  1. It could easily be that both DB and DB reincarnated are pranks. Funny ones, too. Sometimes I need to tell myself this just to preserve my faith in humanity
  2. Am I the only one who doesn't believe this guy is really DB or for real at all? Kinda seems like a prank (especially considering DB didn't last but 2 months or so here yet he claims to have been here for years). Oh yeah, Peavy. I think we'll get him and I think what's holding it up right now is getting rid of Marquis and I would guess the issue of Vitters or Pie (and not both).
  3. Didn't we have like the best offense in the NL last year, or at least close to the best? Who cares what we need. We need a RF and 1 more SP. I'd rather have Reed Johnson in RF and Peavy then Milton Bradley and Marquis. That's idiotic
  4. The biggest difference is that Peavy is signed long-term and is thus a burden for several years. Johan was gone after the season, anyway and at least garnered two picks if they lost him to FA. Pads are in a much worse leverage position with Peavy, IMO.
  5. Gets me more excited but Clement has the edge over Dempster for me FWIW, Clement never had a season as good as Dempster's 2008. His 2002 might've been close. But I know what you're saying. Yep I know. But Demp didn't have that season in our theoretical rotation, yo
  6. someone get HCF to translate
  7. Gets me more excited but Clement has the edge over Dempster for me
  8. I only did that to see if someone would bite so I could make fun of them
  9. It ain't over until it's over. That's right Yogi what does yogi bear have to do with anything?
  10. If DeRosa is the hold-up for Peavy, I'm not going to like him anymore
  11. Everyone will make sure to hire some writers to improve these jokes to your level immediately. The funny thing is that I've found everything you've said in the last two pages hilarious...I'm not sure what thread abuck is reading
  12. Kinda like Oakland? Hudson,Mulder,Harden,Haren, etc... Yes, because all those pitchers turned out to be just awful out of Oakland
  13. Really? That's the only difference you see between the two of them in terms of their plate approach? Their value to the Cubs? Not being critical, just honestly curious about your feelings here. Edit: It appears you were estimating what things looked like through Lou/Hendry's eyes. Retracted
  14. Seriously? How about asking some scouts Lou? You mean Hughes should be asking the pro scouts, Hughes should relay it to Hendry and Hendry should pass it onto Lou. Or just have Hendry or more likely one of his assistants look up his scouting report from the database. How are they supposed to jack up his price that way?
  15. Please tell me Santo was at least a big jerk or smacked women around or howried on his grandmother or had done something other than click his frickin heels to deserve this.
  16. san fransisco isn't really a pitcher's park http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor?season=2008 I pretty much agree with you on not wanting Winn at all, but I have an issue with this. First off, one year park factors are pretty meaningless, and secondly, even in 2008 when run scoring in SF was up, it still stifled homers, which was basically his point. Wow, that was a very comma-ey sentence. I'll add that SBC is also significantly less friendly to left-handed hitters due to the gigantic RF power alley
  17. Nobody doesn't like Len. It's just gravy that he is a fellow Marquette grad. Good for him!
  18. that's Even worse, duDe. Means it's so cerebral that you do it subconsciously.
  19. I love this post
  20. How you make that post after reading BBB's post above is dumbfounding to me
  21. I like how he capitalized grind and toughness in his post. It's almost like he wanted the weakest points of his argument to stand out more. But for the record, I agree with most of what you said about Theriot minus the comparison of his and Cedeno's first-year BAs. OBP was the key difference between the two of them. Cedeno's sub-.300 OBP made him a complete liability at the plate that year, whereas Theriot's pedestrian .330ish OBP made him replacement-level
  22. I heard on ESPN 1000 this afternoon that the offer was 4/52. Don't know why I'm the only one that heard that, but there it is
  23. Since they do have similar eyewear, you're probably right
