  1. Please tell me Santo was at least a big jerk or smacked women around or howried on his grandmother or had done something other than click his frickin heels to deserve this.
  2. san fransisco isn't really a pitcher's park http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor?season=2008 I pretty much agree with you on not wanting Winn at all, but I have an issue with this. First off, one year park factors are pretty meaningless, and secondly, even in 2008 when run scoring in SF was up, it still stifled homers, which was basically his point. Wow, that was a very comma-ey sentence. I'll add that SBC is also significantly less friendly to left-handed hitters due to the gigantic RF power alley
  3. Nobody doesn't like Len. It's just gravy that he is a fellow Marquette grad. Good for him!
  4. that's Even worse, duDe. Means it's so cerebral that you do it subconsciously.
  5. I love this post
  6. How you make that post after reading BBB's post above is dumbfounding to me
  7. I like how he capitalized grind and toughness in his post. It's almost like he wanted the weakest points of his argument to stand out more. But for the record, I agree with most of what you said about Theriot minus the comparison of his and Cedeno's first-year BAs. OBP was the key difference between the two of them. Cedeno's sub-.300 OBP made him a complete liability at the plate that year, whereas Theriot's pedestrian .330ish OBP made him replacement-level
  8. I heard on ESPN 1000 this afternoon that the offer was 4/52. Don't know why I'm the only one that heard that, but there it is
  9. Since they do have similar eyewear, you're probably right
  10. Are you trying to tell us something that we don't already know here? Look, this is really simple: there is way too much emotion going on in all of your posts. No one is happy that Hill's control has disappeared, and no one knows why it happened. Even if there were a meaningful discussion to be had here (and there isn't), it wouldn't happen because of the nature and tone of your posts. People here don't respond well to these petulant, emotionally charged posts under any circumstances, really. And frankly, the only posts that make the thread readable are the sarcastic ones. You are right when you talk about the vets on this board and the difficulty of getting a post/thread accepted by them. The majority of their posts are probably shots at uninformed and tactless posters cluttering the board, but you'll notice that when any of them start a thread,* they normally make a substantive claim that induces discussion. The "noobs" and the emotionally-driven tend to treat starting a new thread like another post, and forget the substance and hurt any chance of a real discussion. Once you begin starting threads with stats-based claims and relevant information, things will get better for you. *with the exception of maybe IMB. But 90% of them are funny.
  11. Very nice. This sounds like something Woody Allen would say.
  12. NOOO. Jesus, NO. It's NOT. At all!
  13. Guesses as to how many pages this thread gets to by Monday?
  14. Total hyperbole
  15. This thread is too funny. I'm eagerly awaiting Badnews' return
  16. They'll get their fair share of awesome teams for at least the next five years, so I sort of agree with this.
  17. If this place wants to be serious about enforcing board guidelines then this guy should be gone for this post
  18. Seriously...it's time for Lou to own this. He's setting the guy up for failure in big spots, what does he expect? Stick him in center and bat him eighth, where his production will be only slightly below average.
  19. Word. Those guys are getting adopted by me this year
  20. Sometimes I think everyone has me on ignore
  21. Sort of. It would be akin to the 10mm they spent on Yankee Stadium in the 70s - it would only delay the inevitable. Also it sounds like the main problem with the player facilities is a lack of space. A new coat of paint and some tvs isn't going to do much to change that, IMO. Also, IMO, those who are rooting for Cuban to buy the Cubs (like me) are also essentially rooting for a new stadium to be built sooner rather than later. We all know that Cuban likes to take care of his players. I'd be fine with this as I think the franchise would be better off they separated themselves from the whiny beotches in Wrigleyville and played more damn night games. Plus it would amuse me to watch property values in Lakeview plummet. Thoughts?
