Lol I’m too drunk for how completely miserable this thread is. A team projected for 500 comfortably maintains its playoff spot and takes away two more games for a chasing team to make up ground. Let’s all be super angry about it.

Hey, pretty good split for a road DH against an over 500 team with a pitching combination of ‘dude making his second start ever’ and ‘I don’t know, all our worst pitchers in a random order’.

This is an amazing take for a tied game two of a road doubleheader where we won the first game and are going with a bullpen game for the second one. We literally won a big game like, 4 hours ago.

Yeah Happ timing his hot streak for 4 games in Cincy is about all you can for.

Don’t have a specific name in mind, but kinda wish they would have delayed the Canario call up until after todays DH and brought up another pitcher in the event wicks or Greene needs to get pulled early. Wicks ended up with an incredible start but it was pretty close to a disaster in the first. Can’t give him an endless leash given his long term importance and the importance of these games, but really don’t want to need like 12 innings from the bullpen today with two more games still left in the series and no day off in sight.

This is by far the most important part of the decision. The more boring baseball part of the decision is there's a mutual option for next year at $12m with a $4m buyout, so that ups the price on getting a month of pitching out of him quite a bit, either in terms of the buyout or in terms of committing to, as mentioned, an abusive shitbag for another year

Yes and no. Cody is a better hitter, so I generally agree. But like, the job that Cody got done today was only an option because of Happs double.

Some frustrating BABIP/sequencing luck these two games. Which is a generous way of saying that there have been some very infuriating big ABs by guys I otherwise like.

There’s one. Minor Marquee complaint: I wish that they would flash the radar gun reading over a different spot than the count. Over the outs, or ideally the pitch count. That half second to see what the count is after missing the first couple pitches of the AB (and inevitably getting confused by the hitter being 0-2 or whatever) is annoying.

Happ 250/344/536 in the last week before that double. He’s had a couple Soriano esque runs in his career, one would be huge now, and maybe convince people he’s not a fourth outfielder or whatever.

Well I've got good news, the Cubs haven't gotten swept in 2 months because they are an above average baseball team who have played really really well in the second half.

I'm not going argue about 12 innings, but he's been fine in the bullpen and was about 3 inches from being fine tonight.

Back of the envelope map says Miley has gotten 18 outs without a double play and only one strikeout. And we have 4 hits, two that left the yard. So I believe our BABIP is 2/19 on the day. Not going to comment on the contact quality, but there's a fair amount of bad luck (and good defense) baked in there regardless.
