  1. Kinda feel like our hopes rely on Stroman turning into a 2 inning stud for 6 weeks, especially now with Adbert potentially dead.
  2. That would be really dumb, but also marginally not worth getting upset over.
  3. FG has us as the best baserunning team in the baseball, which I guess is a testament to how good we've been because we have just been terrible at stealing bases this past week or so.
  4. Did Little get sent back down or do we just assume that Ross is going to treat him like canario?
  5. Rookie of the Year was bigger, obviously has the Cubs/Wrigley aspect, and has the more memorable moments. Little Big League is the better movie.
  6. If it helps, we don’t need a sweep. Nor should we expect one.
  7. Feel like the only real winners of this first half are lion fans?
  8. Cubs > Bears for me, but it was nice just kinda casually following the cubs game in the background while I scrolled through the 12:00 games. Feel like I avoided a bunch of unnecessary stress. Good win, go use the time in Colorado to heat up the bats (but hopefully not ruin wicks, etc)
  9. Brewers game is pretty nuts. No hit them through 10, up 3-1 going into bottom 12 and Stanton homers to tie it up.
  10. Just popping in to say that this new lineup, which sure doesn’t really matter, is really horsefeathers stupid anyways go bears
  11. Feel like Kelly has hit about 15 corners so far today. Pitch count is up at least.
  12. Stroman coming back Friday in a relief role is certainly interesting. Would love it if he could dial up his stuff to get some more Ks but guessing he’s already going to be less than 100%
  13. No issues with the taillon pull. He’s been consistently bad, third time through, etc. Cuas is not a good pitcher and shouldn’t be trusted. But we don’t have enough good pitchers to totally avoid those kinds of dicey situations. Keegan falling apart hurt, smyly and kilian not having their stuff play up in the pen hurts, settling on Cuas as your only bullpen pickup really hurts, just because that seems the easiest one to avoid. Additional days off in October should help with some of that, but, as you mentioned, some of these guys are venturing into unexplored territory, innings wise. it’s weird because I feel like the last few years they’ve been really good about finding reliever projects and flipping them for prospects. This year we could have just used the pitchers, but nothing really developed.
  14. I was more focused on the fact that we were earnestly talking about this hypothetical when the reality is that Ross ‘took’ a team that was supposed to be 500 and has them on pace to win like 87 games and make the playoffs. (managers are probably pretty worthless but serve as good fall guys)
  15. Yeah I’m kinda trying to find a middle ground too, while also trying to move away from the ‘well it’s a game thread, of course people are going to be negative’ mentality. It’s not like the regular threads are significantly better. It’s an overperforming team (compared to everyone’s expectations in march) that has been really fun, and really stressful to watch. Going to be ups and downs.
  16. Cubs lose two games in a row, playoff expectancy over 85%. NSBB: should Ross get fired if/when they miss the playoffs
  17. The frustrating thing is that games like today are a good reminder that we are good, but definitely flawed, and Ross trying to sequence a bunch of average pitchers isn’t going to work and isn’t going to matter when the offense gets shut down by a stud. The good thing to remember is that all the other teams in this race are almost definitely way more flawed than we are, and we’ve played ourselves into a spot where there’s theoretically four spots available for us to grab. I like our chances a lot better with that math.
  18. Yeah I never really liked hoerner up there though I do think he’s a really smart hitter. Now that tauchman turned back into a (still kinda serviceable) pumpkin, I think you drop them and move everyone else up a couple slots.
  19. Yeah horsefeathers that dude with a 121 wRC in the second half and a 166 wRC in high leverage spots this year
  20. We didn’t score a run in 9 innings and got through a taillon start without burning a single pen pitcher for tomorrow, I wouldn’t think. And only giving up one run. It’s fine.
  21. I meant his overall usage, but sure. There’s been games that have gotten away from taillon quickly, and generally the numbers are going to support a bullpen pitcher over a starter going through the order for a third time. Can we talk about how mastrobuoni hasn’t hit in 3 weeks and is apparently just there for vibes. Or is it not even worth it.
  22. I don’t think he has much of a choice, but yeah, nothing about cuas has justified how quickly he’s gotten into the circle of trust
