  1. I was hoping for old school but the Cubs official account just tweeted and it's essentially just the current Cubs alt. Maybe with a retro logo on the sleeve? Not sure, certainly not a uniform guy.
  2. Blue jerseys, no names, believe everyone wearing 23 on Saturday. Should be cool.
  3. Agreed. Mo isn't a major league catcher yet so he's fun but square peg/round hole, and McGuire has been serviceable but he's a backup catcher. Amaya looked good but the advanced metrics have him as slightly above average offensively, though he comes with all the team control. Kelly obviously was never going to keep up his April but has basically settled into his xwOBA (.371 wOBA v .361 xwOBA, which is basically as good as anyone not named Raleigh/Will Smith) and he gives them another year to wait on Salas.
  4. Murphy would make sense but I would think Adley has enough team control that a team like Baltimore would want to hold onto him (especially because this would be very much selling low). Amaya or Kelly hold enough value that I don't think you'd have to include too much more, which is tricky if they're looking for prospects to flip for Kwan or whatever.
  5. I know there are some weird work around rules with the injury, but maybe Amaya is on the table in that situation? Or Carson Kelly to bridge the gap to Salas? Elias Diaz and his 67 wRC isn't getting the job done.
  6. Not to call you specifically, but I really don't know what this means. Suarez is going to run hot and cold just like everyone else does. He's 3 for his last 29, in a full playoff series worth of games. Over the rest of the season will he hit better than Shaw? Almost certainly. But he certainly wouldn't have helped us in the Brewers (or Royals) series.
  7. Really wanted Bieber. Love the potential playoff upside.
  8. Hopefully Jed remembered to set his alarm to wake up for today right
  9. Eh. Tucker has a 133 wRC against LHP, Suzuki will come out of his slump, Dansby and Hoerner hit them well. Even Matt Shaw has a 107 wRC against them. I know we’ve struggled lately against them, but as others have pointed out, we went through a pretty elite run of lefty starters. No one would say we struggle against RHP if Skenes shuts us down. Trying to perfect an elite offense at the opportunity cost of pitching help seems foolish.
  10. Do I think he can maintain a 42 home run pace, something he’s only done once before this year (so far)? Maybe? I wouldn’t say ‘probable’. michael Busch and PCA both have a better wRC than Suarez in July. Is he a good hitter? Of course. Do we ‘need’ him? The offense has been incredibly offensive as is. Purely offensively we’re third in baseball, with baserunning and defense (where Suarez would be a clear downgrade) we’re the best team in baseball. Meanwhile, we have serious rotation issues, either in stamina (Boyd, Horton) or effectiveness (Rea, most of the bullpen). We have bullets, but they’re limited. We’re an injury to Matt ‘I get injured all the time’ Boyd away from our game two starter being…an exhausted Cade Horton? Taillon? To say nothing about game three. Upgrades need to go here.
  11. He’s definitely definitely better than whatever you want to call our fifth starter situation.
  12. A. Will take the under on 50 home runs 2. He has more PAs at wrigley than he does any park where he hasn’t played for the team. No doubt he does well there, but just for clarity sake C. Exhaust the options of using the bullets for pitching, and if that doesn’t work…fine. No one says anything about the transcendent brewers and joey Ortiz coming up in a (very hypothetical!) extremely leveraged October moment.
  13. Yeah you’re right, the cubs haven’t traded for a third baseman with a 130+ wRC in…a little over a year. Oh and that guy had multiple years of control. Very unique situation.
  14. Ok so if all mid-top 100 prospects are flawed and likely to not turn into much, why is that consistently the top end of what players, especially rentals go for come the trade deadline every year.
  15. But is it possible you’re just overly familiar with their flaws and similar issues exist with pretty much every other similarly ranked prospect? it’s like how most normal fans would look at Dansby and be like ‘hm, 2 fWAR, on pace for over 3, pretty good player’ and we’re collectively like ‘he’s the worst clutch player in modern baseball history’
  16. Are we allowed to reference Tucker in this? Luzurdo was very publicly a medicals concern. Bregman would have been nice. Bregman at a multi year deal at that dollar amount almost assuredly takes us out of signing Tucker given the amount of money we would have committed for 2026 (a Ricketts problem, not a Jed problem). Candelario, Paredes, Tucker. Basing your argument on two players they (and 28 other teams) didn’t get seems a little unfair/pessimistic, and also somewhat irrelevant given those were signings and not trades.
  17. Again, why
  18. Yeah if you ignore the dodgers, padres, brewers, probably the tigers and astros
  19. But honestly, what a dumb, annoying series. I clear out my night Monday and Tuesday to watch some intense, playoff atmosphere baseball and get hit with Ryno and the Andrew Vaughn show, and then today I'm running around all afternoon at work and am limited to checking the box score every 10 minutes and firing off snarky comments here while they dominate.
  20. The pathetic, gutless Cubs somehow, miraculously improve their season record against the clearly superior, transcendent Brewers to 3-3, with the remaining 5 games of the season series coming at home.
  21. Yeah there's just too much we don't know. Like I would have thought they would have told him not to bother with all the pre-game prep, stretching, lacing up the shoes, etc, just be around in case of emergency. But maybe he felt good, or wanted to test it out in a (low leverage) game setting....who knows.
  22. why do you know that though? like, what is it based on given his trading history?
  23. lol I mean, not your fault they have the same name. especially with who knows what the pirates are doing over there after the hayes trade
