruin all our arms Seems like Texas doesn't abuse their pitchers, so this is moot, but if Ryan had it his way, from some of his comments, 130-140 pitch marathons would be the norm, and if your arm exploded, well, that was because you were a [expletive]

  8. Yes, but for that reason, it isn't really a baseball movie, so the distinction is kind of important.
  9. Sullivan burying news again... this time about Wood Yeah, Wood also said in that interview that he won't play for anybody but the Cubs. It's Cubs or retirement. Man oh man do I love Kerry Wood.
  10. I don't think Greg will be a pitching coach. I think he's quite comfortable where he is. I dunno, he never looks very comfortable to me http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQifE7Q-opFmuTW6st1nJY--4ZnnxbDaMLXyqNFSVwma5ulVrXa
  11. I love Ace's Magical Market Inefficiency Tour. Solid.
  12. Good Fangraphs article on our managerial search. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/mike-quade-fired-dale-sveum-may-join-dream-team/
  13. It would be too bad if relations were really severed that badly, but it's not the Cubs' fault if he wants to be a petulant little bitch.
  14. Should the Cubs un-retire Ryno's number and take the flag down if he gets the Cardinal job? ;) For beating the Cards during his playing career and destroying the franchise with a managerial career? I'd build him a statue. I'm talking about the moment the press conference begins and he puts on the jersey. Just wait... If the cards get off to a slow start, whenever Ryne makes a questionable move the Cards fans will cry that he's a spy sent from the Cubs to destroy them from within. Oh God I hope so.
  15. This basically has to happen now
  16. Theo makes me so happy. Watch him steal [expletive] Maddon from the Rays. Theo's will be done.
  17. I can and will argue his level of control over his own results.
  18. Wut. What is your source for this "try him as a starter" noise? I've seen it in a couple of places that he's been told to prep over the winter to try out as a starter this spring. As I think through it, I believe it's all been through email with various people, though. Pretty reliable people, though. That's pretty awesome. I hadn't even considered it lately. Could be a very high reward to that little risk.

  20. I think this is fairly accurate. I have to swim upstream on LaRussa. I like him. He's fiery, competitive, and all he ever does is win, wherever he manages. WTH is not to like? You don't have to like him personally, but I highly admire his body of work, and would love to have a guy who gets his type of results manage the Cubs. It's very obvious to me that you missed this post:
  21. :( I was gonna do that. Really one of my favorite Cubs ever. I hope this means we tender him a team-friendly contract. No idea who would play 3B in his absence.
