  1. This is a team getting pretty awful sequencing luck and between that and them clearly pressing, it’s been a bit of a death spiral.
  2. Why didn’t they bat happ or hoerner in the fourth spot??
  3. It’s probably that stupid 16th most offensive fWAR in baseball thing.
  4. I wasn’t super kidding about Horton by the way. Would have much more confidence in him than Cuas
  5. Rockies are OPSing .650 on the road this year, worst in baseball. If we can't avoid the walks against that lineup for a weekend, we don't really deserve to play past next week. (We still might, obviously, because baseball is weird and not too long ago we kinda made 'beating good teams' our identity. But I'm pretty pessimistic on the overall pitching at this point. horsefeathers it, go see if Horton can give you a couple innings every few days.)
  6. For mostly nostalgia reasons, I was hoping the next competitive Cubs team would happen before Hendricks was totally done. I envisioned him playing like the Maddux role for those early 2000s teams...back end starter, providing tutelage behind the scenes, etc. But here we are with like 10 games left, with a playoff spot and he's at least our second best starter these days. Wild.
  7. You just need so much pitching depth these days, I really don't know how any team does it. I tried to make a comparison to the 2016 Cubs (never smart!) and how all 5 of those dudes were veterans, totally stretched out in the years before, etc. But honestly it's not fair to like, knock this version of the Cubs for not having that kind of freakish health luck (152 games started by those 5) and really it's just a different game in general. They'd all be top 30 in innings right now. I don't know where these top teams find all the innings.
  8. You're probably right. Didn't mean for it to come off as grouping them together as prospects. Just more touching on how we've gotten nothing of value from these dudes all year.
  9. I mean, it's a legitimate question, but not really one you answer based on 9 ABs. He certainly wasn't lighting up AAA offensively. It's amazing how much time we all spent complaining about Mervis and PCA just wasting time in Iowa only for them to come up and provide absolutely nothing. The depth is coming, but it's not here yet.
  10. Dansby Swanson has a .781 OPS and a 19% K rate in September before tonight. That K rate would be the lowest month of the year for him. (Back on my horsefeathers)
  11. .325/.341/.600 in his last 9 games going into tonight
  12. For those not clicking through: https://x.com/Schrock_And_Awe/status/1704590424915001381?s=20
  13. Confirmed by the real Schefter(*) and Rapoport (* Not the fake Schefter who was fooling people with an Eberflus resignation announcement, if you see that anywhere)
  14. We were so impressed by Miles M last night that we decided to give him a start today, apparently. And yes, Canario (and PCA) are both sitting, but I don't think the two are related. Tauch Nico Happ Belli (1B) Dansby Suzuki Morel (DH) Gomes Miles (3B)
  15. I did a simple twitter search for his name and the number of different stories I saw being 'rumored' was wild. Pictures on his computer, the bad kind, that he was throwing NFL games, that he was at 1/6. (Feel free to delete/tell me to delete this depending on how this plays out....absolutely no support to any of this)
  16. Couple things 1. ‘most’ people don’t think that. Thats kinda the whole motivating factor of me originally doing this. It’s rampant negativity in here, pretty regardless of what’s going on in the actual game. 2. after this stretch of gross baseball, we’re on an 85 win pace. That’s in line or ahead of most people’s predictions, the analytic predictions, etc. It’s certainly not the 100 win pace team that we saw for like 6 weeks (which is kinda when everyone started paying attention again), but then again, it never really was that team. 3. Won’t disagree on your big picture complaints. But kinda seems more like a general discussion frustration than, like, a ‘what a bunch of horsefeathers losers’ conversation when we go down 3-1 in the fourth inning. Also worth pointing out that, this year especially, we are not unique in this problem (Sox and Yankees back 20 games of Tampa and Baltimore, Mets and braves)
  17. Well that sucked a lot. Take something from the last 10 minutes. Quickly.
  18. Happy for you that the cubs royally sucked tonight so you could post your little ‘gotcha’ tonight
  19. I don’t know how you define ‘plummet’ but being ahead of those three teams and there being two spots available still, mathematically, puts you in a pretty good spot.
  20. Couldn’t figure out how ‘live’ it was. Could be right. Rockies won at least.
