  1. Sorry, but lol. Really attacked that hypothetical situation you made up in your head there.
  2. Yeah but it's the one part of the game where I can actually at least pretend I could have improved upon things, so just let me have it. Could I have caught that ball? Probably not, especially with Cody's lanky ass bearing down on me. Certainly couldn't hit like .400 the last two months like Seiya's been doing. But if you made me the manager could I have just...not bunted there? Yeah, think I could pull that off.
  3. Is this a full bullpen game for the Braves or is there some (I presume) lefty ready to take over pretty quickly that I should spend too much time looking into today?
  4. I don't think I agree that it makes sense in coordination with them sacrificing Miles the batter before. Wisdom has 22 singles in 257 ABs this year.* Say what you will about PCAs significant struggles in a small sample size in the majors, if you're playing for a single run with the bunt, if you don't think PCA gives you a better chance with a guy on second then there are serious problems with small sample size issues. You can make the argument that Wisdom could do more damage in the aggregate, but you don't use Mastro to bunt, you trust him to stay out the GIDP and play for a bigger inning. (I know Gomes isn't guaranteed to score from first on a double, but I'll also take second and third with one out and Nico at the plate)
  5. Who's on that list of 'under 30', 'ace', and 'available'? Hopefully someone really good if you're running with Wicks and Assad.
  6. Wisdom failing to dig the second half of a GIDP incoming
  7. I know baseball is basically just two teams playing each other and each team having between a 40% and 60% chance of winning, but man, this Braves lineup is a horsefeathers nightmare.
  8. I don’t think canario really brings anything unique to this team right now and is clearly going to be the one to go down when jeimer is ready, but wouldn’t care much at all if they decided on PCA instead.
  9. Some BABIP luck is nice. Minus Morel of course. This guy can’t strike people out, solid contact is all you can do.
  10. Elder through May: 1.92/3.39/3.66 Elder since 8/1: 4.74/5.06/4.96 Not that it's really mattered who's pitched against the Cubs lately, but this is probably the one guy we'll see in a Barves jersey tonight that doesn't scare anyone. They've tended to ignore offense when Steele is on the mound (anecdotal evidence, probably disprovable)...going to need to take advantage of the weak pitcher tonight.
  11. Stroman and Cubs opt out of Hendricks but maybe he comes back for cheaper.
  12. There's probably whole discussion to have about Morel in the offseason (is there a more beloved 0.9 fWAR in 412 PAs player in baseball? do people realize that 'Morel but also mediocre at third' is basically just Wisdom? they have essentially an identical slash line in their careers), but since this is still kinda an Ian Happ thread.... Happ is fine in left. People who watch a specific team for an entire season (and only that team) are going to be able to point to certain plays that confirm what they want to believe one way or the other. He's played the third most LF innings in baseball and he is 5th out of 11 in FG defensive ratings. It's more than enough for a comfortably above average hitter. He's third in fWAR for LFers, which I'm aware is painting him in a good light because he's out there all day, every day, but if you just look at team production in left the Cubs (ie: Ian Happ) are 8th in total fWAR. No issues from me.
  13. I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m trying to delete it
  14. Cubs looking at 6 shutout innings from their pen in what was a tight game the whole way, because of course.
  15. Every rational part of me tells me that Nico’s offensive ceiling is like, barely above league average. Which is fine. But man do I love him in those spots.
  16. PCA really couldn’t be much worse than he has been
  17. Mike tauchman might just be Jared Young but in center field, but I definitely don’t see a 6 week slump in these numbers that would give a clear nod to PCA and his .350 OBP in AAA. I think it’s ok to say that PCA is going to be really good but is not a finished product.
  18. Sorry the guy on the team we cheer for hit a home run for our team.
  19. Jameson Taillon has been significantly better in the second half and probably should not be considered the 5th/skippable starter in the sad current version of this rotation. But that's a conversation for next week I guess.
  20. and, given recent events, like 6 more runs.
  21. No one should ever really complain about 3 runs in 5 innings. But man, would be nice to just occasionally treat a very bad starter like the very bad starter he is.
  22. See, if Seiya was hitting in front of Dansby that would have only been a solo shot. Ross = Genius
